RE: Electronic failures, PCB repairs.

I have found a lot of times the larger parts like relays when the boards are wave soldered do not have enought solder on the leads and do crack the joint over time from heat/cool cycles and vibration, all common in motorhomes.

RE: Class C rear end sag and banging!

Our 1977 26 foot e-class ford had firestone 5000lb air bags in the back to help.. due to there age I replaced them with a set of PacBrake and it makes a big difference in the ride and the ride level as well

RE: Emergency roadside assistance

The company I work for we do a lot of road side calls, and on of out biggest problems we are now facing is some of the fifth wheels/ travel trailers we cannot put on a flat deck due to the height, and even putting on a low boy they wont clear bridges.. This has become a big problem when you get broken springs and or axles. We have had to come up with a few creative ways to get some off to a service center.

RE: Workhorse 8.1 GM exhaust gasket replacement

I find the easiest thing is to use the torch and blow the nut off flush with the manifold, then remove the manifold, then you can remove the studs from the head,, most of the studs now are 8mm, trying to undo them you are more than likely to break them off, then get new studs and nuts.. as they are cheep insurance...

RE: What do I need to start this?

Our 26 foot ford E350 is around 11,000 lbs, and will have to picked up by the front due to the over hang in the back, and the drive shaft disconnected at the rear axle.. if you have a 2 piece drive shaft the rear half can be removed from the front shaft, just tape up the U-joint caps so they dont fall off.... Some auto clubs also wont tow an un-plated car, so you may have to work around that somehow... I work for a towing Company here in Canada and CAA wont tow and un-Plated car.. but we dont really check to make sure the plate belongs to the car either lol

RE: What do I need to start this?

blue prints I doubt you will find any sort of blue prints for your rv... I ended up just taking measurements off the old wood and doing one section at a time and going on to the next.. once the interior panel and the framing is up is the it does not take much time.. Ours took from the end of September to mid may to complete.. with not too much done over the winter...https://i.imgur.com/Q8BYTiOm.jpg then having to wait to get the siding for it at the beginning of the year, as it was a 12 hour round trip, I didnt want to try in a snow storm or freezing rain ..

RE: What do I need to start this?

It would be a big project, but if you have the time and the skill set and tools it can be done.. we bought our 1977 26 foot motorhome 3 years ago used id a couple of times and found major rot in the body and over the winter rebuilt it, replacing all the walls and the complete roof structure. We are now into the second year with the rebuilt body and have only had minor problems , like having to replace the 12V power supply, and a couple of u-joints on the drive shaft..https://i.imgur.com/KaxrTvOm.jpg this is some of the work to the rear. this is after the new filon sidinghttps://i.imgur.com/R3Un0mbm.jpg the replacement side with the new decals https://i.imgur.com/ND3vgnhm.jpg

RE: headlight switch on 1978

most of thouse switches you pull the knob out as far as you can, and there is a button on the back you push and the knob will pull all the way out, then just have to undo the nut on front of the dash and the switch comes out..

RE: Anyone install an 30 amp receptacle outside for inverter?

I have done a similar thing with out motorhome, have 3 deep cycle going into the rv through a 50A circuit breaker, and off the batterys through a 150A circuit breaker to the inverter. Have put in a 40A contactor that closes when on shore power to supply power only to the interior outlets. when no shore power or generator the contactor opens, and will feed power to the interior outlets only, and not to the microwave, AC or to the charger...

RE: Length restricted rv parks

We camp in a lot of the provincial parks in Ontario Canada, and most sites are restricted to 18feet, even though we are 26 feet we still book as most of the time we have been there before and know what sites we will still fit into. but yes there is restrictions with length in a lot of places

RE: Lithium batteries high for Stepwell, will they start genny?

our genset starts off the coach battery, not the house battery. You may able to modify the battery box to drop it down lower to clear the top
