RE: Loss of Transmission fluid

Larry, your five minutes of maneuvering is what caused the tranny fluid to “puke.” After my initial scare, I installed a transmission temperature gauge to monitor temps. One time after the gauge install, I was maneuvering our Sunnybrook 27 FKS travel trailer on the level and had the temps go up extremely fast. Hope you do not get steered into an unnecessary expense.

RE: Loss of Transmission fluid

Did you do a bunch of maneuvering and backing up before you shut things down. If you did, you overheated the transmission and puking fluid out the front seal is not uncommon. If your fluid is still nice and bright and does not smell burned, top it off and press on. I had a similar experience with my F-250. Scared me too but operated normally after it cooled down and was topped off. The Diesel Stop web site has many similar stories.

RE: Refrigerator has quit working on elec./ where is fuse?

When we had a similar problem, refrigerator would run on propane only, the problem turned out to be a bad converter/charger. Have you considered that?

RE: Tire dealers in Delaware

No state sales tax in Deleware! There should be a few truck tire dealerships in the area to get quotes from before you buy.

RE: RV Battery

Any competent automotive parts store can tell you the type battery you have installed and recommend an appropriate replacement.

RE: Norcold hinge

Ours broke like that years ago. Did a similar fix. It was after that when the factory came out with a stronger bottom hinge mounting. Check the archives, there was a lot of discussion at the time.

RE: Hwy84 near Pendleton, Oregon

Another plus for fueling at Wild Horse is that YOU CAN PUMP YOUR OWN! It is Oregon.

RE: San Antonio to El Paso

WalMart ion the north side of Del Rio is a good fuel stop. They do have diesel and have sufficient room to maneuver a MH with toad.

RE: Zion visitor during the shutdown report

As to the supposed trash problem, what ever happened to the policies of self responsibility? You pack it in, you pack it out. You ALWAYS leave your camp site cleaner than you found it! If you are too irresponsible to clean up after yourself, perhaps you should find something else to do.

RE: Shutdown park woes

Cardinal rule for responsible campers, You pack it in, you pack it out. Always leave your campsite cleaner than you found it, Those complaining the loudest are probably the biggest laziest slobs of all.

RE: Winnabago Jounery w/ Cummins vs Cat diesel

We bought ours new, factory order. I thought long and hard over the engine choice, the $15,000 upcharge for the Cat and the package that came with it was not worth it to me. The 5.9 ISB-02 and MH2500 have performed quite satisfactorily for us, over 90,000 miles on the MH and at least 80k of those miles towing our 4,000# Taurus X all over the country, coast to coast. Let the coach layout and features drive your choice, either drive train will get you where you want to go. Yes, the Cat is the more powerful option.

RE: Roadside service

Many of these roadside service plans contract with the same service providers. FMCA, Coach Net, Good Sam, etc - the same shop or technician may respond.

RE: Coleman Trueair basement HVAC

Another plus for the basement air is a lower roof clearance if you have a 12 foot garage door opening. I believe the height of the highest item on our MH roof is about 11 feet, six inches. My RV garage door height is 12 feet and anything with a roof mounted unit would be too high to get through the opening.

RE: Battery charging and maintaining ?

Unless things have changed, Winnebago began installing the Trik-L-Start on coaches with the 2007 models to insure both sets of batteries charged while plugged into shore power. Check your coach and your literature, you may be wasteing a worry. I did the mineral oil trick on my lead acid house batteries and eliminated the problem of cooking the batteries and related corrosion. By the way, I also replaced my OE Parallax 7455T Charger/Converter with a PD 9260 unit which uses three automated charge rates.
