RE: Restrictions on older RVs.

The 10 year rule is a tool that campgrounds use to prevent people from dumping old RVs on their property thus avoiding the cost of having a junker towed. If you make reservations and they make a fuss about the age of your rig, tell them you'll send a pic and if they think your rig fits the junker category you'll go somewhere else. Then send them a pic of a new Marathon.

RE: Rindge NH to Jensen Beach Florida

I-91 to I-84. I-84 in Penn has construction, so take US209 to I-80 and hook up with I-81 north of Hazelton. I-81 to Winchester VA then US50/US17 to I-95 just north of Fredricksburg VA. This misses all the NYC/NJ/DC mess and doesn't add significant distance to the trip.

RE: Ozark resort

Table Rock SP has full hookups and a nice location. $30 a night. We didn't stay at Branson Lakeside but we drove through to check it out and it looked nice. The advantage to Lakeside is that you don't need to drive the entire strip to get there. It's close to the old downtown that has a cool 5&10.

RE: SUV for Towing

I certainly wouldn't look at anything smaller than a Traverse / Acadia / X5. Chevy did bring back the Trailblazer but the specs limit the tow cap at 4500 lbs. Tahoe/Yukon would be a better choice.

RE: Vermont to DC bypass NYC

Reading about lots of construction on I-84 in PA. I'd do I-91 to I-84 to US 209 (just inside PA) to I-80 to hook up with I-81. Slower but more scenic is skipping I-80 and take Rt33 to I-78.

RE: College Park MD to Nags Head OBX

US 50 to US301 south over the Potomac at the Gov. Nice bridge then I-295 to I-64, then Rt 158 to Rt 168 to Rt 12. Need to turn off propane in the Norfolk tunnels.

RE: Help finding nightly parking for our caravan

Thank you for your replies. Would anyone by chance know if there’s a website that can map a trip in 10 hour increments so we can plan our stopping points each day? Thanks. RV Trip Wizard does that. 10 hours is a long day, especially for dogs.

RE: Help finding nightly parking for our caravan

Free Campsites lists free places to park. The further east you go, the harder it will be to find a suitable spot. Also, Harvest Hosts lists places open for a free overnight. It costs $50 to join. I would set the search filter on museums and farms. I doubt that wineries would be too welcoming. The Allstays app for Android and iOS will help if you get stuck for the night somewhere not planned. I'm sure you realize that this type of operation requires a lot of logistical planning. I would have every stop lined up before leaving and use Allstays if things don't go according to the plan.

RE: Rvers beware

After reading the ordinance, it seems like Fanatic could just put a sign in the windshield saying "Not Camping - Picking Up Mail" and nothing would have happened. It might be smarter to pick a parking spot that is not next to a homeless camp. Much to do about nothing. Vloggers running out of stuff to report.

RE: King Dome

I’m not sure what you mean by your east coast coming. A Winegard Pathway X2 for DISH lets you select eastern OR western arcs so works great coast to coast. The new King Tailgater does as well. Portable, but I think King makes a roof mount.

RE: Heading to outer banks

Is there a spot/place heading south to pull into to turn off the propane? There's a "bridge tunnel observation area" just before the first bridge southbound.

RE: Heading to outer banks

You'll have to turn off your propane in the CBBT.

RE: campground in Gulfport mississippi

Here are directions to Buccaneer State Park, written by the Park Staff. DO NOT use GPS directions. https://www.mdwfp.com/media/2524/directions_to_buccaneer_state_park.pdf Park website. https://www.mdwfp.com/parks-destinations/state-parks/buccaneer/ Charles Ya, the trouble is using those directions takes you over a steep grade crossing on Nicholson Ave. This didn't happen at that grade crossing, but they are all steep, and depending on your rig, why chance it? The crossing on Lakeshore is flat. There are at least 50 trains a day going through there. Not much time to think if you get stuck. Here's the Nicholson Ave crossing. Look at all the scrapes in the road where things have been dragging.

RE: 12/24v Solar Controller --> 6v Batteries

I had an issue with solar overcharging that ended up being caused by someone connecting the charger wrong. You need to connect the batteries first, then the panels.

RE: Diesel Pusher, side vs rear mount radiator

One thing to consider about a side rad is the drive. If it's a complicated hydraulic drive mechanism, there are a lot of things that can go wrong. The old Detroit buses had a drive shaft/belt arrangement tat also had a lot of moving parts. I don't know why RV chassis designers don't use electric fans like the auto industry.

RE: RV toilet paper

The "standard" test is to put your favorite brand in a container of water and shake it. If it breaks apart, you're good to go. Some multi-ply papers have glues that cause problems with black tank sensors. These will not break put in the jar test. Remember, the black tank is a holding tank, not a septic tank. Stuff shouldn't sit in there long enough for the bacterial breakdown to take over.

RE: MN new laws August 1st

Why pass a law if no one will enforce it? Because many people will obey the law and that in itself is beneficial. Here's the problem with that. Those people become self-righteous and try to enforce the law themselves. A recent discussion about scofflaw cyclists is a good example of what can happen when laws are ignored. It is not the job of LEOs to decide which laws are enforced. People that continually get away with doing wrong tend to tick off others who are obeying laws. Then they see a cop sitting at a donut shop and get stressed out even more.
