RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

Following your posts is really starting to get interesting. I love it when folks like you think outside the box. Richard Yeah, me too. I can't wait for him to get out of "The Box" :)

RE: Rebuild ideas and thoughts

I guess another "post then ghost". Too bad. I would have enjoyed seeing the outcome. I suspect he realized it may have been in over his head.

RE: Looking at this Rexhall coach

I found the RV you are looking at. It is exactly like our old one. You are off to a good start.

RE: Looking at this Rexhall coach

I had a 98 Aerbus. We have very good luck with it. No issues at all. Never went back for repairs of any kind. I have heard the newer Rexhalls went down in quality (2005 and up), but I don't speak from experience. Check the date code on the tires. There are 6 of them and if they are older than 6 years, they should be replaced. That gets expensive.

RE: Opinion: 1991 Fleetwood Southwind 30'

Run don't walk from a 30 year old RV. You are not buying an RV, you are buying a part time job.

RE: Looking at a 1998 Rexhall Aerbus 29XL

It looks like it was sold. I hope the OP bought it.

RE: Rebuild ideas and thoughts

Rebuilds like this NEVER make financial sense. You paid $2500 for the coach and when it's all done it will be worth MAYBE $12,000. It's just $$$$ wasted. Sorry, but a 1990 Southwind motorhome in perfect condition, with low miles and babied would still not be worth $12,000. Southwind resale value...$2500 Experience...Priceless

RE: Rebuild ideas and thoughts

Wow. Without pictures I can only imagine what it must look like. You have removed the walls and roof? Best of luck. Looking forward to pictures.

RE: Looking at a 1998 Rexhall Aerbus 29XL

I found the RV you are talking about online. It looks pretty good. The owner put in a wooden / wood look laminate flooring. The flooring in there now is not factory. The cover for the stove was also added by the owner. The factory cover is made from the same material as the counter top. Those covers broke really easily. That may be the reason for the replacement. The fridge is a upgrade from what comes standard. Nice upgrade. Aside from a needed good cleaning, that is a really nice RV. If you buy it, you will probably need to replace the tires if they are older than 7 years old. Replace all the under hood rubber. Hoses, belts, filters etc. All is cheap and easy to replace. (except the tires).

RE: Looking at a 1998 Rexhall Aerbus 29XL

I had one of that same age. Bought it new, drove the **** out of it. Never let me down. Never went back to the dealer for anything. Very solid. I wish I still had it.

RE: Rebuild ideas and thoughts

Have you considered a short block? Might be a time and money saver.

RE: Rebuild ideas and thoughts

See 3 years and counting..... I am pretty handy. I wouldn't touch it. He has 3 years into it, and almost $10,000 and he has only scratched the surface. I respect him for sticking with it, but it simply does not make sense to rebuild these vintage RV's. Best to find a low mileage older rig and make do. There are many of them on the market.

RE: Remove logo on Flexsteel captains chairs arm rest.....

Yep. You have to peel the logo off to get to the 1/2" hex nut that allows the arm rest to be removed.

RE: Cannot start engine

Sorry that happened to you. The nest is certainly a good clue. It happened to me in the past. I just had to get a test light and start at the battery and trace the power to all components. I know it sounds time consuming, but there is little else you can do.

RE: Tiffin Allerro

Always get a certified RV inspector - it should run $200-300 depending on your area. That's interesting.....Who "certifies" RV Inspectors? Buler....Buler?
