RE: Atwood Furnaces 8531 & 8520

Depending on what gasket he is talking about, wonder why he did not replace it while in there??? my thought exactly!

Atwood Furnaces 8531 & 8520

Looking for suggestions/recommendations for where to have our furnaces serviced in central Florida. DH takes care of routine maintenance but given the age of the furnaces wouldn't mind have someone else take a look at them. Back story - we are the original owners of our signature rig (2007 Monaco Knight). The furnaces are original equipment also. This past spring we had a problem with the front furnace (Atwood 8531) and had to have the burner replaced. The service tech told us (after the repair was all completed and put back together) that we should have an inspection done and possibly have the gaskets replaced. At that point we were already late to hit the road and it was late spring already so we decided to table the issue until the fall. Wish service tech had mentioned it before he put it all back together so we could have had it done then. Thanks for your time.

RE: Window shades?

We replaced ours with MCD shades back in 2013. We consider them one of the best things we have added to our motorhome.

RE: Printer

How often do you print things at home? Could you go a few weeks without printing something? If you don't get a printer, I would at least be sure to have a thumb drive so you could easily take files to another location for printing.

RE: electrical question

either way would work. It sounds like you are going to purchase a Progressive Industries product either way which are both good choices. If it were me, I would purchase the 50 amp product if there is any possibility you may upgrade rv's at some point. Cheaper overall to purchase one PI product now than to purchase one now and then another one later.

RE: full time 101 questions

If you are thinking of buying new so you will have a warranty, the warranty won't be worth much if you can't take it in for warranty repairs. They don't come to you.

have you tried looking at Park Models?

RE: Grand Canyon 2020

be sure to check out Lower Antelope Canyon in Page AZ if you go from one side of the Canyon to the other. Google it. We hiked the Canyon rim to rim from north to south in 2017. Fourth trip to the Canyon. Plan on 5 hours to drive from one side to the other. great scenery on the drive too.

RE: Consumer Cellular - No Coverage?

As previously noted, CC uses AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Each phone has a sim card that only uses one or the other. My wife recently got a new i-phone, and she consistently could not get coverage when my Samsung did. It turned out that she had a sim card that used the T-Mobile network, where mine uses AT&T. After a visit to a Target store, she had an AT&T sim card installed. After that, she is now getting service. And, Consumer Cellular credited our account for the $10 we spent on the new sim card. Thanks for this tip. I called Consumer Cellular and they told me that both our phones have T-Mobile sim cards. When we get ready to leave Florida, I think we may switch at least one sim card to AT&T.

RE: Splendid Washer/Dryer

Take the clothes out between wash and dry cycle and shake them out. Separate loads - i.e. washer loads can be twice as large as dryer loads. I tend to hang dry as many clothes as possible such as tee shirts and light weight shorts. Don't buy clothes that wrinkle easily. Don't use too much soap.

Consumer Cellular - No Coverage?

For those who have Consumer Cellular, where have you not had service? Specifically where you thought you should have had coverage? Not referring to out of the way places where most phones don't have coverage like Yellowstone. Just looking for places you have traveled where you were surprised not to have coverage. Thank you for your time.

RE: Mail Forwarding

we used to have our mail packaged and sent to a campground address if we were going to be at a campground for a week to 10 days. Otherwise we would pick out a small town post office and have our mail package sent General Delivery to that Post office. Believe they will hold it for 2 weeks or might have been 30 days. Just show your id and pick it up. Don't use large city posts offices because they might hold General Delivery mail at the main post office instead of the zip code that you selected.

RE: Repair Facility

we took our motorhome to RCI-XL in Warner Robbins for a leak check. They found the leak and made some minor repairs. They treated us well there. I don't know if they do maintenance but it looked like they did body work.

RE: Vent fans and a/c at the same time

The only advantage I've ever found to run the Exhaust fans in the way you are talking about is when we are initially cooling down the inside of the coach and it is cooler outside than it is inside the coach. It is a rare situation because it also has to be hotter outside than what I want the inside of the coach to get down to eventually. for example 92 inside coach, 85 outside and I want the inside of the coach to be 78. run fans for a few minutes, then start up AC's.

RE: If you're not happy I'm not happy

I already supplied details to Marcus' office and they said they would respond. Look it up. might be easier for them to look it up if you give them your name........

RE: I-77 to I-26 to I-95 - Carolinas, Georgia to Florida

Original Poster here - just fyi - I-77 south traffic was so bad that we elected to head west on I-20 to US129 to pick up I-75 at Macon. Was about 75-90 miles further but it let us avoid I-26, I-95 as well as I-4 westbound. Our destination is just southwest of Orlando.

RE: I-77 to I-26 to I-95 - Carolinas, Georgia to Florida

I’d be wary of the hundreds of thousands of people that evacuated on 26 and 95. They are going to be returning in the next few days. We often get off 26 at US 301 to go into Fl. having problems finding US 301 on the map below I-16. Can you give me more information? I know where it is once I get to Florida but not sure what to take in the middle.

I-77 to I-26 to I-95 - Carolinas, Georgia to Florida

We've been delaying our return to Florida due to Dorian. Any concern about being able to find diesel fuel on our route tomorrow? Currently just south of Virginia line on I-77. Would like to get south of Savannah GA tomorrow. Thanks for advise from those who are on our route. We are watching the weather reports already and will continue to do so.

RE: Slides - Monaco & Holiday Ramblers Owners

I have installed them on my front two slides, one flush floor and one raised floor. Chris makes a quality product that is fairly easy to install. I will install them on the rear two slides this winter. Did you have any damage on the flush floor slide? if so how far back did it go?

RE: Route 212 over Bear Tooth Pass.

What is your definition of Acceptable? I wouldn't tow that route but I'm sure you will find others that would and have done so.
