RE: Harbor Freight Predator 3500

Stay on top of the service intervals. We've rescued a couple poorly running gens with a good cleaning of the crankcase and carb. They're really good, never mind the price difference between them and the blue blood units.

RE: Soft-sided, collapsable totes?

Reusable shopping bags. Almost square, but flexible enough to pass through the door opening.

RE: How to find diesel prices?

Scroll further. Diesel is at the lower end of the list of choices.

RE: Trip Report: 9 weeks of aimless wandering

Nice long trip.
Serious question to everyone: I debate myself on the longer TR's. Prefer more detail broken into sections? less chat, or more stories?
Putting a few days or couple of weeks together is pretty straightforward, but wandering trips are a different breed for me. Curious, and thanks for reading.
Personally, we enjoy the longer trip reports. More pics, the better. The commentary is always welcome, as it helps tie a trip together. Almost gives us a connection to the trip.

RE: Road to Tuktoyaktuk, YT

It doesn't close, except short term, due to weather, so I'm not sure what you're asking.

RE: Comfort Ride Slipper Spring system w/shocks

Slipper spring setups used to be more common, especially on lighter trailers, but went away when the centre equalizer system came on the scene. There's no problem with unlevel, or stiffness, as suggested above. The main issue in their demise was wear in a non-replaceable area, mainly the pad welded to the frame. Shackles and bolts became wear points, but are easy to swap out.

RE: My TT ain't so great for winter camping....

Checked into the Westerner for an overnight. We often use their services on our biannual snowbird migration so we can visit the middle kid and his family. Weather is looking to cooperate for a few more nights. Soon we'll be looking for AC, not heat.
Agree with the Citation/Corsair recommendation. They're heavy, but worth it.

RE: Chains in BC

You only have to have chains available to you, not use them. Buy the cheapest, lightest set you can find, then pay attention to the forecast. AutoSocks are also acceptable, if you want to push your luck a bit.

RE: Can anyone in Alberta Help???

There's a few companies shuttling RVs, but the ones I've seen are operating out of larger population centres, like Vancouver or the GTA. Haven't seen any flying out of YYC. The price isn't cheap, either.
