RE: To buy a generator or not...

Running a/c from batteries is doable, for a while. Microwaves and blenders do quite well on inverters. TV too. I heartily recommend upping your system voltage to at least 24 for running air. At 12v it's just too much amperage for your wiring and connectors, and things will heat up. Many talk about running a/c from a generator, buy in my experience, it's rare. People usually just leave for the day and let the trailer get hot. I myself do not. I run a couple 2200s 8, 10 hours a day. That about 15 gallons of gas every 4 days.

RE: To buy a generator or not...

A bit unlcear to me how many days you'll be in the no power situation. That's pretty darn warm for using a generator. What are you doing from, say, 11 am to 5pm. It's going to be sweltering in the RV. I don't know the babies' tolerance for sleeping in an 80F bed, because it's likely to be that warm.

RE: Boondocking Water Question

It's also a good idea to put a little effort in ways to get more water rather than just going 'survival camping.'

RE: Boondocking Water Question

Any one that has a shutoff. Just don't forget and leave it shut off with the water faucets on. That's why they drip a little bit.

Excellent for solar and wind installations.

RE: Future Canadian Snowbird questions

Might be best to consult Canada tax laws, plus the states you're moving it to. Is this an LLC question? I see you listed your state as TX

RE: Portable Rolling 5-10 Gal Water Container

5-10 gallon containers don't really help that much, unless you have about 10 of them. I carry 3- 26 gallon custom-made tanks on the truck bed. I'm not much into conservation.

RE: AT&T anounces truly unlimited wireless data plan

Just mirror the phone to whatever you want. I don't know what the data difference is between doing that, or using the hotspot and the TV's wifi.

RE: F250 Short Bed Adding Diesel Auxiliary Tank

50 gal, but I did have to be careful on tight turns. A short wheelbase means the hitch is closer to the back of the cab, where the tank, presumably, will be.

RE: Honda Gen EU2000i and EU2200i Companion

Done it myself. In fact, mated a 2200 with 2 2000s. Now, mating 2 2200s with a 1000.

RE: Walmart selling LiFePo4 batteries $539

At these prices LFP will surely start making a dent in the wet cell market..Perhaps, but, as with all products, they keep making them cheaper and cheaper until they have too many failures. Then people start complaining about how Li's aren't worth a darn.

RE: AT&T anounces truly unlimited wireless data plan

I got all excited until I clicked on the link and learned that hotspot data is limited to 40gb per month. Per the article, unlimited hotspot data is a pipe dream.Yeah, that's always the gotcha. I can't do all my surfing or watch movies on a phone.

RE: [SOLVED] Buy if slide out is sluggish?

Do you mean something like this, where he removes the idler gear from the rack and re-adjusts manually? Yes. I had to do that once.. I don't remember exactly what happened, but it became misaligned where one side was moving before the other. My big living room slide, after 18 years of faithful use, is sometimes difficult to bring in because of the 'lift' it has to do when it's first coming in. To help it, I put a couple slide out support jacks under it and lift the rails just a tiny bit. I think it's just old age sag. I don't know if the slides you're looking at have exposed rails.

RE: [SOLVED] Buy if slide out is sluggish?

Slides shouldn't need lube, that attracts dirt. I would check for misalignment.

If you do any dry camping be sure to factor in batteries and inverter.
