RE: How best to improve a primitive RV site to rent it out?

Better check with the county/local and state governments, especially in NY where you can not take a dump without some type of expensive permit, usually proceeded by a pile of red tape. We used to live north of Albany so I know all about how things work in that hole of a state. That's a great area though, and I personally would jump at the chance to camp on sites such as in your description. No cell service is a huge bonus as it will keep the riff raff away

RE: Is Lance the “gold” standard

Only if the gold standard includes the gravity fill tube popping loose on a Lance travel trailers first trip while filling, totally flooding the entire floor, because Lance did not install a clamp. How about on a later trip having the entire fresh water tank exit the unit. That's gold standard in my eyes.

RE: Fulltime Capable RVs

I just read Tucker Ballister's article, "The Best RVs for Full-Time Living." I was disappointed not to see some of the high-end manufacturers and their quality products listed. Quality products? LOL. I have found the quality only exists in the RV Industry on websites and brochures. Go high end, something on a Prevost foundation. Do that and it's clear you have enough coin or credit line/debt to have others maintain and make the repairs which will be needed at some point. High price is no guarantee of anything, especially so quality, which is subjective in itself.

RE: RV campground closing

All the planets need to align for a campground or RV park to be the most financially beneficial use of real estate. I've seen more than one campground ripped out in the recent past, one I know of that was in business for over 50 years is now where the Pittsburgh Penguins train north of Pittsburgh, and is now part of UPMC.

RE: Poop in outside sink

I don't ever recall any sink being plumbed into a black water tank on a rv. Either something else is happening or it plumbed wrong. It's done on some floorplans with outside kitchens either because it was required to be done or the builder took the cheap route. In the case of Keystone RV they always take the cheap route and have always done so. This is one sheety situation is it not lol?

RE: Best route from Morgantown, WV to Blackwater Falls SP

Maybe it's changed, but during a week we spent in 2020 at BWFSP campground there wash a rash of overnight thefts in the campground. Bikes, grills, stoves, kayaks, anything that was not nailed down was growing legs and walking off overnight. The scuttlebutt at the time was local meth smoking tweakers out for a quick payday.

RE: 40’+ limitations?

We had a 40+ foot 5r for 6 years. Anyone who claims it is not an issue at times is in denial. If you exclusivly camp in pack em in paved parking lot commercial places such as KOA etc, the size may or may not be an issue. It definitely is in most if not all state and federal administered campgrounds, even moreso if they're wooded and in the eastern half of the US. I'm not claiming I can fit it every site out there. However I have no problem finding state parks ,county parks and COE parks with sites that fit my rig. I do not camp exclsively camp at Private parks. There are plenty of public parks with sites to accomodate my rig. That's great but if you were to pull into the state park I sit in as I type this you would be SOL. At least for any of the sites that could accomodate anything over 32' or so. All of those sites were booked solid months ago. When we had the monster it took a lot of extra time scoping out places and sites along with having a quick trigger finger for reservations. And at this particular park the host and rangers are parking nazis. Get the tow vehicle off the gravel or in the grass and you get an earful. There may be plenty of parks with sites that will accomodate, but you have to work at finding those large enough sites and they're a miniscule percentage of the total sites in those parks.

RE: Possible Canada boarder opening mid August

Good Luck. Here in the US you can expect gradual worsening with full blown doom and gloom in place as we get closer to the 2022 mid term elections. Never let a good crisis go to waste. Count on it.

RE: black water tank treatments

I'd rather waste my money on beer and bourbon. They're not septic systems but holding tanks. Maybe if you leave it full of poop for two months after adding some Ridx or something it, might start breaking something down, but with the relatively low volume I doubt it.

RE: MN changing to EZ-Pass

We actually have two EZ Pass transponders, one for towing and one if running solo. Just have to make sure you have the correct one on the windshield with the other in it's shielded bag. Not sure why, overcomplication? I have used 1 ez pass transponder for years on different vehicles towing and not towing. The system detects how many axles are along for the ride. You just have to have all the license plate numbers/vehicles listed on the account, and even that is not really required as they'll reference the tag by photo, cross-reference it to your registration, and find your account. The trailer does not need to be listed.

RE: Just an eye opener

Those conduits most likely terminate a few inches underground and then it's direct buried wire. The sky is not falling. I have seen underground transformer and distribution vaults in downtown Buffalo NY completely full of water up to the sidewalk level access openings.
