RE: Beware Gift Card Scam

My wife bought the card at the local drug store. It was sealed in the package like all other card. The cashier said they were familiar with the scam but it was sporadic, not all card were affected.

Beware Gift Card Scam

I don't really understand how it works but we were scammed. I received an Apple gift card for Christmas. When I tried to use it I got the message that it had not been properly activated. I went to the drug store and found out that when it was activated at the register it actually activated a card for Best Buy. The lady at the cash showed me when she scanned my Apple card it came up as Best Buy. When she scanned another it showed Apple. So now it's in the hands of the fraud squad etc. I doubt we will ever see any money from this. SO... When you buy a card have it scanned first to see if that's what you're buying. Apparently this a scam perpetrated way up the chain where the cards are printed. BEWARE P.S. NO, the card can not be used at Best Buy.

RE: Tablet Battery Charging

To repeat what I posed two days ago. I speak from personal experience. Don't leave it charging 24/7 I ruined one that way. I used it as a hotspot all summer at the cottage. As it was explained to me. The phone will stop charging at 100% but it always sips away using background app like wifi, blue tooth etc. The battery drops to 99% so it charges up again. If it does that for hours on end it will heat up and deteriorate. Mine swelled up so much it popped off the back cover.

RE: Tablet Battery Charging

A fast charger won't harm it, just don't keep it charging 24/7. A general rule is to keep it between 30-80% for longer battery life.

RE: Fulltime family of 4: 2019 year in review

Are the kids happy? What do kids say to their friends, not to you,...their friends? As a trade, is shooting photos around Disney a worthwhile occupation? HUH?

RE: Wi-Fi extenders

An extender doesn't give you a stronger signal it simply extends the signal it receives. If you put it at the far end of the router signal you get nothing. If you put it where the signal is 50% it will extend that out beyond the router's range. Or sumtin like that

RE: No Warranty on your RV? Don't buy new?

Basically... You are towing a box down a bumpy road. Something will go wrong, an inconvenience for you can be a major catastrophe for others. There is no right or wrong Sh*t happens!

RE: cabin fever !

A month ago we had a deep, deep freeze -26C windchill. That really threw a scare in everybody. This past week it's been mild and now it's raining. No matter the weather you have to get our and embrace it.

RE: Ready for Christmas!

Knock on wood, everything is peachy here. Over the past 12 months I dropped 60 lbs. When your doctor worries about it, you get a little concerned. Went through a battery of tests and exams, MRI etc. Nothing wrong. Did another weighing this morning. Dr. more or less shrugged and said. Dude, you lost weight be happy. There is a full lasagna with my name on it, woohoo :-) P.S. No carbs and only two eggs for breakfast.

RE: Stay off the ice! 3 Trucks and TT go through ice into lake.

Unless you are ice fishing for survival it's a stupid pastime... Little more energy can be gained from the meat normally caught than was expended catching it... In a survival situation that can help you keep your "bank account" closer to the black but, overall, you are wasting energy... Then you just don't get it. Some people love fresh caught fish. For some it's the social gathering. Small villages of fishing huts will pop up, much like an RV park. Nope you don't get it.

I've walked on ice a foot thick and clear as glass. Very, very spooky

My father use to ice fish. One winter he had to get an extension for the ice auger. The ice was four ft thick.

RE: Flattest, warmest route to Las Vegas in January from NC

I-40 all the way. You can't avoid hills, might as well take the gentlest ones. It's winter so why risk some backroute. The freeways are usually the first cleared.

RE: Worst RV Brand List

I wonder how many complaints came from people who don't know how to work a hammer or screwdriver. What might really throw somebody can probably be fixed in short order by most of us. Not an excuse for shoddy construction but... Last week I bough a simple shelf at IKEA. I always read reviews. It had 5 stars, of course it did it's a shelf. It had a 1 star from someone who had trouble scraping off the label. Now imagine this person working a GPS or fixing anything in a trailer.

RE: You don't need it.

After our first trip I cleaned out everything we never touched. I replaced all my tools with one of those cheapo tool kits from the hardware store.... small socket set, vice grips, combo screwdriver, pliers etc. It served all my needs and 20 yrs later I still have it and seldom needed it. P.S. We don't boondock so we are never far from a store.
