RE: Combining black & grey tanks

NOT so much having to “pull” two handles, BUT to NOT have the grey tank filled up so fast that I have to dump more often; I can add dish water & “run off” shower water, but that also runs the risk of the water sloshing into the composting/ solid waste side. You have me confused. What I read is that you now have three chambers. The composting toilet has one. The composting urine bypass runs to the second/black tank and grey water runs into the third/grey tank. Does the urine bypass have a check valve to prevent back flow from the black tank? Does your MH have a combined exit valve like this? If so, others above have explained simple method of adding the Valterra (one brand) gate valve (like below) to combine and control the dump.

RE: How to turn off interior lights while driving

I'd suggest asking a few neighbors in the RV park you are staying in. RVer's are friendly people and we were all new to this at one time. Tell your neighbor you are new and ask if they could help you. This is an awesome suggestion!

We do not lock ours. You might also look at the Hughes Watchdog.

King Bed Head Lift

We have a 2019 Tiffin Allegro RED 37BA with a King size bed. We would like to replace the mattress with ability for the head to raise electrically. No manual up and down on this. Also would like each side to raise independently, so we can adjust it to individual likes. Any suggestions?

RE: Generator to run three RV's?

A separate genny for each also makes sense so that independent trips could also be taken and the genny's would then be portable for that purpose.

RE: Dometic Refrgerator RM1350 I give up

I finally gave up on the Dometic and installed a new Samsung RF18 on Friday. We really liked our RF18. I bet you do. also.

RE: lithium question

No. Just any charger could cause damage. You need to see the mfgr recommendations. Most require a charger that can be set to charge no higher than 14.4.

RE: LiFePo battery upgrade question

Depending on the alternator output, the answer is yes. For high output alternators you need a DC - DC convertor or a Victron Cyrix-li-ct.

RE: Refrigerator replacement

Have you considered the RF18. If you are a veteran, you can get 10% off. We found 1 on sale and received the 10% mil discount, as well. Does not require PSW.

RE: New motor home blues…

I would call Tiffin or write them. Provide list of repairs and all associated costs, including lost camping fees. They were pretty good about responding and taking care of these type issues, including reimbursements.

RE: New laptop--- clone hard drive?

Probably. Does the refurbished laptop have the same HD, Video card, NIC, etc? What is different? If anything is different it might present different issues, based on driver compatibility.

RE: Leveling Jack Pads/Slide Out Supports

Jack pads, yes. Slide supports, no. For slides, I believe the mfgr says no to those.

RE: Handling “hard dried stuff” in the black tank ?

Water and Rid X or enzymes. Let it stew. Flush.

RE: Do you always need an RV Park ? .....

OP, Do what you feel is right for you. As someone above said, that is why we have choices. When our destination is more important than the journey, we use Walmart, Cracker Barrel, Truck stop, rest areas, etc. You do you.

RE: Barker Automatic valve openers

Do they come with a remote control so you can dump the tanks while rolling down the interstate :@ They do, but only works here in PA ! ?? Dave Matthews would disagree with you!

RE: House battery charging options

Your test is a good idea but take into consideration that if you run the furnace and fridge during the day, the furnace and/or fridge may not run as often as during a cool/cold night. Many places have quiet hours 10-6 or longer. You will likely find that a single 12v (wet) battery will likely not get you through the night. I think the suggested 6v GC is a good consideration. Another consideration might be multiple lithium. You get to use most of the AH in them, say down to 5-10%.

RE: Spouse left behind after death at a Campsite, what to do?

Due to my precarious situation and high-risk life style (I frequently sass my wife and 'forget' to do assigned tasks) my wife early on made sure she was capable of doing everything necessary to break down camp and get home by herself. In fact I have come back to the camp from taking a solo hike to find that she decided to run a drill and had left. So, as regards the RV portion, she is well trained and able. In regards to disposition of my body, once again, planning ahead pays dividends. She bought an extra-large gas propane fire pit. Her plan, she tells me, is to simply cremate me on the spot. She did, however, give me some input on her plan. She has agreed to spread my ashes on the floor of our local Eddie Bauer outlet store. This way I know she will come frequently to visit me.:B

RE: Touchy subject - proper toilet paper for black tank

Get 100 grain but 220 grain is better.:B TP is TP. X2 Use what ever you use at home. I use Charmin, it does not disintegrate like the over hyped RV toilet paper. And it never causes any problem with the black tank. It is a holding tank. We have had septic for over 20 years and I grew up on septic. We use/used what was nice on our bums.
