RE: If you have a Diesel HD truck - Code reader

Curious as to what codes are specific? I have one of these and it {seems} to work? Or am I missing something?

RE: Travel restrictions

Two weeks without leaving the trailer definitely would not be fun!!!!! Thank you for your post! Self quarantine doesn't mean you can't leave the trailer. It's just a recommendation that you should avoid public interaction. I don't see how it's feasible, we have the same thing in Michigan. Folks from Detroit and Chicago coming up to their Lake Michigan cottages for the weekend are supposed to self qt for 14 days, well, they're here for three and the first thing they do is stop at the grocery store which is public interaction. Traveling in an RV, if it's a bigger one maybe you could stock up with food and supplies, so you don't have to re-provision right away? This limits your public interaction. Unfortunately not true. From a recent email I received from " Please be aware that out-of-state travelers are required to follow the governor’s 14-day quarantine directive before they recreate in Montana including camping in this campground, due to the risk of spreading COVID-19 and taxing local healthcare resources. The directive can be found at This directive includes the requirements that those in quarantine cannot leave for groceries, recreation, work or any other activity and restrictions on group size." Also received a similar email from a private campsite saying along the same lines in MT. They had previously said their general store was stocked for provisioning. But then sent out another email a week later saying if you come you stay in your rig bring your own supplies :( Local town also banned all short and long term lodging till June I believe.... Applies to CG's and Hotels ETC

RE: Keystone Slidewall Structual damage issue

What is the purpose of warranty forever? What kind of tree marks are on the roof? Is the roof damaged? What kind of reviews are there for this dealer? Are they capable of repairing it to a satisfactory condition? Sounds like they are passing the buck......If you claim on insurance that will go against you and at some point it may cause your rates to go up... I would call keystone personally and talk to someone....

RE: Are "all-bed" campers length safe? Most compatible all bed?

Thanks, everyone has opinions and experiences. I just choose to go on the side of caution as I get older. I live in the North West lots of two lane roads and big cliffs to go off of. My biggest fear (probably unfounded) was having a blow out and losing control and taking the family and myself off the side of a cliff.. LOL. But hey I had tork lift tiedowns so the camper would have probably stayed attached to the truck in any case. However I dont regret owning a truck camper IMO they are the greatest thing out there. I was able to get to many places I wont be able to get to with my new TT.. If I had to do it again, I would buy a one ton dually and a nice camper but not the biggest thing I could put in the bed. Check out host campers! Dang would love one of them. But Cripes the weight of them makes me wonder how those would handle in a 3500 dually

RE: Giant Recreation World in Florida

I agree, bought a new TT for 30K last year. While the sale went fine and I have had no real major problems. I would have thought maybe a follow up phone call or something would have been received...But nope..... Maybe just not realistic expectations.

RE: Are "all-bed" campers length safe? Most compatible all bed?

Most campers have a COG Center of Gravity Sticker on them. That COG should be on the axle or forward of it I believe. If the COG of the camper is behind the axle this will cause your front end to be lighter thus possibly losing effectiveness of the steering which would be a bad thing. Campers are designed for the bed they are going to fit in, I would think if you put a long bed camper in short be truck that is could cause structural issues eventually I am no engineer but did spend a lot of time in aircraft and there is a reason we calculate the COG..... Not judging but people who put campers in vehicles that are not sized correctly are asking for trouble. IE short bed camper in Long bed truck Long bed campers in Short Bed Trucks.. IMO Also, I think the weights are vastly understated. I had an AF 811 that was designed and supposed to work in a 3/4 Ton Truck.. Yeah, I never really felt comfortable driving it for the 10 years I had it. I upgraded tires and suspension which helped a bit but still was always concerned. Get more truck than you need would be my advice.

RE: Cold Weather & De-winterized RV

Run a small electric heater, probably dont even need that. Your Rig is insulated and wont get as cold as surrounding area.

RE: Amp hours

Nobody will be able to answer this for you. Way to many variables. Need a meter or something else.. Kind of like saying what is may cars MPG without telling anyone want type of car what size motor etc etc

If this trip is in the near future..... Sorry not to be a negative nelly but Do you plan on self quarantining for two weeks when you arrive here? Montana is under a stay at home order and all travelers are required to self quarantine....... Directive

RE: Arctic Fox 30U - looking for advice!

Nice, I would pay close attention to that front window. They tend to leak and god help you if you get rot up front in there.

RE: Arctic Fox 30U - looking for advice!

IMO AF Units are well made but like anything else there is maintenance required to keep it in peak condition. What year is it? I would check all the sealant and get on the roof to check up there as well. Make sure all systems are running and not leaking. Sanitize the fresh water tank as well, Check the tires and frame or any wear. All the issues you noted are easy fixes if you are handy

RE: Forest River Roof

The rubber can be cut and pulled back to inspect the roof, then reglued and sealed with Eternabond tape. What DRSteve said. I would be very wary though.... Plenty of places water can go that you will not be able to see till you tear it all apart.

RE: prowler water leak (roof)

do you have a slide topper? Check your seals, there should be a wiper seal along where it slides out.. Basically a piece of rubber... On the slide itself is the bulb seal which looks like a bulb. But that wont do anything with the slide out. Probably the wiper seal... Was the trailer level or maybe leaning the wrong way so water would drain into the slide instead of away?
