RE: genny conundrum

2- 2200s are the way to go, and more watts! In case you're wondering, nearly all new gens have a CO monitor that's supposed to shut it off if the CO gets dangerous. So far zero issues with that running them outside (of course)

RE: Cheapest Li I've seen

The major companies are trying to stick to there crazy pricing they started when they were the only players,by trying to make you think they are better, where in most of the cases they are pretty much on par with the low cost entries.Have any actual evidence of that?

RE: RuggedFlex solar panels -- a significant new product??

I'd be leery of mounting them directly on my rubber roof. They get very hot.

RE: I want to run a microwave on an inverter

To fully charge a LA battery takes a VERY long time, and it doesn't matter what the charging source is..I agree. I saw my AGMs take over 24 hours to fully charge on home power. That ain't happening with a generator or solar. Li is nice in that it doesn't care if it's fully charged, takes about as much amperage as you can throw at it, and has no absorb.

RE: Question on changing leaf springs on 5'er

Is something broken, or preventative maintenance? My leafs are still good after 18 years - or at least they look and work fine! Youtube got anything?

RE: Wheel Bearings - re-grease?

I haven't done anything to mine in 8 years and they're fine. I do keep watch on the temperature.

RE: I want to run a microwave on an inverter

About the only thing my cook uses the microwave for, & they take awhile, is baking potatoes.Thanks. I tried that, and I have to say I prefer the regular oven. Of course that takes 2 hours.

RE: I want to run a microwave on an inverter

I'm just curious, what takes 10 minutes in a microwave?

RE: I want to run a microwave on an inverter

if using the microwave for say 10 minutes, do you see a huge battery drain? Yeah. You'll need at least 4 well-charged GC batteries for that, or lithium.

RE: Cold weather, generators, and campgrounds

I leave mine on because ....Even on hookups I'm surprised to hear those heaters. I guess some RVs are gas only.

RE: Cold weather, generators, and campgrounds

In my rig the furnace cycling would be much louder than any generator noise sourced from "many" surrounding camp sites with the RV buttoned up to keep out the cold. Gas water heaters are also very loud, especially at 3am. When they initially fire up it sounds like an explosion. I don't know why people leave them on all the time, or if they even know they're on. They must be deaf.

RE: Cold weather, generators, and campgrounds

So yes I agree that I should avoid campgrounds as much as possible.I don't know if you need to go that far, but at the very least I would do my best to avoid extreme cold.

RE: Cold weather, generators, and campgrounds

Is this complete disregard for the rules and FELLOW CAMPERS acceptable in light of the conditions?I'd probably let it slide, but, it's a complete disregard for having enough battery to get through a cold night...and possibly the weather forecast. If these people need hookups then that's where they should be.
