RE: Pullrite Superglide or Demco Hijacker?

Pullrite seems to have hitch/unhitching issues, needs separate plate on kingpin, can't tow other 5vr's without plate. What are your recommendations or thoughts? :h Been towing with Pullrite 16K Superglide for 16 years. I have not had a problem hooking up or unhooking. I modified my wedge plate so it is removable in minutes so any 5th wheel hitch can be used to tow my unit.. Two bolts in wedge plate holds plate on pin box. Pin holds plate in front. Pullrite now makes wedge plates that are easily removed. With these new plates it isn't even an issue anymore. As far as pulling someone else's unit without wedge plate on their pin box. I use this. Slides in between base rails. Tightened in and jam nutted to keep slid from moving. With slide disabled I can tow any 5th wheel. C.B.

RE: Generator Obsrevations.

As a contactractor, I can tell you that the inverter Hondas are not only quiet, but they burn about half the fuel of a normal non inverter generator. The price tag is high, but if you use them a lot, the fuel savings will add up quick. A normal generator for building uses five gallons a day. The same sized inverter generator will go two days on the same fuel. You may be right about the Honda but your spelling sucks big time...:D Nothing wrong with spelling. Contac-tractor He's the guy you contact to get a tractor. Generator is optional. Op is right Honda 6500 is one nice unit. C.B.

RE: storing power cord on new f'ver

My 50A cable is stored on a reel in the pass thru compartment. Dragging that thing out is a chore and is very seldom used. Unless the second AC is needed everything runs on a 50 to 30 amp dog bone with a 25' 30A cable. 30 amp cable is coiled up along with water hose and lay just inside pass thru door. Carry both 30 & 50 amp extension cables in "Little Creeker" trailer. C.B.

RE: Pullrite or Demco Superslide for a short bed.

The tow issue is easily resolved. The capture plate is easily removed. Having said that, if for whatever reason, you have to use your truck/hitch to tow someone else's 5er, that could be a problem for sure. Mike+ Here's how I resolved the issue using the my Superglide to tow someone else's 5th wheel Made a Slide Stop Adapter so I can tow other 5ers that don't have wedge plate. Front end is notched to fit against Turn table cam arm assembly. Adapter fits in between slide rails. then is tightened and jam nutted in position to stop slide from working. Now I can tow any fifth wheel. Someone else towing my 5th wheel. Modified wedge plate for quick install and removal. Drilled holes inside of the wedge of the wedge plate. drilled matching holes in pin box and welded nuts inside of pin box. Made a pin set up on front of pin box and wedge plate. If my 5er needs to be towed by someone else, pull pin, take out 2- bolts, good to go. C.B.

RE: Pullrite or Demco Superslide for a short bed.

Going into 16th year with 16K Pullrite Superglide. Great hitch, no regrets. I do have Demco's Glide Ride pin box. Very happy with it. C.B.

RE: residential refrigerator vs normal RV fridge/freezer

Residential fridge adds a lot of weight to an RV. I have to respectfully disagree with the above statement. Dometic RM1350S RV Refrig. 13.5 cu.ft. 231 lbs. Samsung RT21M6213SG/AA Res. Refrig 21 cu.ft. 198.4 lbs. There are alot of reasons to have one or the other but added weight of the residential is not one of them. I switched from the Dometic to the Samsung last year. No way would I go back to an gas absorption RV refrigerator. C.B.

RE: Portable flux wire welder recommendation

Decided on a DC inverter welder The Century FC90 has good reviews and priced right Half the size and weight that i currently have FC90 Tractor supply has something similar but 140amp Probably not worth the extra money for what I need 140 amp What utter garbage.. Do yourself a HUGE favor and buy a REAL welder up front the first time, then you will never have to revisit finding another one.. Something like a Millermatic autoset.. height=400 width=400 Millermatic 140A Autoset.. That pix is what I bought quite a few years ago after banging my head against the wall which inferior cheap garbage MIGs. Hands down the autoset feature WILL make your life easier. In auto set mode, you simply set the dial to the metal thickness and it will automatically set the current output AND the wire feed speed to the proper settings. No joke.. I have no issue welding SHEET METAL with the autoset, don't try that with those cheap welders. Do yourself another HUGE favor, do not bother with self shielding wire and get the shielding gas, your welds WILL vastly improve.. Not sure if that model is still available I believe they may have replaced my model with this one.. height=400 width=400 Millermatic 211 which may be an inverter version.. Expensive, yes, but well worth doing right the first time instead of beating your head against the wall.. Best advice I've seen yet! C.B.

RE: long bed vs short bed for towing 5th wheel RV

I pull a 40' Cedar Creek with a 1-ton crew cab short box single rear wheel with Pullrite 16K Superglide hitch. Short box reason. Daily driver. Fits in garage. Fits in parking stalls. I have no need for a 8' box. I have a custom built tool box 39"L X 22"W X 5"D that sit between the hitch and tailgate, then rolls out over tail gate when it's down. On each side of the tool box sit 2000 watt Honda's In front of the Pullrite is 6 gallons of gas. On each side of hitch is all the blocking I've ever needed. C.B.

RE: Concrete Site or Sand and Grass

Do not park on grass for long periods of time. Grass holds moisture which over time will cause rust to your undercarriage. C.B.
