RE: Loss of Power after New Fan Clutch

In 13 years I have heard that roar 2x, both times about 30 secs on my Duramax. Yea, I know, different truck, different etc, etc,. If it happened very often I would have junked the truck. That is a terrible noise!! Along with reduced power, you know something is wrong. Take it back to where it was repaired and don't take no for an answer. You know people would not be buying trucks if that is normal.

RE: Insurance!

If you had $5000 worth of expensive furniture in your truck and you were in a crash and rolled the truck and ruined the furniture, the auto policy would cover damage to the truck and homeowner's would cover the loss of the furniture. Same with the camper, it's personal property like furniture, not a vehicle. My understanding is you need separate collision for the camper, it is not "personal property". Tow vehicle protects for liability if camper causes damage while being towed, or comes loose. Homeowner policy used for loss of furniture and personal liability on camper. That's how it was explained to me by insurance agent.

RE: Towing Disaster-AAA

Got a CEL with downgraded power on Saluda grade. Told AAA I had a fifth wheel. They sent a tow truck. Called AAA back and said nothing they could do. Tow truck driver said he knew someone with a truck and fifth wheel hitch and he would come get it and things worked out. Drove truck home and found out CEL was because fuel filter "zeroed out". Don't know how that happened as I ususally keep a constant check on fuel and filter mileage. Watching my camper going down the road the other way was a strange feeling but guy taking my camper was luckily an honest guy.

RE: Typical cost per mile to transport 5th Wheel

SweetLou wrote: If there are truly gas/diesel shortages coming d/t lack of tanker truck drivers, expect a lot Where did that come from? There is a lack of long haul drivers, due to mostly to the new electronic logs and duty hours. Petroleum haulers are normally pretty local established companies with that would have a pretty stable workforce. I don't believe I have ever seen a tanker with a sleeper, nothing but day cabs. If you are operating a day cab, hours of service and e-logs are not as much as a proble "That" probably came from the same article I read. A lot of tanker drivers were laid or quit due to travel restrictions and much less driving during COVID. I know nothing about the business but article said that fuel tanker drivers need training, especially hazmat before being able to drive.

RE: First Post - 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie - What can I pull??

I have a 1999 Dakota with payload of 1275. Why does a 13 year newer 1/2 ton ram only have 1600?

RE: Trying to decide on whether or not to purchase-DECISION

Haven't found a cg yet that allows you to leave your dog at the site unattended, even if in the unit. I have never had that problem. They are always left in RV. If a campground restricts that, find a different campground.

RE: Operational problems with new diesel pickups

Also, has anyone experienced problems with the air bags in a 2009 Silverado? Just got a recall notice on ours. Replacement air bags are not available. 2008 airbag replaced under Takata recall.

RE: Cades Cove

And be aware that Cades Cove area, not the campground, has the worst traffic I have ever seen in a park. Iook over an hour yo advance half a mile on single lane roads. Depends on time of year.

RE: How to replace sofa in 5th wheel?

I got my old one out in one piece, would not come apart and wanted to keep it and got the new sleeper in(it was one piece only). Was heavy and not fun and only two of us. Writing the check for it was the worse part.

RE: Patching Coroplast

At Lowes you can find a spray adhesive,Loktite, that I have used on that black tarp on bottom of mobile homes. It stuck when black tape, grey tape, and even eterabond wouldn't. Clean good, follow instructions on can, and right after sticking, I used the handle of the sissors to press it. Has held real good.

RE: No brakes on trailer

I'm really thinking it's the camper as our previous one was fine (well, in a couple of instances it took the truck a few minutes to realize it was there so maybe the controller IS starting to act up). Argh. Not saying that your problem is the same but everything is fine until it isn't. Maybe I missed it but have you hooked up to another camper yet?

Beaker wrote: Factory integrated brake controller on my truck was causing same message on mine. rgh. RAM apparently has had some issues with this. I just tested the truck 7 pin and with brakes depressed or brake controller fully engaged, I'm only getting 1/2 V on the ground and brake pins. What was your solution? Replaced under factory warranty.

RE: Check Engine Light...Going on 5 years & 20,000 miles...

I thought the OP has a code tester , he has been erasing the codes, its a recurring problem with that 2195 code. Recent experience with Dodge dealer. 1999 dakota cel with code showing 02 sensor. Sensor replaced, code still showing. Dealer said pcm. Changed pcm, code still showing. Dealer said bad pcm. Was replaced. Code still showing, said bad pcm. Pcm(remanufactured) replaced. Code still showing. After spending $500 at dealer they would not pursue anymore. Indepedent shop at $50/hour. Gave them 2 hours at no risk. They found broken wire. I won't talk about the A/C the dealer couldn't fix for 2 years. Independent dealer fixed in 20 minutes for $20 dollars. Not saying this is your problem. Just saying that mechanics are trained to follow a,b,c and cannot find problems that do not follow the "rule". Forgot to say dodge dealer mechanic was "certified master mechanic"

RE: Skylight/roof repair

Climb up the ladder and fall thru the skylight? Seems odd. d3500ram: Looks terrific!!! Although I would have used eternabond.

RE: Carsick dog

My 14 year old plott still gets carsick. Motion sickness pills and no feeding before starting works great. He curls up behind the driver seat and stays there unless truck stops.

RE: Adding roof ladder to Palomino Canyon Cat

A more economical and useful alternative get a self stacking extendable ladder and store it in your truck. Collapsed, their only 2' by 4' and easily stored. Had 1 fifth wheel with no ladder, present one has ladder. I would rather carry an expandable ladder than have a built in one.

RE: Towing challenges with flagstaff 25FKS

I had a 2000 Silverado 1/2 5.3, pulling around 6500 lbs and got 10-11 mpg. 20 years later and you are getting 7mpg with about the same truck. Find out why your truck is getting such lousy mpg. And if you like your truck, keep it. You will lose a lot of money trading it in on something else. Wish I had my 2000 back.
