RE: wet bolt on suspension been able to get the grease flowing, by applying heat to the old caked grease inside the bolt. It doesn't take much heat but it has always worked for me. I typically remove the zerk and use a properly sized drill bit to remove the old grease. I realize this doesn't remove the grease in the "cross" hole but I have never had one to not take grease after the drill bit trick.

RE: Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

We use $100,000+ RVs weighing many thousands of pounds and we worry about fuel mileage? My guess is that most RVers don't drive over 10 to 20K miles per year. In the overall scheme of things 1 or 2 MPG isn't that big of a deal.

RE: Revenge is mine, says the buffalo herd...

DW and I were in Yellowstone 2 years ago on our Goldwing motorcycle. Some dumba$$ in a rental RV stopped in the road, right in the middle of a rutting herd of bison, to get the family out to take a "memorable photo" from their trip. We got stopped in the traffic jam and the herd started to get agitated all around us and the others. We looked for any way out but the cars and RV's had us blocked. Luckily a Ranger got through with their noise maker to disperse the herd and get the traffic moving. When we passed the RV the Ranger was giving them some sort of "award" for stupidity. Hope it cost them a bundle of money. It is hard to appreciate how exposed you feel in that situation. PLEASE DO NOT STOP TO DO STUPID THINGS.

RE: Rough Ride

BALANCE YOUR TIRES! Tire shops do not usually balance trailer tires BUT if you don't it can shake the camper to bits. Running G rated tires at less than maximum pressure will not likely cause shaking as long as the pressure used is adequate for the trailer weight. Goodyear publishes an inflation chart for their G614's for that very purpose. On mine I run 90 psi.

RE: Level on sloped campsites. How? Unique to 5er's

Are you starting with the jacks fully retracted and drop the inner legs to the ground? If you do that you should be able to raise the front of the camper at least 2 feet. If you don't drop the inner legs you will never have enough stroke.

RE: Carrying a scooter (motorbike, not mobility scooter) ?

I haul a Yamaha WR250R on an aluminum rack in a FRONT receiver hitch on my Silverado. I wanted it where I could keep an eye on it and it won't fit in the bed with my 5th wheel.

RE: Cricket golf carts

My Brother is a full timer that also works for a church group doing metal work such as handicap rails, etc. He has used a Cricket for 3 or 4 years now to haul tools etc. to the work site. No issues and his is equipt to haul 4 people. He bought it for the power and so he can load it through the side door of his enclosed work trailer.

RE: Tire and load/level question.

McGauhys makes a 2" lowering shackle for the back of your truck. Less than $100 do at home fix. I've done this to my last 2 Chevys. Sits nearly level empty after this change. Best part is this doesn't raise the center of gravity of your trailer and doesn't increase strain on the trailer suspension. McGauhys Shackles

RE: Slide-out Maintenance

Do not use any lube that remains wet or damp or will hold dirt and grit. Sand and grit will wear the steel or cast gears out quickly.
