RE: Do you think a front cargo rack is too dangerous?

I've had a basket type one on my van for a while, but it has seen very, very little freeway speed driving. Mostly slow roads. An engineer friend saw it yesterday and said he thought it was extremely dangerous, because at freeway speed it could potentially set up a wobble, twist itself off, and end up underneath the front of the van. And, as he pointed out, that would be much worse than a rear rack coming off and dragging. Well, I found this image terrifying. But then I thought I should consult you all :-). (My rack plus contents ways maybe a hundred pounds, but one of the problems he pointed out is that the weight is necessarily evenly distributed. It's not possible to consolidate it in the center. This was why he was concerned about wobble at speed.)Just an engineer overthinking things and being overly cautious. My buddy has one on his class C to transport his firewood, another guy I know has one with his dirt bike on it. 250+ lbs

RE: Ford V10 Catalytic Converter

This place claims to have them. I also see them on ebay, don't know how good hey are. * This post was edited 11/03/19 09:23pm by T18skyguy * Thanks. These are universal fit ones that require welding. Have found a few of those. Looking to bolt on the existing piping. Why, so they can easily steal it again. Get one welded on. Installation doesn't matter. Either way it's only few seconds with a sawzall. Nobody is breaking bolts loose to steel a cat. I get that, they did steal mine by taking the bolts off though, had a new one welded on and been fine since...sawzall will need a lot of batteries to get them through the nights work and they are also a lot noisier and create a lot of sparks that are easy to see by LEO at night....just saying.

RE: Orange County Calif., Loses Another Large Storage Lot

I live about 2 miles from that lot, always wanted to store there but it was full and waiting list was long. I already pay $445/mo for a 65' pull through about 45 mins from my house, I am sure that will go up now as people scramble to find spots.

RE: Where to jack

Drag the trailer to the tire shop and let them deal with it.

RE: About to GO Full Time

We almost bought a Grand Design 3 years ago and while we were looking I joined their owners forum and I'm still a member and frequent that forum occasionally. Owners were once in heaven there but it seems that now the honeymoon may be over with people complaining like all the other brands. If I was looking right now I would take a good look at KZ. They've been around long enough to be past the honeymoon stage. JK If Winnebago did buy GD then the QC will be in the toilet as FR or THOR bought Winnebago I believe. Regardless we when we were shopping for our current 5er we looked at Winnebago and the quality was worse than most.Winnie is still a stand alone, though publicly traded company and i would put them way above Thor or FR. They just bought Newmar.

RE: Recommendations for Dealers in So Cal

Don't go to Traveland USA in Irvine.Be hard to do, it doesn't exits anymore. Giant RV used to be in there as well as McMahons and a few others, it was basically a automall for RVs. Irvine company did not renew the lease about 5-6 years ago and they bulldozed it, now just an empty lot.

RE: Brake controller for my diesel pusher

I know nothing about the wireless Prodigy, didn't even know they made one but I had a DP/Freightliner and wired up a Prodigy for a 20' enclosed trailer, was easy once I found the wiring harness under the dash.

RE: Fleetwood ratings

Had an 07 discovery, 1 slide motor went out during the 6 years I owned it and in areas some of the clear coat was flaking. Currently an 03 Southwind, no issues, TPO roof is still going strong.

RE: Storing in shop/garage - config, utils, connections, etc.?

You are on the right track. I would want water in the shop RV or not, just for cleaning and ease of use. Go to Garage Journal forums and ask your questions there are more experts there.

RE: Toy hauler fails

Used to haul 5 bikes and a quad, now 3 bikes and a rhino.....never had any of them fall in the last 15 years,,,never used a chock. Have loaded the bikes sideways with just 2 strap on the front just like in my truck or front to back with a 3rd tie down to the foot peg pulling the bike back, giving the front ones tension.

RE: Oreion Reeper

You can get a good used RZR for that, why take a chance on an unknown that is hard to get parts for.

RE: Trailers, Trucks and Toy's Oh My...

WOW, all brand new and loans for everything. Save yourself $50K and buy used, lots of stuff out there with little use to be had at a decent price, especially on the TH, let someone else take the hit and work through the issues of a new trailer and getting it dialed in. Pay cash if you can, these are toys that depreciate quickly.

RE: Toy Hauler Screens

The word Screen might be messing you up, they allow air to pass through, you want a door, or flexible door/barrier.

RE: 34/35' diesel pusher question. Newbie

You can get a 5500 diesel Cummins Generator in a 36' Class A. I have a 36PBD Monaco Neptune and it has a 5500 diesel generator. Don't know what year they stopped putting it in but that is what we have.Sorry for my bad info, when I had DP is had a 7500 and I thought based on the manual 6500 was the smallest. W

RE: 34/35' diesel pusher question. Newbie

Thank you very much for the input. Looks like 36 is going to be the length. Is there a differnce with a freightliner chassis vs something else? Is there that big of a differnce between 5500 and a 7500 genny?or does that only matter if there are two roof top ac's. Lastly. Is a LP genny something to stay away from? Sorry for all the questions I just dont know. lookYou will not get a 5500 gen in a diesel and you want to stay away (would be hard to find in a diesel anyway) from a propane gen just because they burn through the propane pretty quick. Based on what you are using it for (looks like same as me) you will be dry camping and need your propane for the fridge and heat. Freightliner is what most companies use, esp in the size range you are looking. Spartan is good but harder to find and them some companies have their own proprietary chassis.
