RE: no high beam headlights

Had a similar problem a few years back. Brights but no dims. Turned out to be the wire harness in the column.

RE: RV Refrigerator in cold weather

In conjunction with a 200W heater, we use a TC-3 to turn on the heater at 35 and off at 45.

RE: Portable Satellite Cable Storage..ideas??

For several years now I have been using the Winegard Carryout antenna for Directv... I have attached 2 (50 ft) RG-6 cables along with the power cord to it.. I the past I have just coiled up the wires in about a 3 ft circle when storing them and antenna but am looking for a better / easier / smaller way to do it.. Question.. Will wrapping RG-6 around a extension cord reel (approx 8 inch circle) damage the RG-6? Just looking for a smaller and more neat way to store the wires as hooking and unhooking them from the antenna everytime is a PIA.. No. It will not damage the cable. You will be OK, as long as you do not kink (bend) and unkink the cable.

Did you look to see if you lost any weep hole covers?

RE: What am I doing wrong ?

Did you check the switch settings to see how many satellites it could see? Sat channels are only available if you can connect to the satellite it is broadcast on. Are you using a home Dish service or Dish Outdoors? Dish outdoors uses spot beams for locals based on your physical location. If you move out of area a to area b, and did not change your service location, you will not receive any locals in area b, until you update your location. In reverse, if you change your location to area b and return to area a, you will not receive locals until you update your service location.

RE: Question on charging batteries with Gen

Here is what we did. As someone recommended, if you can, test timing and draw in your driveway. Look at the RR data plate. Our Samsung RF18 sips at 3 amps. Some do sip a little more. Our MH had 2 GC2s at 230ah and a Tripp Lite rv1250ulhw inverter/charger. With nothing running but the RR (and parasitics), we last 10-12 hours, with outside of 75 degrees, in the sun. Fridge stays 34 and freezer at -2. Our last off grid was only 4 nights. We had to run the Onan 7K 2 hours a.m. and 2 hours p.m. to bring batts back up We recently changed to 2 Battleborn, 100A batts. Have not tested, yet. What RR is in the rig? How many and what batts do you have?

RE: SSD Storage

Look in CONTROL PANEL/ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS/COMPUTER MANAGEMENT. On the next window, under STORAGE click on disk management. The middle column will show all the drives on the computer. Assuming you can see the drive, sometimes drive letter administration doesn't work correctly and your SSD might want to use drive F (not H) but it is already in use. You can assign a new letter to the SSD. When I do this I usually use letters near the end so it doesn't get overwritten. Obviously if it is not showing there are other problems. ^^^^^ This. Also note in disk management that some new drives need to be 'Initialized' and 'formatted', before OS will recognize.

RE: clicking - water heater

What is the state of your house batteries? If your WH turns off when the converter is off, it may be because it is not getting enough power from 12v system.

RE: Only thing getting power is the 220V Appliance!?

Wait! Before you go buying stuff off of others recommendations, I think something is missing? Is you camper a 30 amp rig? Is it a trailer or MH? What make and model? That is what I think you are saying. Take a pic of the 120 volt circuit breakers and post them. Take a pic of your Auto Transfer switch, if you have one and post it here. Photo Posting App page.

RE: WiFi

If you are using the internal (wifi)air card, it may be your location. The internal aircards are usually very weak, so they do not reach back to the source. Do others near you have the same problem? If not, you may need an external repeater or router to boost relay the signal.

Velcro strap around the RR door handles to keep them closed in transit.

RE: Can I use 20 amp service

Assuming you are fairly close to the outlet and you use your 30amp cord with an adapter at the 20 amp outlet, voltage drop is unlikely to be any more of an issue than if you plugged into a 30amp outlet at a campground. Also, if it is using an outlet that is part of a (garage/outside) gang, it may already be feeding things, which reduce available electricity on that gang. i.e. The fridge/freezer in the garage kicks in and puts you in a brown out or pops the breaker.

RE: Can I use 20 amp service

Another thought. I would not use the hockey puck style 20 - 30 amp adapter. I think they produce heat in too small of an area and burn up fast. I use only dog bone style adapters.

RE: Can I use 20 amp service

If we are not going to run the A/C can we use20amp service safely? I o ly have 20 amp athome a dI use an adapter to run the fridge and lights but what if we need to use the furnace would that be safe? Yes. You are safe running as you describe, including the furnace. As to the answers saying you can run your AC, that is technically correct but a very incomplete answer. You could be causing damage to your AC. If the voltage drops below 104, the AC will start accumulating damage. You are not likely to see it but it will likely cause your AC to fail before it's life expectancy. If you want to run the AC, put in an EMS that can shut off electricity below 104 volts. I have been to a park where my PI EMS saw the electricity drop to 97 and then the PI shut off my electricity. If you do not have an EMS, at least get a Kill-A-Watt to monitor electricity, when you turn on the AC.

RE: EMS/Surge Protection or.... TPMS???

promiscuous Power Pole Princess We resemble that remark. We do dry camp for about 5 days each year now. Agree that my comment is tailored to being tethered and for those that dry camp, the TPMS would move up in priority.
