RE: got a new camper

I took the opportunity of getting the new Lance to upgrade my rearview camera system from analog to digital and from 2 cameras to 3, both systems are wireless. the first 2 cameras stay the same one above the back door of the camper, the second inside the horse trailer to watch the horses as we travel. The new 3rd camera will be on the back of the horse trailer so no blind spots for lane changes and great for backing into tight spots. All cameras have milspec night vision. RE: got a new camper

my understanding is that this camper had been sitting unused in storage since early 2000 and who knows when and where the last water fill came from.

RE: got a new camper

the fridge issue was a bad thermister. Holding at 35 with the new one in place. Lost water pressure. Another easy fix. Camper had been sitting for a while and they did not drain the fresh tank, Algae totally pugged the pre water pump strainer. cleaned that out Clorox bombed the water system, multiple times with a bunch of fill, add clorox, drive to shake the water everywhere let sit for a day drain, repeat, then do multiple fills and drain plus flush the hose lines to clear the clorox and gunk out of the system. https://tinyurl.com/2s43wc6p width=600 https://tinyurl.com/4944pe37 width=600

RE: Towing truck camper (expecting first experience today)

the only way your camper batteries can run your truck is if you pull them from the camper and put them in the engine compartment in place of your dead batteries.

medium duty wrecker , rear drive shaft removed, front wheels lifted. That's how BKA got towed. with his F550 and his TC in the bed

RE: Host Everest Deadbolt Issue

easy solution take off the striker plate and file or dremel grind the hole in the plate larger on the edge that's catching and reinstall. I thought about that. And might do it. I’m just curious if this is unique to my camper, Host campers with the door on the side, or to campers in general. sloppy workmanship is endemic in the industry

RE: got a new camper

only frustrating thing so far is the fridge. Of course I have nothing in it. The ambient daytime temps are going up to 115 so the Norcold N7LX.3 goes up to 60 in the day ( camper windows are open and the AC is off}. The fridge returns to 34F in the morning. I probably can't expect much better from a gas absorption fridge though. I will have it out this weekend and the temps with only be in the mid 80s so I will see haw it does then. The Thermister wires were seriously kinked so it could be an issue. I have a replacement coming. Other than that everything works really well. First project besides loading gear is to fix the known wire issue in the kitchen slide. Unprotected wires running over 2 90 degree wooden edges which can bare the wiring and cause a short. Easy fix.

RE: got a new camper

Nice upgrade. Can you hear an echo in there with all that space? Any suspension adjustments anticipated? nope it weighs the same as my 1055. On the way home we took the Rogue river from near Crater Lake NP to Medford which was the same way we went coming up. I noticed no difference in handling between carrying both campers

Wow! Nice! When are coming to visit me in the park? Probably next season. We are planning winter trip to great basin np. We could hook up if you are doing a winter desert trip.

RE: got a new camper

Wow, nice rig!! Maybe I'll get to check it out at Hope Valley sometime. :) Enjoy it! that would be fun. They started the river erosion control project at the second gate so currently all those campsites are closed and the area filled with heavy construction equipment

Nice upgrade! Now to find new homes for all the "stuff" so you can find it again. What will you miss most from your previous camper? the over the dinette bunk/storage cabinet that we used for all the dry goods.

RE: Norcold 510.3 - kit 633291

Call this guy. He got my fridge up and running in a half hour, He had to reprogram the optical board ( If you get the NO CO error twice it has to be reprogramme). He is up on 88 in Pioneer but it would be worth it to talk to him Kris Knapp of Knapptech 9165830618

RE: Norcold 510.3 - kit 633291

Recently my optical display board stopped working on my Norcold 510.3 refrigerator. I understand there is a replacement kit (Norcold #633291) is available as the original optical board is no longer available. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with replacing the optical board with this new kit? Does the refrigerator need to be removed from it's location in the camper to install this kit? Any insight would be much appreciated. TIA The optical board swap is fairly straight forward. its only involves taking off the faceplate (4 phillips screws) on the front of the fridge. I did it on my 641.3 a few weeks ago. The only issue is that the new pigtail that mates up to the fridge is different but the end on the curicut board is the same as the old one. You pop the board out of the new module unplug the new pig tail plug in the pigtail from the old board put the circut board back in place and plug that back into the fridge then remount the system. If you are going to do this get a new thermister while you are at it I'm in Livermore if you need help figuring it out. I replaced the cooling unit, power board, thermister, optical board and high temperature sensor of my fridge in the past year. Basically I have a brand new fridge at 1/3 the cost of a new unit.
