RE: Morryde Rubber pin box

Spend the extra money and get you an air ride pin box. We have a Reese 5th Airborne. I have one right now (Lippert Trail Aire) piece of junk. How much good can it really do when it only moves up and down about an inch and a half at the most. It's coming off to be replaced by a MorRyde I have sitting on my garage floor.

RE: Opinions on Grand Design Fifth Wheels

Run of the mill fifth wheel. Same major components as most of the rest. Same type of construction as most others use. How much better can they be??

RE: Portable air compressor

The whole concept of carrying a compressor has me scratching my head.
If your tires are losing air you have a problem, get it fixed.
I check tire pressures as part of my routine periodic circle check, but I can’t remember the last time I needed to add any air, then because I’d picked up a screw. Can't always get it in to have it fixed right away if I'm on the road. Hard to get into a station for air and many don't have enough pressure.

RE: Pullrite Superlite - Best Dry Graphite Lubricant

Not talking about a Super Glide type hitch. This is a light weight stationary hitch, much like an Anderson hitch.
I would use graphite spray on the funnel if anything.

RE: General 5th Wheel Brand Question

I bought a Cedar Creek 2016 Hathaway model. Here's what I like: Hung walls with residential insulation. Walls have studs on 16" centers and are screwed in place. Cannot delaminate, have room to allow electrical boxes and plugs on outside walls. Hydraulic leveling and slide out mechanisms. Room on each side of the bed even into the slide-out. Making the bed is a breeze. Very quiet and efficient ducted A/C. "I" beam frame also has a square tube stiffener welded along the length for reinforcement. Brand name appliances, carpet, furniture and mattress. Very happy with ours. Factory has been very receptive about sending me parts for things I can fix or okaying mobile service for other repairs.'

RE: Snowbird Refunds

I got taken for a $200.00 deposit by a park in Edinburg TX. when I found I had to have surgery for cancer. Let them know on plenty of time. No concessions of any kind. I'm doing fine now, needless to say I'll never go back there.

RE: Cost to install apparatus for Flat-towing

So if I buy new, use it ten years, it gets worn out and fails, you’ll be ok?
Have you heard of anybody that’s has been sued for equipment failure?
Bald tires? Overweight?
Insurance pays for all that. Civil suits happen but they are rare. 100% correct. The sky is not falling. Pretty easy to look at a tow bar and mount to see if something is wrong with it.

RE: Realistic Price for Class C

They sell RVs, cars whatever everyday. You buy once every year or five years. There is no way you can beat them at their game. The best you can do is to stack the odds in your favor. The salesperson doesn't just have to sell you, they have to sell the sales manager also if they want to get a commission. Best day to buy is the last day of the month for sure. They have quotas and bonuses at stake. That last little skinny deal they make this month might just put them over the top for a fat bonus check.

I haven't hear a complaint about about a newer model RV with a Lippert frame in several years. Like all the old ST tire complaints I think that has pretty much come to an end.

RE: our current FINANCIAL situation

Retired. Nothing has changed. Pensions are the same, SS is the same. Same lifestyle. Like a lot of retirees, if we decide we want something, if we can afford it, we buy it. I think that's where a lot of RV sales are going.

RE: How much off MSRP now?

At least one manufacturer increased the margins on the MSRP to over 50% nearer 60%.
When they say they are losing money on every unit they sell, offer to lock the doors for them.
Yes I would shoot for 50% to 55% off even 60% as any unit unsold cost them money on floor plan interest. Those buying RVs may be in better financial situations than many still working...most have to watch the budget and budgets are shrinking as Retirements took a very serious hit. Sales are way down now, and they want to move inventory. They will try to get the most out of a Consuemr as they can. If you feel like you are not going to get the deal you wnt, take the figures they give you and shop and bluff. Line up financing first if you can that is a letter of credit in the old days. Offer them 50% and no more and tell them you are ready to write the check t your price. Can't imagine this will fly. They can only go so low. Don't think any dealer is going to sell at a loss just to sell a unit.

RE: BIL with Superglide drops his trailer

X3 Get out, bend over and look with a flashlight. Check that the pin is captured by the fifth wheel. You may be high hitched, or maybe submarined the pin (pin rode up and over, dropped in front of the fifth wheel). Do it the same way every time. Don't let people or events distract you. Checklists are good, if you use them. I agree 100% One of the first things you learn in a class A drivers training class is to get out and shine your flashlight at the pin and make sure it is properly latched. It is very easy to high hitch a Super Glide. Had one.

RE: New Truck 4x4 or 4x2 ??

Do yourself a big favor and get a F350 and skip the F250,it is all about payload. Even with a gas engine, you want as much payload as possible.
He's got a good point ESPECIALLY if you get a 250 diesel. Then you've got just as much payload as a 150. But you do need to check license fees some places like Cal. really hammer the 1 ton trucks.

Other places like Minnesota really hammer anything smaller than a one ton. Example my one-ton is based on weight, plates cost around $150.00/yr. Ram 2500 I got rid of started at well over $500.00 a year. It was based on value.

RE: Kia Soul as a dinghy

Call Kia customer service and get the straight answer. You might be able to tow it anyway but it will probably void your warranty without their blessing. An option would be to find a 2019 model. They're out there.
