RE: RV Vinyl Trim Insert Sizing

Make sure you don’t stretch it at all when you install, otherwise the first cold day it will shrink.

RE: Motorhome drinking oil

I’d be tempted to slap a pcv valve in it- cheap and cannot hurt.

RE: Need help, upgrading Dometic Analog Thermostat to Digital

I don’t think it will work, as I believe Coleman internally jumpers the +12 vac to what should be the RC and RW terminals, which need to be ground. Not 100% though- it might me able to be modified. You can get thermostats with 2 stage capability, though I’ve never hooked one up.

RE: Need help, upgrading Dometic Analog Thermostat to Digital

My current wiring setup on my analog is: 1. Red wire +7.5 volts ------NOT USED (Cap/tape off) 2. Yellow Wire to Cool -----to A/C ("Y") 3. White Wire to Furnace ---to Furnace ("W") 4. Blue Wire to Hi Fan ---High Fan ("G") 5. Orange Wire to Low Fan ---Low Fan (Cap/Tape off) 6. Black Wire to Ground ----TO 'RC/RH' jumpered terminal This, with the exception that you need to connect both high and low fan- the Dometic analog system switches grounds to energize the relays (not +12 vac), and the fan is two relays, low fan relay energizes the blower, hi fan relay switches between hi and low, so both must be grounded. Chris, just trying to get clarification on this since I have to purchase another digital thermostat to try now that I'm finally getting somewhere with using the ground instead of the +7.5 red wire. 1. So if I jumper both Low and High wires together, the fan will work in high mode? Yes 2. If I were just to connect to the High wire, the fan will not blow without also jumpering to the Low)? Correct 3. What if I were just to connect to the Low, the fan would work in Low? Yes- the low turns the fan on, the high just switches between high and low. They did this so there is no way both high and low can be energized at the same time 4. I wasn't planning too initially, but can I run a switch like others have done to still get Low and High speed fan control? Yes- it will be a simple spst switch just connecting the high and low together. Thanks for any clarification.... No problem :)

RE: LP Level Indicators not working

It’s just like a fuel,gauge- something like a 90 ohm variable resistor, so there is either a short in the wire, an open in the wire or the element is bad. You can test the wire by disconnecting at the tank gauge and shorting it to ground, something should change if the wire is good.

RE: Spam and reporting doesn’t work

I've never reported anyone or anything. If it don't fit my idea of a good comment, I ignore it and move on. I dislike 2 types of people, whiners and snitches. Well, bully for you then. I don't like spam, period. If you don't like my comments, feel free to block me. I notified moderator of that spam "Binance Exchange" post. Worked for me. For both the binance and the other one I got an error page.

RE: Electric Propulsion Reality Check

I am in the middle of nowhere too often to rely on electric vehicles at this point. Maybe when there are multiple charging stations in every town that can charge my batteries in 10 minutes I will be interested. I don't think I will live that long. The Nikola semi has a 1500 mile range, with fast refueling. While it is electric, it isn’t battery, rather it’s a hydrogen fuel cell.

Tesla with their new battery tech- https://insideevs.com/news/355152/tesla-maxwell-beyond-battery-tech/ Speculation the Tesla semi and pickup are waiting for these batteries. I also don’t do YouTube.

RE: Possible power or AC issues?

I’d start by giving it a good cleaning, particularly the outside, condenser coils. Also check the run capacitor.

RE: Long Term RV Repairs

The only legit long term repair I can imagine would be major accident repair- a lot of body/ structural work.

RE: Add second air conditioner to 30 amp RV

I would not use a 50-30/30 adapter, as that would be running that cord and air conditioner on a 50 amp breaker- not safe. If you like, you can build a breakout box with breakers like John said.

Suburban doesn’t sell a replacement tank, so you will have to buy all new, including door :(

RE: Troubleshooting Dometic RM 4223

I have seen elements trip a gfi when cold, then work fine after heated by the lp flame. Not sure if it was a bit of moisture inside the element leaking just enough current to trip a gfi.

One thing you can do is subscribe to the dvr option to record if you cannot get it live.

RE: 100 amp service

We had a site with two 50 amp hookups, Sarasota Lakes resort. Ours was a park model, one 50 amp for the house, one for the electric range.
