RE: Streaming versus Broadcast TV

To say streaming is "cutting the cord" to "save money" is pretty laughable at best. You must pay for premium current (and live) content and you must pay for your Internet service data on top of that. Quitting DTV and going to HULU I save $60 a month. I watch all the sports I want, record most shows that I watch and replay them later, skipping thru most of the commercials. Had the internet a long time before streaming, no increase there. I do have to sit thru commercials while watching live sports but usually have magazine I read while they are running. I must admit that I have never subscribed to Netflix and the others. I do not need the latest and greatest. What I watch and how may not suit others; that, they must decide and do. If you watch 3hrs of TV, how did you like watching that hour of commercials? Try timing commercials, it is close to 30% of the time watched. If I was on the road I probably would have DTV, record and watch later.

RE: Reese Sidewinder

I have a Sidewinder. Like it, easier to back up. Make sure that the "universal adapter" fits your hitch.

RE: Best exterior tape

Come to think of it, how about Eternabond tape? That is what I used. Used the handle of the sissors with good pressure to rub the tape. Pay close attention to the edge of the tape when rubbing.

RE: Fuel tank recommendation.

I have the Transfer Flow 40g/tool box. Stopping when I want and where I want makes the price soon forgotten.

RE: Home - Waste Dump

buy a macerator and just send it down the toilet. or a 2 inch line will work for the hose. I "sent it down the toilet" and smelled up the house. Never again.

RE: older a/c smelly issue

My truck does that sometimes. Condensation grows mold and such. Try leaving just fan on for a few minutes with A/C off. Cleaning coils will probably clear it for awhile but will come back.

RE: Does the Color of an HD Pickup Make a Difference?

Why not buy the color you like vs. the color the next guys likes. Are you buying for you or me. He is buying it for the next guy as he says. One year will pass quickly.

I got hit 2x with my old RV when I moved. I paid it in MD when I bought it and paid it again when I registered in NC. Not sure how that's legal but it happens. I bought a new FW in SC and registered in NC and paid the tax in my home state only. Same with my new truck, bought it in MD while in NC and paid the NC taxes. And I also have to pay the property tax every year. Some states have reciprical(sp) sales tax. When I bought mine in Indiana & NC did not but I took delivery in Illinois(yes, they actually drove it over the state line) because Illinois and NC do. When living in NY state sales tax was 6% and no property tax. NC is 3% sales tax and a property tax every year. Everything is paid one way or the other.

RE: giving it up

FYI Now is the time to sell. I put our's on the main highway with a sign, and it sold in less that 24 hours. At one time there was 3 people looking at it. I thought they were all together, but no. They just all showed up at the same time. Good to see it worked for someone. Selling my fifth wheel has been the hardest sell I've had. Mostly scammers and no shows, people offering me 50% less over the phone without looking. Maybe I need to price it higher!

RE: Battery Replacement?

That means the batteries are five years old. Should I replace them before they go bad? How long do they usually last? Mine lasted 12 years. As some on here say: they last until they don't. Maybe carry a set of good jumper cables. I could tell by the dash voltage gauge that it was taking longer for the needle to reach the point that it had for years.

RE: RV Hot Skin (Exterior electrification)

I was washing the trailer and when cleaning the bumper got a small tingle. Checked with meter and was about 2 volts. Replaced adapter between extension cord and camper. Solved the problem. Also, on a different trailer, thought I smelled electrical fire one night but neighbor was burning trash. A week later found that extension cord to trailer cord adapter was burned.

RE: Dogs grazing

And my dogs consider green beans a treat. Mine considers anything but dog food a treat. He also eats tall grass.

RE: Electrical Issue

. It looks like the ground wire is scorched. Are you talking about the adapter between house and trailer?

RE: Fresh water tank leak

Is it just me or does the second picture show that the coroplast is sagging pretty bad, maybe full of water? That was my thought. Mine looked like that from a roof leak, although this sounds like a plumbing issue.

RE: Loss of Power after New Fan Clutch

In 13 years I have heard that roar 2x, both times about 30 secs on my Duramax. Yea, I know, different truck, different etc, etc,. If it happened very often I would have junked the truck. That is a terrible noise!! Along with reduced power, you know something is wrong. Take it back to where it was repaired and don't take no for an answer. You know people would not be buying trucks if that is normal.

RE: Insurance!

If you had $5000 worth of expensive furniture in your truck and you were in a crash and rolled the truck and ruined the furniture, the auto policy would cover damage to the truck and homeowner's would cover the loss of the furniture. Same with the camper, it's personal property like furniture, not a vehicle. My understanding is you need separate collision for the camper, it is not "personal property". Tow vehicle protects for liability if camper causes damage while being towed, or comes loose. Homeowner policy used for loss of furniture and personal liability on camper. That's how it was explained to me by insurance agent.

RE: Towing Disaster-AAA

Got a CEL with downgraded power on Saluda grade. Told AAA I had a fifth wheel. They sent a tow truck. Called AAA back and said nothing they could do. Tow truck driver said he knew someone with a truck and fifth wheel hitch and he would come get it and things worked out. Drove truck home and found out CEL was because fuel filter "zeroed out". Don't know how that happened as I ususally keep a constant check on fuel and filter mileage. Watching my camper going down the road the other way was a strange feeling but guy taking my camper was luckily an honest guy.
