RE: Firman generator on sale at Costco

I’m a fan of a Honda or Yamaha; dependable, repairable if they ever quit working, High resale value, not made in Communist China!
must be loving it in the dark. So where are some of the honda's and their parts made? :S

RE: Paperwork

I got stopped in Jan in MD and got a warning ticket for the following
Couldn't find registration (found it before we moved
Handicap permit hanging on rear view mirror
no front tag (not required in NC)
Speeding 45 in a 35
no proof of insurance
Now that is what I call a "shake down."

RE: removing shades & valance

Man it has been a long time.
As I recall mine are screwed right into the wall. Used a long screw bit. Finding those screw heads was a challenge.

RE: Buying RV from a far away dealer

I refuse to pay 7K in blood money just "thinking" that I them may get good service locally.
I bought mine three states away but only saved 5K. :R

RE: Using RV generator as backup for house?

I don't understand the "two" operations to prevent back feed. On the square D that I have the first step is to throw the main feed breaker to off.
Impossible to back feed with a properly set up lock out. :h

RE: Gas Credit Cards

If you are a vet (You may not need to be???) check out Pen Federal Credit Union.
5% back on gas purchases
This is the way we go. We have let the bonus to pile to a point that it will pay for the two rental cars in AK this year. :B

RE: How we camp in the winter

My wife got into puzzles while we are waiting on our second covid shot.
This is far out but that was the very first puzzle she put together this winter.
I am gonna show it to her later today.
BTW she just picked up a 3 for 20 buck deal on Amazon.
BTW, my John Deere would just love to come over and play in your drive way. :W Might take a while to get from central IL though.

RE: Genset carb upkeep: drain it and/or exercise it? Both?

I ran my champion open frame generator about 4 years ago during Hurricane Harvey. Once I no longer needed it I drained the carb and fuel tank, blew them dry and stored it. I pulled it out this weekend for this Texas freeze mess going on. I filled the tank and it fired right up. It ran 80 hours non-stop without a hiccup. Once I no longer need it, I'll blow it out and store it until who knows when. Hopefully forever.
If I know I'm going to run it in the next few months,I do nothing. Just put it in storage.
Dang, I can't we both do the same thing with the same success.:)

RE: Using RV generator as backup for house?

I have never had a motor home for back up.
That being said, for years i have had a portable genny out in the barn to drag over to the house for emergency power Never could run heat or air because I got a geothermal unit (240, huge power demand).
So in my neck of the woods with the REA power company, one of those "transfer switches" and additional panels is not required. A Lock Out switch/device on the main service panel makes it impossible to back feed into the grid if installed properly. Look it up and google will tell you all about it.
I used the regular service panel and just turned the 240 breakers off.
So I think with a little research, the motor home genny could be hooked to the house and into the regular service panel.
