RE: Steps don't stay out/shade won't go all the way down

I agree Doug. It’s definitely all related to the same problem. I just need to isolate that problem.

I’ll check the isolation switch and report back.

Steps don't stay out/shade won't go all the way down

My friend has a recurring issue on his Fleetwood Storm motorhome that I need help with. When he parks the RV he puts the e-brake on, takes out the slides and puts down the auto leveling jacks witohut any issues. However if he goes to bring the power shades down in the front they only go halfway down and the steps also don't stay extended even with the switch in the OFF position. Also the chassis battery slowly drains and dies completely if he leaves everything overnight. I figure the "brain" thinks the engine is still on maybe due to a power short somewhere or something. Any help in finding this short or issue would be great. I think there's also some kind of solenoid that disconnects the house from chassis battery when the engine is shut off. This could also be the culprit maybe... still need help finding and diagnosing the issue.

RE: Where is the Converter/Charger!!! Aaargh! Finally found it. It's exactly where the Winnebago diagram says it is. It is definitely NOT easily accessible. After removing the breaker box to locate it, I still couldn't access it. I removed the sliding door and removed the lower wall paneling on the right hand side of the fridge to pull it out and access the area more easily. I'll definitely be putting it back in there in another way to make it easier to access next time and probably adding a grill vent to that area for better ventilation.

RE: Where is the Converter/Charger!!! Aaargh!

I found the inverter. It’s the converter charger I need to find :)

RE: Where is the Converter/Charger!!! Aaargh!

I didn't know the diagrams were all available on their website, that is awesome! I do hear a fan kick on now and then in that location. They sure made it hard to access. I'll keep digging tomorrow in that area and I'm sure I'll find it. I had looked under the bunk but there was nothing there either. I guess I'll have to take more stuff apart. Thanks for the help.

RE: Where is the Converter/Charger!!! Aaargh!

It’s not by the batteries which are under the entrance steps and I don’t know where the transfer switch would be or looks like... the inverter has a built in transfer switch from what I can tell since it has a DC in and AC in and AC out.

Where is the Converter/Charger!!! Aaargh!

Looking to change my Converter charger in my 2008 Winnebago Sightseer 35J. I've looked everywhere and I can't find it! As you can see in the pictures the inverter is under the sink. The hot water tank is under the stove and under the firdge is the power distribution for the 110V but no converter anywhere! Please help. I tried embedding the pictures but it didn't work so I had to do links instead... Pic1 Pic2 Pic3 Pic4

RE: Inverter/converter vs stand-alone units: lots of questions

I’m thinking I’ll get two good standalone units based on the information you guys gave me. A PD92xx and probably a small 1000w inverter. This also allows me to shut off the inverter when I don’t need it and not shut off the converter. Thanks everyone.

Inverter/converter vs stand-alone units: lots of questions

I have a 2008 Winnebago sightseer 35J. I’m looking to upgrade the parallax 7400 converter/charger to a better charger for my two 6V deep cycle batteries. I’m doing some research I was also thinking of upgrading my 300 watt Dimensions unlimited power inverter win-12/300. I’d be looking in the 1000watt range at most just to run the tv and DVD and other small 120v stuff. I know I’ll have to upgrade the wiring from the batteries to the inverter if I go to a bigger inverter and I’m fine with that. Do most inverter/chargers include a transfer switch? Is it better to get two standalone units or should I get an inverter/charger to replace both? Would I lose anything by going to a single unit instead of two? What is the best brand to go with? Is there an inverter/charger that has a 4phase charging system like the progressive dynamic units? Has anyone done this? I can easily locate the inverter since it is under my sink but I can’t find the converter/charger. Does anyone know where it would be?
