RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Burch, we are so sorry to hear about Murphy today. We know that you and Donna loved her very much.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

I have to get Murphy to the vet this morning. She was panting a lot yesterday and this morning she is really having trouble breathing and doesn't want to eat. She has that blank stare when I look at her. I am afraid I am going to lose her today. Hopefully the vet can get some fluid out of her lungs. I'm not going to have her suffer. Donna got me Murphy as a wedding present and she has been my girl for 16 years. I really hope this isn't our last trip to vet but I have a bad feeling. We will thinking of you and Murphy today.

RE: Animals in commercials

I must admit I was underwhelmed by the SB commercials this year, although I LOVED the game itself and the result. To me, the best commercial was the Bill Murray/Groundhog day reprise for Jeep.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Garland and I feel privileged to have been a part of the Old Fella group for all these many years. I can still remember the anticipation I felt for the first OFR, anxious to meet everybody and their dogs. I was so looking forward to bringing both Missy and Gretchen, but sadly Missy crossed over shortly before the rally. :( Gretchen, however, was still quite young, and was able to attend the first rally and many more afterwards. Of course, Gretchen is gone now and greatly missed. Over the years, this group has lost many FOOFs, be they people, canine or kitty. I think of them all, at one time or another. This is a great group, and we will be here as long as the lights stay on.:)

....Thinking about a short trip to Waynesboro next week to Magnolia Springs State park or either to Cherokee NC. Both are about the same distance so It would be an easy trip with the camper...... If you are feeling better, then I would certainly say to go for it!:)

Gulf State Park is booked for every date I put in for May. I guess I waited to long. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that you have to think a year in advance for Gulf State Park reservations.:p

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Sad decision Richard, but I think that's something we all will face sooner or later... So true. We all have to decide when to hang it up, and I hope I have the common sense to know when that time is. It will be sad, but having the memories of all the wonderful trips and times we have had is something precious.

I really don't like traveling by plane..... I hear ya on that! Haven't gotten on a plane for over 11 years. We only flew then because of necessity.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

... Walter you may be a ghost from my past as you remind me so much of him. Truly you can't look so much like a person and not be related in some way, it's mind boggling at times... After all these years, you never mentioned that to me. :) In the other post you asked if I had any German ancestry, and indeed I do on my mothers side, which is just full of Germans. Perhaps your old acquaintance was a dopperganger of mine! I know I saw one about thirty years ago at, of all places, a bowling alley that we were in a league at. We passed each other by in the lobby/concession area going in opposite directions, and I swear it was like looking in a mirror. :E Unfortunately, back then I was a lot shyer than now, and I did not stop him and ask who the heck he was. I sure wish I woulda though!

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

I've been kinda lax in posting here lately, but oh well . . . :R Our thanksgiving was very enjoyable and relaxing, much more so than when we used to host a rather large family gathering. A few years ago we "passed the torch" to our daughter and husband, who now get to experience just how much work it really is. :B I still get to carve the turkey, however, as my SIL still hasn't quite got the hang of it yet.:B Anyway, now its on to Christmas and then to warmer climes!
