RE: Frieghtliner xc chassis Brake Light Problem

The Freightliner XC Chassis is subject of a recall of the Power Distribution Module. One of the indications is problems like you are talking about. Not sure if it covers your year model but work pursuing. I bought my rig used in October and it had three outstanding recalls. Good luck.

RE: Furnace flames cycles off before temp is reached

Got back from our maiden voyage and spent some time on the furnace. Check the intake and discharge ducts. Found lots of saw dust in the floor ducts and even the cutout piece of plywood they didn't bother to remove. Blew out the blower wheel and intake. We made sure nothing is in front of the intake in the bathroom. The air volume is good on each discharge and I even removed the dampers on the floor grates so they don't get accidentally closed. There are only 3- 4" discharges on the furnace, pls a 2" for the basement. I did not clean the control board terminals but I will need to because it still short cycles.

RE: Furnace flames cycles off before temp is reached

One thing I have been able check on the road is that when the flame short cycles the thermostat is still calling for heat. Thanks

The furnace is an Atwood 35,000 btu model AFMD35151.

RE: Furnace flames cycles off before temp is reached

Thanks all. The furnace is an Atwood. I’m touring bourbon distilleries in Kentucky today so I’ll have to get the model tonight. We should be out of the freezing overnight temperatures for the rest of the trip so hopefully we’ll get by with the heat pumps. I’ll pull things apart and check for obstructions when we get home. I always count on this forum for good advice and direction.

Furnace flames cycles off before temp is reached

I have a new to me 2018 Thor Aria 3401. On our first long trip and we needed the furnace. When it starts the flame starts as it should. The flame continues for around 10 minutes and then the flame cuts off as though it reached the thermostat temperature, but it hasn’t. The fan runs about 5 minutes and then the flame comes back on and the furnace continues heating. I would appreciate any suggestions on where to start looking. I know some safety is cutting off the gas because something is probably too hot. I just don’t know where to start. Thanks

RE: Moving over to the motorhome forum

Just a quick update from the road, day 2 of the inaugural 18 day trip. Everything is going great and I’m getting more comfortable driving this big box down the road. It’s smaller than my truck and fiver but sitting in my truck didn’t feel so big. I really like the maneuverability of the MH versus pulling the fiver behind me. I got through a parking lot and into a gas station I never would have tried with the trailer. Set up and break down are much faster and easier. I like driving the toad around stops rather than a long bed, crew cab, dually diesel. I miss all the storage the fiver had and the way that passing trucks (both ways) had minimal effect on the rig. Fuel mileage was a little better on the fiver. That’s it for now. I’ll add more as the adventure progresses. Be safe!

RE: Moving over to the motorhome forum

Thanks. I updated my signature for the 2018 Thor Aria 3401 I found with only 7,800 miles.

Moving over to the motorhome forum

After 45 years of RVing and 30+ years dragging a 5er around the country we made the switch to a motorhome. I appreciate everything the forum members did to help us with various fifth wheel issues and improvements and I look forward to getting comfortable with a motorhome and small toad. Safe travels top you all!
