RE: Inverter

Thank-you all for your input and suggestions. I have looked on line and new Freedom458 Inverter/Chargers seem to run from 1000 to 1500 dollars with a new remote control board approx. 150 dollars but my question is what does the word Xantrex mean, this word is now part of the name of the inverter, for example Xantrex Freedom 458 Inverter/Charger? I take the motorhome to my mechanic on Monday. The prices I see for the new inverters even with labor should keep the cost well under the 3000 dollar cost he thought it could cost. My last question is how hard would it be for me to change out the inverter, and I am no means a electrician even though I changed the battery in my jeep.

Inverter

A few days ago (11-7-21) I posted problems with my 7500 generator which I am still researching but I am also having problems with my Freedom 458 inverter/charger my interior control board is not re-acting to my commands, for instance it will not show the condition of my batteries, the invert button will not turn on the invert phase or turn off the invert phase as the invert button stays lit. By pressing the set-up,charge and invert buttons I can get the inverter off even though the invert light button is still on. I know this by plugging an appliance into an inverter outlet. I looked at my manuals in the trouble- shooting sections and they don't seem to address the problems I am having. I hoped that maybe the control panel inside the motorhome could be the problem. I have talked to my mechanic who has done work on the motorhome previously and he will check the system out but he has generally found is that the inverter is bad. He thought that maybe the cost could be 3000 dollars but that was not a quote. Looking at the internet I see these inverters from 1000 to 1500 dollars so his guess is probably way off. One question I have if the repair is too expense why do I need an inverter with a good working generator? Any thoughts or suggestions I would greatly appreciate. My mechanic also thought that maybe I had a fitting gone bad after I changed the fuel filter, he said that sometimes if the filter was leaking after the change that that could cause the problem. As I mentioned in my previous post that my largest fitting on the filter was leaking and I tightened it to stop the leak. thanks for letting me post this, I think this must be my longest post.

RE: 7500 diesel generator

Thanks for replies, changed the air filter, I did get blinking when the generator stopped and I will check the spark arrestor. I do have a new fuel filter coming and I will change just in case the one installed was faulty. After I initially changed to the new filter I did have a leak from the largest fitting but was able to tighten it and the leak stopped. Thanks again for the help.

7500 diesel generator

Just got back from a 2000 trip. Had trouble with my generator, I think that it is self inflicted. The generator will start after much trying and only run for a couple minutes and then shuts down and when it does run its very rough. About a month ago I serviced it which included changing the fuel filter. When I started it after the service it was hard to start but finally did. I figured that air was in the lines and worked its way out after it started and ran. I think my problem with it now is that I still have air in the fuel lines. My question is how do I bleed the air out? The generator is an Onan 7500. Thanks for your help.

RE: Anyone else run out of diesel ?

Where was your motorhome stored, at home or in a storage lot? My wife just came and said she just read on her Next Door Neighbor app that fuel was being stolen from vehicles in storage lots in our area. we live in Rescue Ca. and keep our motorhome in a lot near Diamond Springs. With fuel prices being so high I'm afraid that we are going to see more and more of these things. On my Cat engine I had a second filter installed that has a primer pump installed on it. You might check to see if your Cummins has a primer on it. Please keep us posted on your Repairs.

RE: 22.5 wheels

My Phaeton came with 221/2" wheels when I bought it new but when it came time to change out the tires I changed the wheels to Alcoa's. I went with 4 polished and the 2 inter wheels I installed non polished. I don't think anything is wrong with using the steel wheels on the inside rear wheels but I wanted all aluminum. I took one of the steel wheels and put one of the used tires on and I am able to fit a fully mounted and aired up tire and wheel in the compartment next to my propane tank compartment. I sense changed the tires out again and then changed the spare to the newer aged out tires. I think I am old school but I feel better with a spare tire. I have extra steel wheels that I would gladly give to anyone who needs a spare for their motorhome. I live above Sacramento off highway 50.

RE: Allison 3000 transmission

I would like to thank everyone who responded to my topic question about the changing of my transmission fluid. I have an appointment for next Tuesday to do the fluid change. They will use the Transynd TES 668. One of the responses gave me a link to an Allison site stating that they are using this fluid in all of their transmissions. Thanks again for the help.

Allison 3000 transmission

I had my Allison 3000 transmission oil changed to Trans Syn synthetic fluid at 34,911 on 2/12/15. I have now just under 50,000 miles and my question is should I have the transmission fluid changed again? I understand at the fluid change at 34,000 that the oil in the torque converter was not changed so this change would add too the impurity of the synthetic fluid. I also wondered if I waited too long to make the second synthetic change? my transmission seems to perform perfectly. Any thoughts or ideas? The diesel engine is the Cat C7. Thank-you

RE: New Furniture

I get notices from etrailer.com they supply equipment for trucks, trailers, boats and RVs. I just noticed RV recliners advertised for a good price, you might pull up their site and take a look.
