RE: Arctic Fox 811

13'2" on the back of a 2015 RAM 3500 4x4 SRW MegaCab. That's to the top of the standard A/C and 20W solar panel.

RE: Truck camper mileage

2015 RAM 3500 4WD MegaCab SRW Cummins TD with an Arctic Fox 811 (roughly 4200# loaded) we usually average 14-16mpg. I tend to keep it at about 62mph most of the time occasionally a bit faster. The truck has 3.73 axle ratio. I routinely average 19mpg unloaded. I am a very light footed driver, loaded or unloaded.

RE: Arctic Fox Fox Landing Extra Step.

We use this step It's adjustable for unlevel ground - works great and fits in the slide compartment

RE: City of Grants Pass OR

If someone can shrink ease do. Here is a pick of where we are taken on my phone First let me say that I'm not in favor of the city (in this case). But you are ANYTHING but stealth. Put the jacks UP and hide the leveling blocks a bit better. Really, I think you can figure out a way to get level in the driveway - it's not that steep. Last resort - pop the camper off in the driveway and use the jacks for leveling keeping as close to the ground as possible. You're set up in the street like you're long term.

RE: Dodge 3500 with "Ram Box" pick-up bed???

Lokk at the RAM website RAM Build Sheet. ALL RAM Box trucks are "Not rated for campers" according to RAM. I'd pass on the RAM box. I am looking at another truck and the one I am looking at now has the "Ram Box" pick-up bed. Is there anyone carrying a camper with that pick-up bed? I have a Northern Lite 811

RE: New Ram California DMV issues

Gee, not so cool or fun to buy out of state. Learned anything? You seem a bit bitter about this whole process. What an A$$

RE: Most dangerous states for pickups and SUV's

Statistics can be used to get most any desired result. And this one is meaningless without factoring in the percentage of each on the road. There are liars, damned liars, then there's statistics!

Arctic Fox Pantry Wire Baskets

As we load up the new AF811 for our first (official) camp trip, I've noticed that the narrow, slide out pantry could use another shelf. I've looked online everywhere but cannot seem to find any of these. Any suggestions?

RE: Michelin vs Falken

When I went to my install Guy he said “no way would I run foreign tires” with the loads I carry. He suggested Michelin Defender LTX M/S (purchased from TB as he could not match their price). Thx, Bill Hankook - based in Seoul, South Korea is the seventh largest tire company in the world Bridgestone - is a Japanese rubber conglomerate founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi (?????, Ishibashi Sh?jir??) in the city of Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan Pirelli - founded 1872 in Milan by Giovanni Battista Pirelli, Pirelli & C. SpA is a diverse multinational company based in Milan, Italy Dunlop - Dunlop Tyres was an international United Kingdom-based company founded in 1888 by John Boyd Dunlop Continental Michellin - incorporated on May 28, 1888 in Clermont-Ferrand in the Auvergne région of France BF Goodrich........ Toyo Rough country ?? 4080 lbs load each It's hard to figure exactly where things are made these days. I wouldn't run Chinese tires on anything but Japanese, Korean, European, etc. all seem to have some fine tires. All my tire sources say not to run BF Goodrich AT tires with very heavy loads. (let the barbs fly). Look at Cooper Tires also for heavy loads.

RE: Arctic Fox Truck Campers?

I've been beating the heck out of a used AF TC now for a couple years full time traveling and not using campgrounds. It's bouncing around every single day for 50,000 miles now and that's a used one. Who knows what happened before I got it. The only problems have been the slide stopped working after I used it several times a day every day and the interior cabinetry is made of particle board so the screws holding the doors on strip and loosen too easily. I can't seem to figure out the slide to fix it, but cabinet door issue is fixed in 10 minutes. Just squirt Gorrila glue in the stripped holes and put the screws in. Fixed I've only had my 811 for a week and haven't been on a trip yet but it's been on the side of the house getting outfitted. New AF811 cabinets are solid wood - no pressed wood cabinetry - no laminates. The (new) slide is operated by two heavy duty racks (no cables) and looks about as robust as they come. This is my fourth camper and, by far, the best most thought out camper I've owned. It's heavy too :) Where are you in California? S or N?
