RE: Slide seal protectant

Haven't ever done mine. No problems. If I did it would be 303 never Armor All. "Tech" doesn't know squat in my opinion. B.O.

RE: Question for ZEP (RMP) users?

I did all the prep work then used the Zep. Looked great for a few months. Then it started to crack and flake off. What a mess. Had to use stripper and scrub several times to clean it off. Finally had it painted and never looked back. In my opinion the only real solution is paint. RV dealers are not usually equipped to do this and farm it out, then mark it up. Shop some truck and equipment shops that will have a big enough paint booth. B.O.

RE: Roof freckles

It matters plenty. Road soot collects on the roof, gets wet &washes down the sides as black streaks. Fine if you don't particularly care about the appearance of your rig & what that eventually has to do with its value. Did the roof of mine today giving it a good going over after a 3 1/2 month seven thousand mile trip. Followed the cleaning with a good application of 303. Mine has rain gutters that work real good. I get no streaks down the sides. As far as resale....last two I traded in and the price I got was sight unseen. Dealers never laid eyes on them until I showed up to do the deal. In all honesty I would put the condition of mine up against anybody's. After a few years there is no resale value anyway. B.O.

RE: Roof freckles

Why does it matter? Mine gets washed maybe every year or so. Just want to get the big stuff off. I don't wash the roof on my house why the RV? B.O.

RE: Maintaining air gap in new Atwood water heater

I am familiar with the procedure of how to get an air gap in a RV water heater to prevent pressure valve leak, but this new Atwood water heater just will not maintain the air gap. Do you think it is A bad relief valve? Thanks for your feed back. well, I'm not. we're in year 33 of this RV thing and have never heard of a WH air gap. not being sarcastic...just wondering what the heck you're talking about. 40 plus years for us never heard of it either. RE: Patio Mat Anchoring

I use gutter spikes they are long are about 6 inches long and are normally used to attach rain gutters to houses. I slip a fender washer on them and drive them flush with the carpet. B.O.

RE: Topper under mattress

For not much more $$$ you can just replace the mattress. We tried a topper first then just bought a 12" Zinus foam mattress. Took care if the problem. B.O.

RE: Are these stickers needed??

I took all that advertising junk off of mine. I did leave the RVIA sticker by the door. Hate all that junk. Nobody pays any attention to it anyway. B.O.

RE: I need a large 5th wheel but am I looking too large?

What is this 50 ft. 3 br. fifth wheel you speak of? Never saw anything like that except for custom made $$$$ rigs. B.O.

RE: Financing question

We went to our credit union and set it all up. Got the total amount needed from the dealer including tax etc. Credit union gave us a check for the total. Gave it to the dealer, done deal. 2.99% for 5 years. B.O.

RE: Tow/Haul off or on(ram)

The TC clutch does not release even in normal mode as you slow down until you get down to a certain speed. Tow/haul lowers this speed threshold. The main thing tow/haul does is change shift points. It holds gears longer when up-shifting to keep you higher rpms for more power. This is better for your transmission when towing. It also downshift earlier when decelerating to help slow down the vehicle quicker. This is not good for your transmission, but it is not that bad either. Another thing that some transmissions do in tow haul mode is increase the line pressure threshold. This changes the shifts from nice smooth shifts to more firm shifts. This is good for your transmission because it decreases clutch wear and creates less heat due to decreasing the amount of time the clutch slips at each engagement/shift. What he magic, it's designed to make towing easier on your transmission. No reason not to use it. B.O.

RE: Front landing gear broke

A 3-ton jack probably won't be strong enough to do the lifting. You might need a 10 or 12 ton jack to do the job easier. What and how did it break? 3 ton jack will be fine. Most of the weight is on the wheels. You are only lifting 1/2 of the tongue weight. Probably just broke the shear bolt in the tube that runs between the jacks. B.O.

RE: proper hook up procedure?

I use chocks and raise the trailer until the hitch is about 1/2" above the fifth wheel plate. I then back into in at it latches. I leave the front jack legs down and never have had a problem. I don't slide the hitch up the plate as it will put a strain on the jacks. B.O.

RE: Gas Mileage

Some of the higher octane fuel in my neck of the woods is fortified with ethanol to boost the octane. In the grand scheme of things it will probably reduce the mpg. B.O.

RE: MN new laws August 1st

I agree with fj12ryder. We already have plenty of laws they don't enforce now. Just added a couple more. Barely slow down for stop signs, drive as fast as you want, turn signals are optional. MN land of 10,000 lakes and some of the worst drivers in the country. Not to worry mandatory proof of insurance laws aren't enforced either. Legislature makes up lots of laws but they don't provide any additional means to enforce them. B.O.

RE: Furrion Back-up Camera

I have the observation model. Installed it myself. Trailer was pre-wired took all of 10 minutes. Pretty disappointed. Pixilates, freezes up and drops out. 40 ft. fifth wheel. Don't know if they make a booster, maybe that would help. I keep mine in a drawer next to the tire pressure monitor that doesn't work very well either. B.O.

RE: Traveling with a Residential Fridge?

I have a residential refer in my fifth wheel. There are four 6 volt batteries powering my invertor. Never had a problem with it. Cools faster and better in hot weather. Once it cools down it doesn't run that much. Don't think I would ever go back. B.O.

RE: slide-out switch nightmare

I doubt that you will get a schematic for the wiring. In most cases they don't exist. If your slides are hydraulic the only solution would be some form of a valve, whether it's a manual valve or electric solenoid type. If they are electric it shouldn't be very hard to wire in a shut off for each slide. Then when you want to bring them on line you would just have to power them up. B.O.
