RE: New truck and TC.

Pete I am in a similar situation. I have an 2006 f350 dually with a9' 6" slide in. My gvw is 14000 lbs, truck weighs with 7/8 fuel tank horse matt, and me in it 8250lbs. Giving me approximately 5725lbs for my new host Cascade. I feel like I'm gonna be ok with these numbers unless camper weighs more than I'm expecting (they always do). I almost went down the fifth wheel road but I'm glad I didn't. I'm only trading for more comfortable seating. Barry

Ognend, I've been wondering the same thing with my cascade build. Hope they do not cut too many corners to get them out the door. Good luck with your new camper and safe travels to pick up your new camper.

RE: Ordered Host cascade today

zb39, what is your new cascade weigh loaded ready to camp? I know that it is a non issue for you with your weight carring capacity. I feel like I will be ok with my 350. It's gonna be close. Barry

Zb39, really great to hear you are liking your Cascade. You give me more confidence that we are making the right decision trading for the Cascade. Keep enjoying and shoot us a picture or two of your new camper. Barry

I'd like to thank all that have responded and viewed my post. Believe it or not RV.Net is pretty good medicine for delayed camper syndrome. I like pictures so I'll share a couple This was the back road travelling from the ferry dock to the cape lookout light house. Ferry that is used to float us over to the island. Beautiful sunset on the island Hurricane Mathew caused a whole lot of extra water to deal with. Beach was pretty much under water so travel was done on the back road. Park service evacuated the island pre hurricane. Barry

RE: Delays in camper buiddate

I haven't been truck shopping in a while, 2006 to be exact. My truck, I've always called it my retirement truck. It has 50487 miles on the odometer. It's an older truck now but still young at heart. I'm sure I would be sticker shocked if I were to visit a dealer. Hoping I want need to for a while. New trucks are always fun and challengeing. Lots of work to change out the supports for my cooler rack, change the tie downs, change umbilical cord. That's not all but I think you get my point. Good luck 3 tons on your new trade. Barry

RE: Delays in camper buiddate

Thanks for the link for the SowRiver history. I've not seen that since owning mine since 2004. I had two years of research finding the SnowRiver and finally driving from NE north carolina to pick it up at five star rv. I felt then the first time seeing, that this camper was quality. We spent nine days on that adventure and 17 years later I've not incountered one issue with the slide the frame work or water intrusion. I've done my part to store it right over the years. It would be my choice today if they were still in business. I made a little bit of history myself on that trip as I was told by Bob himself to be the first customer with a SnowRiver east of the Mississippi. Barry

Mike what a beautiful camp site, I could stay there 2 weeks or more. Front hitch was custom made by Ray's racks in Mann's Harbor nc. I do not think he is still in business. He was the best back in the day. Those front racks support a great deal of weight and do quite a bit of bouncing at times no matter how gentle you are trying to treat your equipment. This was a trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to pick up my smoker built by Shirley Fabrication. I had to wait 14 months for it, so worth the wait. Hoping that is how I will feel when I pick up the new Host.

I feel like I have my f350 dually ready for the new cascade. My truck has rancho 9000x shocks and Firestone air bags. Truck weighs 8260 lbs with 3/4 tank of fuel, no passengers. The truck has a gvw of 14000 lbs. Barry

RE: Delays in camper buiddate

Good time, bad time, who really knows that answer. For us it was the right time. Somehow you just know. I'm not looking back. I had no idea how hard it was going to be growing old. Everything takes longer to do and somethings just can't do anymore. Really looking forward to the new camper. Barry

RE: Delays in camper buiddate

I'm just gonna be patient as I can. My wife and I have thought of getting another camper for a while now. We really never saw a camper we would trade our Snowriver for till we looked at a used Host Cascade at DH&V rv in apex, nc. We liked the camper just not the used 2018 Cascade we visited. It had been abused, appeared to have structural damage. So we ordered a new one. It is fun to dream of the new camper and the adventures we will still be making in a TC. Barry

My wait in the scheme of things is not important. Sorry for your troubles in the new environment we live in. Maybe next year things will get back to normal. Barry

Delays in camper buiddate

Called to get an update for my Host Cascade build. I signed the papers March 31, I was given a build date last of September, first of October. Build date has been pushed to end of October, first of November. Obtaining materials and components are causing the delays. I'm now thinking I may not even have my camper by the end of the year. Just venting. Barry

RE: When do you upgrade

I bought my snowriver 9'6 dry shower in 2004 fron five star rv in Henderson, Colorado. Ive looked at campers off and on for about 5 years. I'm now in the process of trading it for a host cascade with dual recliners. The recliners are the biggest reason for trading. I still feel after 17 years in the SR there isn't a better quality tc out there. I'm hoping the Host quality doesn't let me down. The wife and I just need a more comfortable place to sit when we are forced to be inside. Barry

RE: 2022 Host Cascade

No, bought mine from Toms Camper land in Mesa, Arizona. Was expecting to purchase from d&h. I was totally surprised. We are looking forward to the trip as much as picking up the new cascade. Barry
