LP Level Indicators not working

2018 Jayco Alante 26X Coach My propane level indicator lights on the inside main control panel does not work. Reads "E" all the time. Tank Gauge reads full. Battery, Water, Black, Grey indicators are working. What is the theory behind the LP Sensor? How do you do you trouble shoot? I am sure it is a generic indicator system since I had the same thing on my Thor Chateau except it worked. Thanks, Al

Surge Protectors, 2 or 1 or none

I have a class C with 30A 120V Power system and plug. I have a 30A to 50A dongle so I have the option of plugging into a 50A shore power plug if necessary. My question is, can I get away with a 30A surge protector in both cases above, or do I need a 50A surge protector as well? Thanks, Al

RE: Dark Sky Camping

I enjoy taking "dark sky" photos, and have found many places in the west work well. As others have mentioned, getting away from cities & trying for high altitudes helps. One of my favorite milky way photos includes skies that are not all that dark, but with a meteor and Devils Tower, I like it. Beautiful Thanks

RE: Dark Sky Camping

Thanks all for your suggestion. Our first Dark Sky trip will be on Wednesday. 55 minutes from our home to Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park, Okeechobee, FL. Designated as a dark blue / light gray for light pollution. https://www.floridastateparks.org/learn/dark-sky-designation It is the largest most primitive prairie in Florida, probably in the South East as prairies go. Then we are going to try Bahia Honda State Park in Big Pine Key, FL. Another on the dark sky list as dark blue. Beautiful water Sunrises and Sunsets. Hopefully, this will whet our appetites for the dark grey / black Dark Sky Parks in the South, Southwest.

RE: RV Shower Hot (or cold) water blast

I got the 2017 Thor Chateau 22B Class B out of the hanger and worked on the shower. This is how I fixed the Shower. It turns out that the hot water was the higher pressure so the blast when opening the dribble valve was scalding hot water. Therefore the it was too dangerous to use the "turn the shower head towards the wall for a few seconds method. I have a Oxygenics 26481 Brushed Nickel Body Spa RV Shower Kit installed. Much better the the original equipment piece of ****. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AZOWSJM/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Problem: When turning the dribble valve on after 1 minute, the water was scalding hot for a few seconds until it normalized. Potentially hazardous situation. First, installed a shut off valve: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JQDKTUS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This alone did not fix the problem, but I think it is part of the fix. If allowed to dribble, will fill the hose with the higher pressure water which is HOT. Next, I installed a Camco 23303 1/2" Back-Flow Preventer https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EDUTN6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 on the cold side behind the control. This is the side with the lower pressure and the hot water would feed back into the cold water line. That fixed it. The added bonus is that we leave the in the position for the correct shower temp and just use the shut valve. Installation note: on the Chateau or Four Winds there is a clearance issue when installing the Back-Flow Preventer on the cold water. The hot water had clearance. There are several ways to fix it. I took the easy way out and flipped the faucet over to get the clearance on the cold.

RE: Dark Sky Camping

Don't know how far you want to travel but this is one of the best. Stayed there many times because it is only 1/2 hour to the jump off points to the wilderness area and world class trout fishing. Stars so bright you can't sleep and only 4 miles off state highway on paved road. Tinbender Thanks, exactly which state and park are you talking about

RE: RV Shower Hot (or cold) water blast

I bought a check valve to put in the water line but never did install it. I did install a shutoff valve at the shower head and that has totally cured the cold water blast problem. The problem is caused by the water dribbling from the shower head with the built in shutoff that doesn't fully shut off. Just add an inline shut off and all is good and it's easy to do. I bought the KES Shower Head Shut-Off Valve Brass with Metal Handle Polished Chrome K1140B3 from Amazon for about $12. I have on K1140B3 on order and will try this first, by removing and replacing the dribble valve . If it works, I will return the check valves. I don't understand why the dribble valve causes the problem, but if replacing it with a shut off works, I don't need to know. Best Regards, Thanks

RE: RV Shower Hot (or cold) water blast

After some more research, this you tube video explains, experiments, and offers a simple cheap fix the best in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=BpnNZWdlcfc

RE: RV Shower Hot (or cold) water blast

Turn shower head against shower wall when turning back on Thanks, the problem is I probably will have to get blasted with cold water once every shower for a couple of years before I remember. Could be interesting for guests. Do I tell them? Once I find out their political persuasion I can decide whether to tell them or not.

RE: RV Shower Hot (or cold) water blast

I installed check valves on our shower feed lines to eliminate the backflow issues that cause the hot/cold blast when the shower head shutoff is used. Thanks. Where did you install check valves? I assume it doesn't matter where you install them?

Dark Sky Camping

22' Class C, Home Port: Florida I am looking for a campsite in a Dark Sky region in the U.S. We want to see the constellations in a dark sky. I assume we will have to dry camp for a couple of nights which is no problem, maybe a BLM site. We will need to get the 22' Class C to the site, but it is pretty nimble. Any recommendations?

RV Shower Hot (or cold) water blast

We use the shower head "shut off" to conserve water, when we turn it back on the water is hot and it takes a few seconds to normalize to the set temperature. Any solutions? Best Regards
