RE: Brands That Can Be Used Off The Truck

I use my Palomino Maverick off the truck in the hangar but I support it with a dolly composed of 2x6's on casters. The dolly supports the metal frame around the perimeter of the camper but not the entire floor. Anyone think I should add another 2x6 to support the floor under the 30 gal FW tank?

Dolly for Truck Camper

I bought this wooden dolly to support my 1800-lb Palomino truck camper inside a hangar with a concrete floor. The dolly supports the weight of the camper nicely, which I think relieves stress on the jacks. But because the four wheels have a tendency to caster independently, it's difficult to maneuver around, especially for one person. Any ideas on the best way to get the loaded dolly to move in the direction I want?

RE: New Member with Used Camper

Actually, all that fixed was to enable the blower; the furnace wasn't putting out any heat, which probably explains why the previous owner disconnected the thermostat. But after doing some Internet searching, I discovered a fix for that; repositioning the igniter to make it a little closer to the gas inlets. Now it's working.

RE: Rear View Camera

My F250 came with a pair of connectors you're supposed to use when you disconnect the tailgate camera. Looks to me like those plugs will accommodate wires from a third-party camera. So rather than try to fish the original camera out of the tailgate, my inclination is to keep the camera in the tailgate but disconnect the connectors under the truck, taking note of which wires are used. Then buy a license-plate camera and run the wires to the blank connectors supplied by Ford. Will make the tailgate removal/reattachment processes much easier and in theory, make use of the existing display in the cab.

RE: Rear View Camera

Which system can I use to replace the tailgate camera on my 2019 F250? I have to take the tailgate off for my TC so I want to plug the replacement camera into the existing wire harness on the truck.
Why would you want to replace camera?
Use it on camper. Here is how I did it
Interesting idea Kayteg1. Wasn't aware I can take the camera out of the tailgate. My preference would be to mount it on my license plate since it's visible with or without the Palomino on it and I wouldn't need any extra cable length. Will investigate.

Got the furnace working. Turns out one of the wires to the thermostat was disconnected.

Yes, I have shore power. I'll try to diagnose the electrical circuits if I can.
Thanks for the responses.

Electric switch not heating the water. May have killed the heating element. How hard is that to replace?

RE: New Member with Used Camper

Okay, so the water heater was indeed bypassed. (Had to unscrew an access panel to see the other side of the unit.) Turned the gas heater on and water was getting warmer after a few minutes. Now trying the electric. Hope I didn't burn out the element previously. Just curious, what's the default mode if both switches are on?

New Member with Used Camper

Hi all
Just recently purchased my first camper, a 2013 Palomino 6601 from a private party. I have it on a 2019 F250 w/ 8 ft bed. Trouble is, the camper didn't come with any documentation and the previous owner isn't responding to my questions, which has me a little worried.
The camper is a nice size and seems to be in pretty good shape, but I can't get the Suburban furnace or the Atwood water heater to work. The previous owner had winterized the camper when I bought it, so not sure if there's something special I need to do, like fill the water heater (I put water in the fresh tank). The gas stove works so I know that propane is flowing. The water heater gets warm on the outside vent and I can hear the unit working and see a flame when I look from outside the camper, but it doesn't heat the water. The furnace doesn't do much of anything.
Appreciate any advice or suggestions.
