RE: Check you cooling stack!

I have the same LBZ and have overheating problems too. I suspected a plugged rad, so I had it removed and at that time had the crud blown / hosed out of the rest of the stuff in front of the rad. A multitude of bugs and other debris came out. I didn't have the bucks for a new rad, so I put in a known good used one for now. Everything is clean in there but my LBZ still gets dangerously hot hauling my TT up a long grade. My next fix is a brand new rad to see if that helps. Can't believe the money they charge for stuff like this. Just a thought, have you replaced the thermostats? One or both may be failing.

RE: love the truck hate the ride

IDK, can't say that about my GMC 3500HD.

RE: oh joy...........

That's unfortunate with only 100K. I've owned 350's in the past and all were bulletproof....but in our youth we did indeed " throw some rods " while drag racing and wore the lobes on the cam You'll likely be looking at replacing rods and bearings, crank and even pistons are rings. You don't seem like your stressing over, would be my approach as well. Where did you see it only had 100k miles? I don’t think he has posted the mileage at the time of death.

RE: Anderson 3220 setup

I am sure the bed mat helps. Where are your safety chains? LOL, do you use chains with your fifth wheel hitch?

RE: Anderson 3220 setup

Well, lots of replies from the Ram guy's I have the same truck and hitch as you. Triple E Topaz 27' fifth wheel with a 18' Lund fisherman 1800 in tow. I have my Andersen hitch connected to the factory prep and a GM bed mat. The ball is set to the middle hole and I have the receiver set fwd. 81/2" bed rail clearance and tons of room between the tail gate and box sides. Zero issues with cab clearance as well. I haven't had any issues with bed deflection or the hitch moving in the truck, hitch torqued to 60ft/lbs. Perhaps the bed mat helps or that is just a Ram thing?? Had a Pullrite superglide in my last truck which work flawlessly, hated how heavy it was though. I really love the Andersen!
