RE: Late-model 1/2 Ton and 30+ feet - Real world experiences...

I tow a trailer a fraction under 30' that weigh 8000 loaded to camp. I went from a 2001 2500 Suburban with the 8.1 and 4.10 to a 2012 F-150 with the HD Payload option and have no regrets. I am within all limits (payload, RAWR, hitch, etc.). I use a Reese dual cam. First, to emphasize I got the HD Payload package for a heavier set of axles and suspension. I prefer how the 3.5 Ecoboost and 6 speed delivers power. The integrated braking was superior. More quiet and comfortable ride. The 8.1 with the 4.10 had better engine braking. Take it easy, Stu

RE: Nissan Titan XD 5.0L Cummins?

Them not selling well is also a concern. Not popular = good deal now = probably not a good trade in value down the road. This. Plus, available parts and how many folks have eexperience working on it? Now how about a test drive of the Ram 2500 with the 6.4 and new transmission... Take it easy, Stu

RE: Towing Capacity Question

What does the yellow payload sticker on the driver door list for payload? My trailer weighs 6500 empty and 8000 loaded. My loaded tongue weight is right around 1,000. Take it easy, Stu

RE: Ram outsells Chevrolet.

I am impressed that Ram trucks have more than doubled their sales in 7 years. In 2011 they sold 244,762 and in 2018 they sold 536,980. In the same period Chevy Silverado sales went from 415,130 to 585,581. This echos many posts on this forum that Ram has stepped up their game big time. Take it easy, Stu ps Info from car sales database.com

RE: Nitto Terra Grappler or Ridge Grappler?

I expect to get mine next week. I'll share my impressions, light duty and all. ;) Will be curious how they run and looking forward to your report for both summer and winter driving. Like ShinerBock mentioned I thought it was interesting re: the Nitto published characteristics of the two tires. Per the web sites characteristics the Ridge Grapplers exceeding the G2 in a few categories. However it occurred to me they do not show winter / ice in the list. The G2s appear to put more rubber on the ground with more full depth sipes that should help on packed snow and ice. Take it easy, Stu

RE: Would gas engine opinions change if.....

I'm from the era when they used to have gauges to tell you what the motor was doing, then they came out with idiot lights. we used to buy gauges and find a place to put them on the dash so we could know what our cars motor was doing. I like the fact that today's trucks have gauges back in service again Swapped out the idiot light on my ‘72 Chevy for a temp gauge. I felt better knowing the temperature when pulling hills, etc. Ended up selling it to a buddy of mine. A couple years later he is towing a boat over Mt Hood and the engine is getting real slluggish. He looks at the temp gauge and it got so hot the needle had broken off. So yea, good to have a light to accompany those gauges. ; ) Take it easy, Stu

RE: Would gas engine opinions change if.....

I think the powertrain behavior directly translates into driving comfort. Add a turbo or two and enjoy the benefits of low end torque, lower rpms and fewer downshifts. There is a reason the EcoBoost is a popular engine on this forum. Is it like one of the big diesels? No, but it covers a broad spectrum of folks who tow. Take it easy, Stu
