RE: Need a new toad-a sporty one

What's wrong with another Miata? A Wrangler with top off is sporty too. I've had both and loved each!

RE: Route from MA to Myrtle Beach,SC with the least traffic

We always take the Pike to I/84 to PA. If the weather is good we stay on 84 to Scranton and take I/81 south. If it's threatening we take US 209 (first exit in PA) to I/80 to PA 33 to I/78 to I/81 just above Harrisburg. There are no mountains; so it's warmer and less of a chance of fog or snow. At Winchester VA you can take US 17 to I/95.

RE: Best ride for the buck

I believe Newmar uses "hung-wall" construction on the smaller diesels like the Ventana. This makes for a very quiet drive. Entegra only uses it on the Aspire and up. We had 2 gassers, Winnebagos and 2 DPs. There is NO comparison the DP wins all the time. We enjoyed a Journey for 75,000 miles and had no complaints about the noise. But a DP costs more to buy and more to maintain. You have to use it enough to justify the money.

RE: Auxiliary brake system

We've been using the same one for 21 years. Towed Jeeps, a Colorado and for the last 10 years a Silverado. It's been back to the factory twice ($200+-) with about a week turn-a -round.

RE: Gas Class A

We started with a Winnebago Adventurer; moved onto a Itasca Suncruiser (really the same thing) and crossed the country (round trips) eight times with Jean's 80 year old mother. All was well. We are on our second DP and all is better. There is nothing wrong with a quality gas motor home!

RE: Towing 5K # with a gasser

We towed a GC and a Colorado Crew, they were both close to 5000 when loaded with a 38' gasser. Each was within our limits and we never had a problem related to towing. Now we tow with a 450 HP DP and still are never the first ones to the top of the hill. That's Okay!

RE: generator auto start for charging?

Call Winnebago, when we had a Winnie, they were always very helpful.

RE: Rapid City, SD to Yellowstone

Chevy1, that's a good route but I think 191 to 26 to 20 to I/25 would be just as easy and cut out a lot of miles.

RE: Slide room lock ??? on Winne MH

We had a '11 Journey with slide locks. They broke a couple of times. There is a tiny "micro switch" in side that is very fragile. I took them out and never used the locks in 75,000 miles of traveling without a problem.

RE: Black tank not draining!

Before we learned the proper way to use the black tank, I bought a flusher at Camping World that you used from the toilet. It's only a short stiff hose with and open/close valve and a spray head. It worked well; then we never needed it again. You could also fill the black tank with clean water and let it sit for a while.
