RE: Biggest unit you know of under 3,500 pounds ???

Grit Dog - OP here, I was asking for a friend. He had the Ridgeline and after hearing about our travels as well as a few others he thought he'd like to join us.

Well now, I asked the question and got 9 answers, 1 joke (good one), and 13 bitchers. Thanks for the answers and the joke.

RE: Possibly upgrading from TT to Class A

my 5ver had 4 slides and 425 sq ft of room. So much storage we didn't use it all. We were 65' bumper to bumper with the truck. Now we are 55' bumper to bumper with the jeep. We have far less storage and find that a 38' MH gives about 35' of living area,We find the cockpit area to be useless, although you can turn the chairs around, it's too much of a pain to fool with. With three slides (one is full body) we have about 325 sq ft of room. Not to mention the learning curve of driving the MH,and the fact that my wife can't ride in the passenger seat. Too nervous riding in the window over the bumper. Just saying, be careful what you wish for. It might be the right move for you but it was certainly regrettable for us.

RE: Possibly upgrading from TT to Class A

Be careful what you wish for. We "upgraded" from a 40' 5ver to a 38' MH. Wanted to get rid of the Duelly, crew cab and just tow our jeep. Found everything we wanted and made the switch. Worst mistake we ever made. MH just can not compare to the living space of the 5ver. If all of your travels are 1 or 2 nights and moving on, might work for you. Our trips are 3-6 weeks in one spot.

RE: Bad taste/smell to fresh water

Have had still water go bad while storing, started draining the water heater after each trip. Also went to the hardware store and bought a fitting that replaces the water heater drain on one end and has a garden hose fitting on the other. Hook up to hose and open the pressure relief valve. When you turn the water on you are back flushing the tank, fill till it comes out the pressure relief. Disconnect everything, re drain, and replace the original plug. Your good for the next trip.

RE: Just waiting to use this

I encountered a little something that I am rather looking forward to using when suitable. Tickled my funny bone so I decided to share it. If I've offended you with my posts, I humbly apologize. I honestly did not think you could read! I got it immediately, and will steal it for future use, some people need to get thicker skins.

RE: Devil's Backbone Brewing Company

Devils Backbone - Lexington VA, this is the satellite Location. Most of the brewing is done here and it has a small tasting room. The main(and original)location of the brewery is in Roseland VA. This is the location with the restaurant and the campground. There are also two other breweries, a ciderery and a couple of vineyards on the same road. More than 6 breweries in the nearby area. Roseland can be reached from Lynchburg via 29N to 151N. There are some tight turns. If you are going to Lexington anyway and the brewery was a side trip, also check out Blue Lab brewing, downtown Lexington. Only campground of note in area is Natural Bridge KOA.

FMCA - Insurance to get you rig home.

Just experienced worse vacation of my life, ended up in hospital for a week. Was trying to figure out how to get the coach home, when I remembered FMCA offered a service that sent a driver to get your coach home. Has anyone used this service and what was your experience with it? I lucked out and was stable enough to drive the 350 miles home before I started seeing doctors at home for follow ups.
