RE: Bypassing charger Magnatek 6332
Turn the circuit breaker off that powers the converter and attach a small battery charger at the battery terminals. I had to replace the converter about 5 yrs ago. My old one over charged and cracked the battery. The newer converters are multi stage and work well. Also added an inexpensive voltage digital monitor that stays on all the time in my 12 volt line. Keep the converter set on 13.2 and have 5 yrs with no problems. I have second battery installed also.
RE: Galveston - Bolivar Ferry
I have not been on the Boliver ferry lately but my experience with the Port Aransas ferries is they always place my rig to take up 2 lanes and no problems.
RE: tapping the top of awning to project it from the sun
Cody, My RV is parked full time under a shed and that might make a difference.
The zip tape sticks to the awning fabric. Also I used it on top and bottom of fabric. I had only a small area at the top of the awning to cover so used short pieces to do the job.
RE: tapping the top of awning to project it from the sun
I used ZIP system tape over 5 yrs ago and it still working great. Its a black rubber tape that once it is on it wont come off and is water proof. Contractors use it for sealing windows. I used it to repair the awning edges at the top. Sun had cracked the material. I use it on both sides of the material . Can be had from
Amazon for less that $30 for 20 ft roll 3 3/4 in wide.

RE: 100K miles - what maintenance?
To the OP, I have an 05 with 199700 on it. Most items listed have been checked or replaced including alternator that was still working. On a short weekend trip 5 months ago I had what I thought was smoke coming from under the hood. Turned out to be high pressure diesel spraying out from #4 injector fuel supply line. Drove it another 100 miles home. This seems to be a common problem on 05 common rail series. Most auto supplies stock that line . I now carry a spare. Check your injector line fittings with a wrench. They are easy to get to. Sorry for the long post.
