RE: Orangeburg,SC to Callahan,Fl via 301

301 is our route. Love back roads and it is great since much of it is lightly used 4 lane.

RE: For Standard Gear, What's your ladder of choice?

This one from Walmart. Light. Folds small. Is a extension or a step ladder! $110! https://www.walmart.com/ip/12-5ft-Aluminum-Telescopic-Extension-Ladder-Portable-Heavy-Duty-Multi-Purpose-Telescoping-Ladder-with-Hinges-330-Lb-Capacity/269665886

RE: OTA television while traveling?

We use satellite when we can but when we get a treed site we use OTA. The bad part is we've gotten used to watching everything on a DVR so much that we can't stand watching something live. Other than an expensive TiVO and an Amazon variant I'm not finding a DVR for OTA. There are some $40 devices at Walmart that some mention but mixed reviews. We do have a Roku so we can pick up some network shows...if we can get a wifi/cell signal. We are fulltimers so we watch more TV than weekend campers. Anyone have a solution for a DVR for OTA?

RE: Back East on US2

Thanks all. I have a plan that I like thanks to another poster. Will take 31 south to Indianapolis/Louisville then I64 east to Richmond. Simple but let's us see new country side.

RE: Back East on US2

Not sure I follow. Does using RT. 2 prevent you going to your daughter's wedding(that's big)? No doubt it wouldn't be most direct route. We like 2 a lot and have used it many times to Glacier NP. So head east in time to do both. Also, US 20 is a good way east and not as far north as 2. Was kidding about the wedding. Will be there. Want to use 2. Just doing a sanity check esp when we turn south through Michigan.

Back East on US2

Sadly its time to turn around and head back east. Seems daughter really wants me at her wedding in Richmond VA. We prefer back roads over Interstates when it makes sense. Thoroughly enjoyed our westward journey on US 36. Planning to do US 2 eastbound. I have reservations in Medora ND at the Roosevelt NP. Welcome advice from there. My thinking is: - from Medora go north to US2 somewhere and go east on it. - ? in Watersweet WI stay on 2 or go north to US41? - cross over Make Mich - ? US131 south or take I75 then US23 near Flint? - then I90/76 etc to Richmond, VA Critique? Thanks much in advance.

RE: Cell Booster Question

I saw a rig with the Weboost (trucker antenna) yesterday at a gas station and asked him about the inside range. He said you have to have the device right next to the inside antenna...there is almost no range inside. In fact he creates a hot spot inside in order to use his phones etc normally. That said, he loves the Weboost and thinks it worth the money.

RE: Hermosa, SD to Cody WY

Original Poster here - we drove over to Greybull, WY today from Hermosa, SD; going into Cody tomorrow. It wasn't a horrible drive but if we go that route again, I would disconnect the truck and drive separately from Buffalo to Tensleep. We are under our total weight but still with the Harley trike in the bed of the truck it was uncomfortable driving connected. Just missed you. We did Buffalo to Cody yesterday. What a beautiful drive on 16. Good roads too. Thanks for this thread.

RE: Mayan Temples Trip - Safe?

I'm not sure why, but when rvers have come to visit they are reluctant to ride in my car :h We resemble that remark:) (But we adjusted because you were able to show us so much in a short period of time)

RE: Itinerary for CO Springs, WY, MT, Dakotas, Richmond VA

Well Skipper, can't say that you don't think out of the box (smile). Appreciate the ideas. Gotta think on this. Weren't going to include Yellowstone this time because we were there in 2016...BUT...I know we only scratched the surface there. We haven't done Wyoming, Montana and the Dakotas so wanted to hit those. I found the itinerary that one of the caravans use so might play with that and tailor it to our likes. I'll post back here once we get to AFA and have some thinking time. Wish we didn't have a hard return date to Richmond.

RE: Elkhart to Out West AFTER ACTION REPORT

Because nice folks went out of their way to suggest the route vs the Interstate and I thought it proper to report back to them and future travelers how it went. Is there a problem doing that?

RE: Elkhart to Out West AFTER ACTION REPORT

Thanks for the feedback and campground suggestions along the route. I looked them up and bookmarked for next year's trip. Did you run into any issues with the flooding when crossing the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers? It really was a nice trip. Ran 65 most of the way. We'd go a long long time and not have anyone behind us. Roads were good and seeing the little towns fun. Even saw where sliced bread started! No flooding issues on 36 or the roads getting there. The tributaries were full of water but not threatening the roads (this was the week before 22 June). Lots of corn fields were not planted because of the flooding.

Itinerary for CO Springs, WY, MT, Dakotas, Richmond VA

Lots of folks provided some fantastic ideas for our thread here on a trip to Colorado Springs from Elkhart. It was so good and helpful that this one seeks ideas on how to get back east in August. We'll leave CO Springs around the 4 July. We'll wander WY, MT, and the Dakotas before heading to Richmond VA. I know Sturgis starts 2 Aug and won't be anywhere near it. We need to be in Richmond around 9 August. About us: 40'MH towing; don't like Interstates if reasonable secondary road avail; travel about 4 hours a day; not picky about CGs; usually only reserve a stop ahead. Can use military campgrounds. Thanks much in advance.

RE: Elkhart to Out West AFTER ACTION REPORT

Thanks all. Thought I'd report back for future travelers. You folks were right about US-36! What a great route. Relaxed yet very efficient. We travel about 4 hours a day. So happy to go this far without using a busy Interstate. Our first stop was the State Fairgrounds in Springfield, IL. Loved touring the city and the park was a great bargain. Next was Pershing State Park in Laclede, MO. Again a great, quiet park and a bargain. Next was the Washington KS City Park. 50 amp in a nice setting for $15! Now we are at Prairie Dog like you suggested. Love it! We're in the new "CR" section with FULL hookups and amazing separation between sites. We're going to stay here for a few days and then do a non-stop to Colorado Springs. Again, thanks to all. Given how valuable this info was to us will start another one on suggestions for the return via Wyoming, Montana, Dakotas, and back to Richmond VA. THANKS!

RE: Brown County Indiana State Park is closed temporarily

We barely got off our site at Bean Blossom Sunday because of the wet grounds. Loved our stay in Brown County.

RE: Elkhart to Out West AFTER ACTION REPORT

Why yes we have chatted in the past. Appreciated your help back then and now. We sold the water property a few years ago and are full timers with a base camp in Hickory, NC. This trip is 2 weeks inCO Springs to see son and then around 1 July mosey around Wyoming, Montana, Dakotas, etc etc. Nothing detailed planned, just notions. We change our minds at the last minute so schedules don't work for us. We do have to be back in VA in mid August so that is only data point. Thanks for the shout out! Steve

RE: Elkhart to Out West AFTER ACTION REPORT

Thanks all! Great help and advice. 36 it is and looking forward to it and no interstates. Suggestions on stops to make along 36? It seems Springfield and Lincoln stuff is worth a few days. Others? I have Prairie Dog SP in the plan.

RE: Elkhart to Out West AFTER ACTION REPORT

Fantastic ideas folks. Just what looking for. From RV Trip Wizard it would appear that there campgrounds along 36 or at least close. Thanks!
