RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. My neighbor went to buy a shotgun Friday and was told the shotguns were sold out and also handguns Ammunition was limited to one box per customer. This was Cabela's. I told Steve I had enough for the both of us. Coyotes are back on the prowl, I guess its that time of year when the pups are being born and they need extra food. Anyway lately we have been hearing them in the woods by the house howling at night. I hate to shoot them. but they can be so destructive and harmful to our pets. I guess they have a right to live as much as anything else. God put them here for a reason and it is their part to balance nature. Everything has a place in nature, God planned it that way. The African proverb says. When the sun comes up in the morning the lion is chasing a Gazelle for his food. The Gazelle is running for his life. SO when the sun comes up you best be running. When I watch the nature programs on Television I see the side of nature where the young are being born and the parents are out gathering food to bring back to the den. I see nature taking care of it's own. The fox kittens and the coyote pups are cute. I see where sometime people will take them and try to domesticate them. They are still wild animals and can be dangerous. Occasionally you will see where a lion or Gorilla is raised up in a family setting. It is cute at first but them they grow into adults and are kept in a house or cage. this is unnatural and is stressful on the animal. I remember seeing in the news when a Chimpanzee tore the face off of a woman visiting the home where the Chimp lived. It was a bad thing that happened. but some animals cannot be tamed to the point of being completely safe. I had a neighbor when I lived in National Hills that had a pet raccoon, One day he went to give the raccoon fresh water and the raccoon attacked him. He was wounded very badly on his arm. The raccoon was put down and it took a long time for Bob's arm to heal as the bite wounds were very deep. I have seen a fox that was raised from a baby and how he had adapted to his life with humans. He was so affectionate to his handler. He would act like a dog at times. So excited to see his handler come home and play with him. He was kept in the house during the evening hours and out in a pen during the day while his folks were at work. He was so playful and his love for his people was evident when you saw him with them. I don't know what happened to the fox over the years, I just hope he had a great life and it all ended well. Okay enough rambling. I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. WE have elderly people going to the hospital and family have been turned away from entering because of the threat of spreading the virus. This has caused a lot of stress within the family not being able to be with loved ones during their stay in the hospital. I understand the reasoning behind this, but it makes it hard on those folks who are elderly and don't want to be separated from those they love and care for. This virus has affected so many people and business. You wonder when it will stop. Okay we are well here and seem to be okay. WE don't have any symptoms of illness so far. WE are staying home. Only go out to grocery store and drug store. Not venturing out into mainstream crowds such as malls and shopping centers. Please use caution during these times and stay safe. I wish everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me nd be sure to tell somoen you love them

Good morning everyone. Well we are still here. NO sickness at camp Dixie this morning. Hope all is well with everyone. All the COE campgrounds are closed here. If you are already there you can stay until your reservations are over, but no new people coming in to stay. Greenville has not been hit too hard with only a few cases of coronavirus being reported. 85 inmates have been released from the jails and sent home. Talked with Charles in Texas yesterday and Texas is taking seriously the coronavirus. Here No restaurants are open for dine in. It's all take out. The grocery store was busy yesterday as Sue and went for some essentials. Bought gas for the land yacht and then came home. The old Lincoln is till running good and the air is blowing cold. Yesterday we saw 81 degrees and today will be another warm one. The pollen is very heavy right now. There is a heavy dusting of pollen on everything outside. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. This morning I feel okay. No drainage, no sniffles, no sore throat. So I guess what ever it was decided to find somewhere else to live, Yesterday was our first real spring day. Today we will be in the 80's. The pine tress are budding with the yellow pods and filling the air with pollen. Pollen is covering everything outside. The kitties are still hanging around our porch waiting for food. Yesterday we saw the neighbor feeding them so I know they are being fed. The Outer Banks in North Carolina has closed down. No one from outside the area is allowed in. The North Carolina reality commission is asking all monies be refunded to those folks who have paid for rental houses. This is hitting hard those people who have given commissions to the agents that rented the houses to those folks who were coming for the summer fun and surf. I guess if I had paid for a rental home and was not able to use it I would want my money back. Times are getting hard. My x-sister in law just became a millionaire over night. She and her husband owned 100 acres of land out in Columbia county. It has turned into a busy industrial corner and she sold the property. Her husband is in a government care facility with Alzheimer's. He has been there for several years now, It's been hard on her but now things will be much easier. She and her husband have always been God fearing people. They raised their children in church and have always been the kind of people you want as family. I hope all is well with everyone and I wish you a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone youlove them.

Good morning everyone. Woke up sick this morning, sore throat running nose and congestion. Don't kow if it's a cold or what. just have too wait and see. I did have the sniffles a few days ago and it cleared up with some cold medicine. Maybe just a cold or sinus allergy. There is pollen in the air from all the trees and flowers that are blooming so maybe that is it. No fever so that is a good sign. I hop everyone is well and looking forward to spring camping. All of our state parks and camp grounds are close due to the corolla virus. Never seen such in my life. I will be glad when all of this has passed. The fur babies are well. Suzie amazes me. At almost fourteen years old she can still jump up on the bed. She shows no signs of joint pain. She loves to go for walks and she eats well. Just such a blessing to see her enjoying life at her age. Okay I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Good morning everyone/ We are well and have plenty of toilet paper. Don't kow why the run on TP, can anyone explain it?. Could it be the people who make toilet paper have found a new way to sell it? WE have stopped feeding the outdoor kitties hoping they will go home. So far they are still hanging around. Our neighbor called and requested we not feed them anymore so they would go back home. Since they are the owners of the kitties we have obliged them. Sue is off to church to pray. The church prayer room is open so folks can go pray for our nation and our president. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give he fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

I am waiting to hear about how the the wedding went :) The wedding went well. I managed to get it done without any mistakes or stumbling through the words. The bride and groom are in Hawaii right now on their honeymoon. I think most likely that is the last wedding I will do.. I hope all is well with everyone. Spring has finally gotten here. Thursday we will see a high of 78 degrees and Friday we will see a high of 80. At our neighbors request we have stopped feeding the cats. After all they are the neighbors cats and not ours. They have been over here begging for food. They didn't spend the night with us last night, The cat condo was empty all night and the heated bed was removed so the only place left for them is the cat condo. I guess it was not to their liking I don't know why I have become so attached to those cats, iys not like me to be a cat person, However I have become very attached to them, especially Little Bit. She has the sweetest face and loves to cuddle. She has stayed at our house without leaving more than the other kitties. She really likes it over here. She spends most of her days over here lying around in the cat condo or on top of it. The little Feral kitty hasn't been around in a long time. I guess it is gone, been eaten by a coyote, run over by a car or just found some other place to live. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Good morning everyone. THe surgery went well I am able to see. My sight is as good as it was years ago. So much better. I am able to read the computer screen and the computer key board. I will be able to perform the wedding ceremony this weekend for my granddaughter without a problem. Thank you for your prayers. Now to get back to life and camping. Hope to be able to do something about travel before we sell the camper. Daughter Robin is coming to stay with us for a while. Her husband Ed is about to take his last breath. He has kidney failure and other things going on. He is in hospice right now and soon as Robins gets his affairs finished she will be leaving Blakely and moving in with us. Her husband's will is such that all of the land and house will go to his children leaving Robin nothing and no where to live after his is gone. So she is going to leave Blakely and come to live with us until she can get herself settled here in this area. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure totell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. I have a wedding coming up this weekend, Hope I will be able to see to do it. Where is Spring? it's still cold here and the nights are still in the 30's. At least we are bit freezing at night, I am ready for some warm weather. I hope all is well with everyone. I remember the spring of 1964, I had so many things to look forward to. It was a new beginning for me in many areas. We were expecting a new baby in November. It was the beginning of the new season for NASCAE. And I was looking forward to going back to school for and advanced course in automotive engineering. It was a fun filled year with lots of new learning curves. I am now past those years and can't remember what it was I was supposed to learn. All I remember is the school was difficult I was able to apply what I was learning in school to put to practical use in the filed. TDC was a term I remember. Top Dead center. The torque of a main bearing on a 390 engine is 105 pounds. Timing was set at 8 degrees unless you wanted better performance then we set it at 12 degrees as long as you didn't get spark knock or pre-ignition which would burn a hole in the top of a piston. The 427 engine was just beginning to be used for racing and we found out just what an awesome engine it was. Anyway that is just a few things that was going on back then. I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. Surgery on Monday was postponed. I was told I would be called when the doctor is ready for my surgery. This is so frustrating. My PMR is really working on me. So much going on all at same time. This morning I didn't want to get out of bed. Sue gets frustrated with me and tries to make me force myself to do things That I really don't feel like doing. Her argument is I need to be active in order to get better. The problem is if you don't feel like doing something or feel as if the pain is more than what you achieve then where is t worth it. Anyway tat is what is going on here at Camp Dixie. I am getting worn down. I don't know what tomorrow holds but I know who holds all my tomorrows. God will always be with me no matter what. I hope all is well with everyone. I got a phone call last night from Ernie Jordan a dear friend that moved to New Hampshire two years ago and I really miss his advise and support he gave. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love tem. Just got a phone call from the doctor that the surgery was back on for Monday at 1:pm.

Good morning everyone. I am having a terrible time seeing, I am guessing as I type. I am typing blind as I cannot see the key board on the computer. So when you see misspelled words at least you know I am trying. Hopefully surgery on Monday will correct this problem I am having right now. Anyway I am getting frustrated right now so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them. I have gone back over the post and don't see any typos right now so I will close and whish you a bleseed day.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. I am so sick. Don't know if it is a very bad cold or the flu. Anyway I am very sick. Sue had whatever this is and now I have it, I keep getting these phone calls "This is the last chance before we close your files to take advantage of our exclusive offer to purchase an extended warranty for your vehicle." Anyway I won't rant here for this is not the place for it. Okay I hope all is well with everyone. We are having an early spring. trees have blooms on them and the some flowers are blooming. It' still very cool weather, not the typical warm spring days of the deep south. The nights are still in the 30's but no frost. I have been reaching out to my best friends family lately. Tommy and I were the best of friends in school. He died with pancreatic cancer d few years ago. It's strange how we let so much time go by without reaching out pt each other. His children are asking questions about our childhood and the things we did growing up. His sister has told them all the stories, but I guess something has stirred them up and they want to know more about their dad and his friends. He has a daughter and a son that didn't get to spend much time with him s he married late in life and hen got busy with his career of becoming a doctor. He made quiet a name for himself ate the University of South Carolina Medical school. There are some achievement awards given out to students that achieve the highest GPA in certain subjects. Tommy told me stories about when he was stationed at Guantanamo Naval base While he was in the service. He would be stationed on patrol to guard the fort without any bullets for his rifle. Was told if he needed any report to the officer in charge and he would get them for him, Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give he fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good afternoon everyone. All is well here at camp Dixie. The sun is shining and no rain in sight and it is warm outside. Church member brought firewood yesterday so we have fire wood in case it gets cold again. I have been able to get in touch with the family of a childhood friend that I grew with. His sister lives in Sylvania, Georgia and has family on face book. He has family in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina which is just outside of Charleston, SC. I am hoping to be able to meet with his family sometime in the near future. There is a very nice campground close to Charleston named Oak Plantation. The only problem with it is there is no left turn out of the campground during heavy traffic at certain times of the day. YOu have to turn right, go around behind the campground on a back street to get to a traffic light so you can turn left to go into Charleston, Dan and Patty and Dan and Lori have stayed there before. Anyway I am hoping we can make this trip before we sell the truck and camper. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Richard, please call a doctor - the older you get the less your max heart rate should be, 170 would not be good even for me at 56! My wife is diabetic as well and we keep Powerade Zero around all the time, it has electrolytes in case something were to screw up her sugar or electrolyte levels. Same idea as Pedialyte really. Sue's blood pressure settled down and she has been fine since early this afternoon. Right now she is going to bed as I am also. Looking for a better tomorrow.
