RE: Big Bend National Park

If you don't need hookups, there are dozens of dispersed camping sites throughout the park. Most are tent-only, but there are some that are suitable for RV's. I found them using the Ultimate Campgrounds app.

RE: Garmin GPS

Don't mean to hijack, but while talking GPS, notice the info on campgrounds list Nat, State, and Private campgrounds. Does the info on the 770 or 780 on campgrounds near your route also include Nat Forest, COE, or/and BLM campgrounds? The 780 (and the Overlander) includes the Ultimate Public Campgrounds database which provides info on all federal, state, county and municipal campgrounds.

RE: A Few Places to check out for RV Parks.

My favorite is Ultimate Public Campgrounds. Garmin apparently thinks it's pretty good as well and includes it in it's newest RV-related GPS systems - RV-780/785 and Overlander.

RE: Plan B ..January travel thru the South

There are LOTS of great places to camp besides state parks and commercial campgrounds. With the help of Ultimate Campgrounds we have found some wonderful county and municipal campgrounds. We do usually make a reservation about a week ahead for the major holiday weekends, but otherwise we travel strictly by the seat of our pants and have had virtually no problems finding a campsite. It helps to end your travel early to mid afternoon.

RE: RV park rates

I stayed in a lovely grassed park last night. There are 12 sites with 15 amp power, flush toilets and showers for a fee of $10.00 per night. I was the only camper. Do you find a lot of affordable RV parks like that? If so, how do you find them? We have found Ultimate Campgrounds to be the most helpful in finding cheaper public camping locations.

RE: favorite RV travel app

If you prefer public campgrounds over commercial campgrounds, you can't beat The Ultimate Public Campgrounds Project. It lists over 41,000 locations, far more than other apps.

RE: Daytona/Ormond beach RV parks

I'd recommend Gamble Rogers SRA. It has waterfront sites that can accommodate your rig and a few years ago they added an "inland" campground with large paved sites.

RE: Where to place campground stickers?

Maybe on a sheet of plexiglass, which you could stick to a window with suction cups or whatever. That's what we did our states map. Put it on a sheet of plexiglass and then used Velco strips to fasten it to the inside of the door. Getting a new rig - no problem: the map can easily be moved to the new one.

RE: Quick question about Maine

Try the " Lobster Buoy Campsties" South Thomaston. Not a big place but the ocean is at your door step. Bring your surf casting rod. They only accept cash.. Agreed - this is our favorite CG in Maine. Pix and comments
