RE: 100 watt Solar decision

...unless you can recharge the batteries to full charge state every day you'll probably notice less and less battery power after a few days...
So true

RE: 100 watt Solar decision

What kind of batteries do you have? That should be the next big question.

RE: UPDATED - Ran over Gator

In October of 2014, a truck dropped two 5 gallon buckets of a liquid off in front of us.
I am sorry that happened to you.
If you watch Youtube videos of events as you describe, they often seem to happen in just a few seconds with almost no time to react.

RE: UPDATED - Ran over Gator

Are they 'retreads' (existing tire regrooved) or 'recaps' (layer of rubber bonded onto old tire without remaining tread)?

RE: UPDATED - Ran over Gator

I remember as a young kid on a school bus going down the highway when the recap came off. It did not detach completely at first, so it was whipping around in the wheel well. It slapped repeatedly on the underside of the bus. It sound like kids in the back of the bus were shooting a gun or lighting firecrackers.

RE: Apple's cooperation with Chinese officials

I really don't know what it's about, but Chinese is misspelled.
So is "Appple" (sic)

Ran over Gator
I am sorry this happened to you and glad you are not injured. Is "running over a gator" slang for tire tread in the road? I've never heard that.

RE: Backing that trailer into a tight campsite..

Lower your expectations. By that I mean, do not expect to back in perfectly. Be patient. Yell at your wife, and apologize. Get one of those shirts that says, "I am sorry for the things I said while backing in the the trailer". When done, have a beer. After about 20 times you will start to get the hang of it.

RE: Just completed our first trip with our new travel trailer

We treat "rustic camping" (without hookups or dump station) like having a hard sided tent. Just limit the use of everything. Sounds like you basically did that.
My GF calls it "being in the RV and using less power than Apollo 13.

RE: Just completed our first trip with our new travel trailer

Sounds like you had a great trip. Before you know it the young-uns will be teens and you'll have dozens of memories.
By the way, where did you go?

RE: Teaching to tow?

Tell the kids to drive slower than they are used to, and then slow down even more.

RE: Power Cord/Surge Protector

I'm picking up a new AF 1150 in a couple of days. Do new campers come with a power cord and can you suggest a surge protector?
I doubt you'll get a free power cord. Now that you have the rig, you'll have the joy of buying accessories for it.

Both floorplans look nice - love the virtual tour / 360 degree views. I can't speak for the quality.

Hard to imagine you would have to remove the oven to get access. Maybe post a picture.
Here's a picture. Maybe you can see it lurking way back in there. (I hope my link works.)

RE: Cautionary tale

I never thought to check whether the jack worked or not because it looked like new. I feel like such a moron.
If you had needed it, you'd be writing now about the epic story of finding and buying one, and the nice person who helped you.

RE: I must have violated one of the rules

A few days ago I posted what I thought was informative information on the 1918 pandemic and referred the reader to an excellent book on the subject and listed the name of the book and the author.
It didn't make it to the Forum so listing the book must have been a no no.
I had a post removed once. I had to ask a Moderator why. I think it would be nice here is a post is removed that the Moderators tell us why privately.
