RE: bigfoot on shortbed srw

I just reviewed 6 years of different model years of BF brochures 2000 -2008 there are no 2500 series 9.6 listed as for short bed use , they only list 9.4 and once an 8-11 b was listed as for short box use

RE: bigfoot on shortbed srw

The 9.6 BF is not built with enough fiberglass frame structure to support that much weight hanging over the rear of a short bed truck. Also center of gravity would actually reduce front axle weight. My 9.6 only puts 300lbs on the front axle.. . I have a friend that has an older BF that is 11'5". Even on a long bed the rear of the camper has sagged quite a bit and caused a delimitation of the internal structure of the walls at the rear overhang. He fixed that but the sag was not much better. My 9'6" does sag just a bit back there too and that is on a long bed. No structure problems though... 20 years, lots of miles and many rough roads! All the way to Prudhoe bay and more. Lastly... Both the gray and black tanks are in the overhang... 50 gallons when full. Along with that part of the fresh water tank is in that last 1.5' of overhang... A short bed would place about another 2' of water weight in the short bed overhang of the camper. The 9.6 holds about 50 gallons of fresh water... Jim sound advise i have worked on many different models of BF's that had the rear sag problem.

RE: Graveside Boondocking?

In the 1970s after I finished my time in the Army I wandered around on my motorcycle. Small town cemeterys provided a clean, quiet place to camp for the night. It seemed like every one had a giant old oak or maple tree for shade and shelter. I was absolutely carefree... I did similar after I got back in 67 from( Nam usn ,cam rahn bay 65-66) spent all most 6 months on the road back to TJ on a ( 1966 Bridgestone 175) I survived mostly by odd jobs & handy man jobs , some of my greatest ever memories !!!!

RE: Oshawa Ontario

I think this was from a 2000 10.5 BF I put floor support in this years ago hope it helps a little dropping these tanks not easy the top supply and vent connections are XXXXXXto disconnect on the top with lousy access to them and repositioning the tank back can be a bear !!!! the hanging straps usually have a short lag bolt through a washer or metal plate then the strapping into the bottom of the floor be careful reassembling the floor is not solid material and the lags ment to go into areas of flooring a that have reinforcing a deep search of my past posts you will find many posts with pix of other BFs I worked on there should be some of later a 10.6 and a 10.5
