RE: Is there a brass replacement for the Camco drain valve?

I have seen them, though not lately. You can just spray paint the plastic one and it will last forever, same with most plastic items.

RE: Ditching Dometic Thermostat?

Yours cannot be replaced without replacing the control box.

RE: Norcold 811r fridge gas pressure

I would start by cleaning the burner (supposed to be an annual maintenance item). Any LP pressure problem would be due to the main regulator, and all LP appliances would be affected.

RE: removing silicone from Fiberglass

Carefully get as much off with a razor blade, then 3M adhesive remover and a roll of paper towels. Made for auto body work.

RE: tapping the top of awning to project it from the sun

Some use vinyl rain gutter, cut to length, slots in end caps.

RE: Shore Power Question -- (15A+30A=45A)

They are near worthless, as they will not work if the 15 amp outlet is GFI protected, which they all are required to be.

RE: Honda EU2200 recall

RE: Propane leaks during storage.

I’ll give yet another explanation. Electronic valves do not seal 100%, and they are all basically one way valves, offering no resistance backwards. LP gas is very temperature sensitive- the lp that remains in the lines at atmospheric pressure after they have leaked down will expand and contract with ambient temperature, it gets cold, and the pressure in the line is below atmospheric,,drawing in air to the system.

RE: Digital Thermostat Cuts on AC During Freezing Weather

If the fan is set to high or low, the air conditioner blower will come on with the furnace to circulate the air. Set the fan to auto to keep this from happening. The hard part about replacing with analog is running thermostat wires.

RE: SF 42 furnace madness

What he said- swap the wires at the furnace, as one of those supplies power to the thermostat. If you swapped them when you reconnected them, nothing will work.

RE: SF 42 furnace madness

Try swapping the blue thermostat wires- one supplies 12 volts to the thermostat.

RE: Welding outlet with 50 amp rv outlet

I think you could run a neutral and install a sub panel feeding the outlets.

RE: Another Oldie Not Mine. What can I pull with this?

If it’s appraised at $275k why is he selling for $89k? Beautiful though...

RE: Which is the best value - Airstream or Avion

Avion is much heavier, some ‘70’s Airstreams had frame issues- rear bath models after they added a gray water tank. Google airstream elephant ears to see what to look for in terms of factory repair. I like the Airstream suspension far more than the Avion, though they do wear out, the rubber just deteriorates. Replacement is not hard, but something to look out for. All of that said, as a useable RV, the Avion is a better value. As an investment, the Airstream, though I think any RV investment is tricky, unless you do it as a business.

RE: Norcold 1200 operates without ground connected

Those fuses failing is fairly common, the holder gets loose and/or corroded, and the ~300-450 watts continuos heats them up. Checking fit and a bit of dielectric grease eliminates the problem. The real tricky problem with the glass fuses is if they heat up the element can come unsoldered from the end cap- fuse looks good visually but doesn’t conduct.

RE: RV easy start A/C

Looks like a valid approach, I believe a member here has done the same mod. I don’t think it is as effective as the Micro-air, but it is cheaper and simpler.

RE: Norcold 1200 operates without ground connected

Do you have copper propane piping? One of my refrigerators ran on the hot & the propane copper pipe until the broken ground was discovered. ^^^^^^^ This ^^^^^^^

RE: Question about PC's..

Check out the Microsoft Surface Pro- personally, I hate Ms and Windows but my sister swears by it. In case anybody cares, I hate Apple and iOS. So do I, that’s why all my computers run Ubuntu, but for my use the only thing I have used the dvd drive for is ripping an audio cd- I see no use for an optical drive.
