RE: Tesla Cybertruck

Well, the Pontiac Aztec has company. This thing should be launched into space, oh wait!

Any reverse snowbirds out there?

I know that quite a few of you come down here to Arizona in the winter to escape the cold. I also know many of you congregate near Quartzsite. What I want to know is where do my fellow Arizonans go to escape the hot months. Is there a sort of Quartzsite of the North where you all go? Just curious.

RE: How to replace handrail cushion?

Based on the responses I've received on the Dutchmen forum I've elected to go with the kind of grip tape used on baseball bats and tennis rackets. Cheap and doesn't require any disassembly. Thanks for your responses.

Nifty shower shelf

We got tired of stuff always falling off the small ledges they put into the showers so I went to Wally World and found this nifty over the door metal shelf unit that holds everything nice and neat while on the road. Since the back of the unit is open I modified an old sheet of Lexan to keep stuff from falling out the back. Simple and it works great.

How to replace handrail cushion? Has anyone successfully replaced the rubber/foam handgrip on the entry door handrail on their rig. Mine is worn and splitting at the bottom and I'm not sure how to proceed with replacing it. If you've done this where did you purchase the replacement handgrip and how much work was it to remove the handrail in order to slip the handgrip on?

RE: TST 507 parts are expensive.

Now I know where I'm going tomorrow morning. Thanks for the tip.

RE: What are your yearly registration costs for your truck?

AZ 2013 F250: license tax (1 year) $402, registration $8, air quality fee $1.50. No emissions testing outside of Tucson and Phoenix.

RE: Tongue jack replacement

My tongue weight (empty) is also 950#. If I were to replace the jack I'd go with the 4500# jack also. I have to lift the back end of the truck pretty high to ease the tension on the spring bars.

RE: 2015 GMC Sierra Denali-catastrophic fuel pump failure

Ford 6.7 Diesels use the same pump. I've read the horror stories about the CP4 on the Ford diesel forums. $12K is not out of line to repair the damage caused by this pump when it fails catastrophically. You have my sincere sympathy. I cross my fingers that it never happens to me.

RE: High brake light?

I was going to install one of these till I read something in the DOT regulations that specified if one of these exists it better work or you may be cited. Why risk it? Besides, if the driver of the vehicle behind you is distracted (using cellphone, texting, etc.) all the brake lights in the world may not save you.

RE: 2020 Powerstroke upgrades

You do realize dollar share price is not the value of a company. It usually reflects the company's value, yes. Need to consider the number of shares outstanding. In the case of F there are something North of 3.9 Billion shares. At $10 a share that comes to a total capitalization of $39 Billion. Source: Yahoo Finance.

RE: 2020 Powerstroke upgrades

Am I seeing things or are those pistons flat as a pancake? What would keep them from wobbling and getting stuck in the cylinder?

RE: Rancho 9000's or Bilsteins?

I cant speak for Rancho . We have Bilstein 4600 monotubes on our F250 and they made a huge difference while travelling over bridges and general overall towing. My vote is Bills. Same experience for us.

West or east side of the mountains? Preferably West side.

RE: Selecting new TT Tires

Barney just stole my thunder. I've have/had both Maxxis M8008 and the Goodyear Endurance tires. They are both great tires. Buy whichever is cheaper or more available from you dealer. By all means go up to LR-E if your wheels will hold 85 PSI.

RE: Washington National Parks-- route recommendations?

If I wanted to go directly from Mt. Rainier NP to North Cascades NP while avoiding the worst that Seattle has to offer what route(s) should I take? I've already been to Olympic NP. I'm towing a 34' TT.

RE: Newby questions

As far as backing up in a travel trailer it's actually easier than backing a boat trailer since it doesn't react as quickly so you have time to make corrections. Also, it helps to keep a sense of humor and not worry about what the other campers think of your abilities. Many of them have been in your shoes. After five years of traveling cross-country we love our trailer.

RE: Weight/tow capacity question....

Yes but don't be misled. That what the marketing material may say but the real live trailer may have a different weight depending on what options are installed.
