RE: Tent Trailer Set Up Question

‘Approaching 80’, I’m 73 and I really appreciate that Thetford Aqua Magic, especially at 3am. Just my thoughts. Ken

RE: Fridge lock

An easy solution would be from Walmart or others stores that sell baby and kids things. Child proof locks. Or even Velcro on the side of the fridge and doors. Ken

RE: Installing new rear window!

It would also make a difference depending on wall construction, laminated like the side walls or a fibreglass cap that may have a few inches of space between the inside finish and the outside finished surfaces. Picture or make and model or your RV would help. Ken

RE: 2021 Coleman lantern edition 285BH

I looked through the Coleman (Dutchman) website and came away with more questions than answers. The lantern package does mention a residential fridge which runs off 120v. It will run off the battery (ies) but only through an inverter (12v to 120v). Is the inverter included? Batteries? Solar charging salesman mentioned it. I couldn’t find any info on these in the website. How are you going to be using the unit, always hookups with electrical, only need batteries between home and campsites or a lot of boondocking? Ken

RE: 1984 Ford Honey

First of all, it’s 37 years old. It sounds like they have done a lot of work and correctly, But you would want to have that verified and that work is not hiding anything more serious, ie water damage in lower parts of the walls and floor. You say that you are not familiar with the units, so I would recommend a GOOD RV inspector to completely go over the vehicle. They could possibly advise on the value $$. There still could be more and costly repairs possible in the near future. Ken

RE: Breaks and 12V system

Per opnspaces “ I have no idea if it would work. But if the engine quits you might try shifting the automatic transmission down to a lower gear. Worst case nothing happens as the transmission is freewheeling. Best case is you get some engine compression braking to help with keeping everything under control. ” A very interesting question, hopefully someone with real experience will chime in With all the electronic systems in our vehicles, engine control modules, transmission modules , how much will actually work without and 12v power. Hopefully there is enough manual connection between the gear shift lever, the transmission and the rear wheels to assist in slowing down. Ken

RE: Bathroom dispensers

Our shower has built in corner shelves (2) and they put straps across about 5" up. Each one will hold the equivalent of 2 medium sized shampoo bottles. For bar soap, one of the double sided suction soap pads. Ken

RE: TransCanada Hwy, West to East

iming for fall colour viewing can vary by a couple of weeks each year for each region. Also varies by altitude and latitude. Google various parks and search for fall folliage and it will give a general time range. Glacier Park to Algonquin Provincial Park (very beautiful and popular in fall), in Ontario is about a 4 day drive. Also the drive across the north shore of Lake Superior is a very beautiful drive. Campgrounds are not that numerous and after Labor Day a lot of them close up for the season. I know that Algonquin campgrounds are open later because of the fall colours. Also be prepared for much cooler or colder weather, nightime temps could be in the high 20s F. Links Glacier Algonquin I'm sure that others will chime in with more areas. Ken

RE: Tire Cover to snug?

What type of wheels are on your B+. If single rear wheels and basically a flat wheel cover, the 29” would fit. If it has duals on the rear axle, concave, and convex mounted on the front. If so, go with the 29-32” size. The instructions I was give when shopping was to measure from edge of tread to edge of tread over top of the wheel (covers) and studs. Mine with the same size tires, measure 29” on the rear and 31” on the front. Ken

RE: Towing Honda CR-V with Pride scooter on the back

I don’t think That you will find any suspension upgrades for the rear CRV suspension is a coil overs strut sold as a single unit. What I did was to use a set of Harbor Freight ratchet straps, in addition to the regular tie downs. One end was anchored to the outside ends of the hitch receiver and crossed over to the opposite end of the bike, handle bar or seat area. When they were snugged down, it reduced the bouncing considerably. Basically a 3 point connection to the car (or MH) receiver frame (edit add), instead of the one point receiver draw bar which tends to be a sloppy bouncy connection anyway. Ken

RE: Armoured extension cord

Remove one end (plug) from cord and put cord inside a 3/4 inch PVC pipe, then reinstall a new plug. Do this and then take a pick axe and trench down a couple of inches, recover with the gravel. Will give more protection from tires and easily removed. May not be legal, but if just a temporary plug in, gray area. Ken

RE: Unusual Class C

I agree with 'BurbMan'. With the different layers of insulation, vapour barriers will lead to trapped condensation and then moisture, temperature changes perfect for growing mold. I'm not really a member of the weight police, but all of the added things, walls insulation and finishings, wood trim, solar, lithium battery etc. all on an E350 chassis, the original RV was probably close to it's GVWR. I read the Craigslist on it 1994 model asking $25000, Interesting, some nice finishings, but not for me. Ken

RE: Towing Honda CR-V with Pride scooter on the back

200 pounds should be OK providing that you do not have the cargo area filled with another few hundred pounds. I think that the the carrying capacity for the CVR (2012) is about 850 lbs, which includes driver and passengers (but there won't be any). My concern would be the flexing or bounce on the hitch. Have someone follow you for a few miles and see how much flexing there is. (think a bicycle carrier on the back of a trailer). Our class 3/2" receiver hitch is bolted to the CRV "frame!? which is heavy guage sheet metal. Ken

RE: Armoured extension cord

What material is your driveway made from, hard surface, asphalt (blacktop) concrete , the above suggestions are great, gravel stone etc, uneven, then questionable especially if there are tire depressions. Ken

RE: Traveling to the United States can be an amazing experience

Big scam. I went on their website and it shows how to buy a real or FAKE driver’s license or passport from various countries (obviously All Fake). First clue , you don’t buy a passport, they are from any country. Big Scam imho Ken Will notify (try) moderator

RE: Class C Detailing in Ontario, Canada

What part of Ontario, the RV dealer we purchased from has a large RV detailing building that will do it, but probably big dollars. We spilled something on the carpet in our 29B Outlook and was quoted $400 for cleaning, not sure what there prices are like now. There located in the Niagara peninsula. I don’t know of any mobile RV retailers, definitely not as common here as they are in FL. Maybe check with your local RV dealers or campgrounds, they maybe aware of some. Ken

RE: If you have proof...

Actually the travel restriction lifting is not in effect until July 5, for fully vaccinated Canadians. From the government of Canada website. Near the beginning of this pandemic, our Prime Minister said that if you the real facts, use the official government website, not 3rd party news which could be highly editorialized or missing pertinent facts (personal experience). RE: New phone recommendations for cross border

The newer Apple phones have dual sim card capabilities. When we travelled south, we went to Walmart and got an inexpensive phone on a pay as you go. It served our purposes. Ken

RE: Front stabilizers on Class C Jamboree

If you have them on the rear, they were probably installed by the previous owner. Our 06 does not have them nor were they even a factory option. The suspension is stiff enough, there in no rocking around when people, including teenage boys, are walking around. Before investing in front, try using the MH with and without using the rear ones. See how comfortable you feel. Ken

RE: Turning a FW around in a Culdesac

It’s not tail swing, it’s the front bumper of your truck over the curb, mailboxes. The cul-d-sac has diameter of 52’ or radius of 26’. Your trucks turning diameter of 28’ (usually measured at the outside tire) is already more than the available space. Try driving your truck, without the trailer, in a circle around cul-d-sac. If you can do it without backing up, you should be able to do it with the 5th in tow. If you have to back up and maneuver just to get the truck around, think of doing that with the 5th or just backing down the street. Ken
