RE: Getting rid of campfire smoke odor

This may sound all too easy, but take a bowl, and fill it with fresh coffee grounds, and leave it in the coach as long as possible. We had a similar problem with a car that we bought. The person that owned it before us was a cigarette smoker, put a bowl of fresh coffee grounds on the floor in front of the back seat, and in about a week no more smell. Hope this helps.

RE: Is older really better than newer....

I agree with most of the posts. We sold our 14 year old "Open Road" and bought this "Grand Design" and all I've been doing is work on this unit. Yes the technology is up to date, but that does not get me down the road. I do have to admit that this (Grand Design) unit is not as heavy as the older one. We did keep the older unit in great shape and sold it for way more than it was advertised in NADA. Shop around, and if you can find a good unit, as mentioned in other posts, and, for a good price you would then have room for any and all updates.

RE: Water hose

Not "CHEAP" but it will be the last hose you will ever buy! They have several lengths along with SS and Brass ends. They sell fittings, valves and pressure regulators and more. Going on 4 years of full time use. Thank you Cummins12V98 I will check their website. I can see you can search more than hoses.

RE: Water hose

I use a Flexzilla hose. Drinking Water safe, won't kink up and works great in cold temperatures. Not cheap though. Flexzilla Hose Thank you I will check this out.

Water hose

Can anyone recommend a water hose that stays flexible during cooler temps. Right now I have the Camco water hose and when the temps get around 40 degrees or so, it is simply annoying to try to roll these hoses up for storage. Thanks

RE: Oil Change

There are a great deal of good answers here. The technology in todays oil is far better than years ago. We have an LB7 Duramax engine and the recommended oil change interval is 10,000 miles. I have never gone that long on an oil change. I usually change the oil every 5,000 miles, even on the road. I can't see any long term damage to your engine if this is the only time you go over your comfort zone on one oil change. It has been recommended, and I agree, to check your oil level often and enjoy your trip.

RE: How is I-10E in Texas?

We just came back from Kerrville Texas on Friday and I-10 is a good road. It was a bit slow through El Paso. We were not in a hurry so we stayed over night in Van Horn. Diesel and gas are higher than it was in New Mexico. Safe travels.

RE: Carefree electric awning question

I use slide-out lube for all the hinged and sliding parts. I also use the slide-out lube on the gas cylinder if so equipped.
