RE: Adding a Toy Hauler Extension

Looks like they are based in AZ. Maybe swing by with your car hauler and see if they think the rear framework is strong enough to support the extension. Might work!

RE: We are gonna go camping!

We didn't make it out. Had some problems with our primary car, and that took priority, God was good however, and the bill was under $2000. Now with the shelter in place order, I am not inclined to leave the house vacant, the mopes selection of places to burgle is limited with everyone staying home. Some places in South Seattle are being broken into, while occupied.

Don't think you are going anywhere except to maybe the ER when you get infected. Pray for us!!!!

RE: We are gonna go camping!

Hey there neighbor! Where are you going? Staying local? Scott Grayland if the weather holds. Tokeland Hotel has new owners, and the restuarant is outstanding. They just posted they will deliver to your car. Otherwise going to check the Tacoma Power Parks.

RE: We are gonna go camping!

How has the Coronavirus pandemic effected your plans? If at all? We were already planning some trips, moving up the schedule a bit.

We are gonna go camping!

Grandkid is out of school. Her mom is between jobs. Construction is starting to slow, my wife is retired, and we got places to go! We live in Western WA, looking forward to getting out of town.

RE: Used Arctic Fox

Just like any other brand, look for evidence of past leaks in roof and soft spots in the floors and avoid if either are found (even if they claim it was "fixed"). Other than that, they were built better back then and I think she'll be happy with it. Thanks.

RE: Used Arctic Fox

Thanks, I will make sure to run it across the scale, I have been surprised before with how heavy a trailer can be. Which model Arctic Fox is it? I have a lot of old AF brochures and can look at the weight, if the brochures I have list that model. Roof is the most important thing to look at, and look at it closely. Figure on it needing new tires and the bearings repacked, unless the owner has put new tires on it within the last 2 -3 years and has receipts showing a bearing re-pack. It is a 25RS, I can't find the year, but I think it was about 10 or 12 yrs old. However, we have a hitch in the giddy-up. My daughters employment is seriously affected by the local school shutdown, as in contract employee, no work, no pay. Hopefully, it will still be available when she is back in business. Thanks for checking.

RE: Used Arctic Fox

The weight needs to be looked at carefully. I had a Nash trailer that was stick and tin and I sold it only because it was really heavy. check for water damage. Thanks, I will make sure to run it across the scale, I have been surprised before with how heavy a trailer can be.

RE: Used Arctic Fox

She sent me the VIN, I looked it up, well within the limits of her truck. Where is this "VIN lookup" place that tells you an RV is "within the limits" of a given tow vehicle? I've never heard of a website offering that kind of a database. Probably the same website that says you don't need a wd hitch!! Thanks, really appreciate your well reasoned input.

I've never heard of a website offering that kind of a database. Not hard to find, just use that thing called Google, whatever VIN decoder you use basically gives you the exact specifications for that particular vehicle. The GVWR, the CGVWR, the axle GWR, the rear end ratio, the transmission and engine combination. Then head over to Trailer Life Tow Vehicle ratings, and look up the truck. I know the weight of the trailer, factor in the water, propane, and other misc. equipment, and I know that the combination will work or not. Sorry I didn't take the time to explain all that the first time, I've only been doing this trailer stuff for about 35 years or so.

RE: Used Arctic Fox

You might have a look at the underside if it's a 4 season and look at the underbelly. They don't put washers on the bolts that hold the underbelly up and they pull through the plastic. Not hard to put washers on it. She sent me a bunch of pictures, I will take a second look, thanks, and I will also look at the underside of my TH, it is enclosed.

Used Arctic Fox

My daughter has found a really nice used Arctic Fox. It is about 10 yrs old. She has asked me to look at it. Anything in particular I should look for?

RE: 4 season camping

All good info, thanks, she is heading to the Seattle RV show this weekend. If they make her a deal, she will be calling me to come get it. (Her truck isn't ready yet.)

RE: TorkLift GlowStep Revolution Install and Review

I was given a set for review and promotion a few years ago. I installed them on our bumper pull TH, still using and really like them.

RE: 4 season camping

Why would you take an RV up in the passes to ski? Its a couple hr drive from the coast, rent a room at the resort or in the area when you want to spend the weekend. Way safer that taking an RV into the mountains in the winter for a weekend. Been doing it with kids and grandkids for years. Head up Friday night, grab some tracks early Saturday, teach all day, grab some some tracks early Sunday and head home. Also good for checking out areas that were farther away. Always had chains, never needed them.

RE: 4 season camping

I have a 30ft Roughneck Travel trailer that functions fine at -35F. I wouldn’t call it “4 Season” because it doesn’t have woo hoo stickers proclaiming 4 season. It uses 4 gal propane per day in those conditions. It prefers a supply of 110v ac power for the 2 x 40,000btu rv turbofan furnaces. It wouldn’t be that handy getting to the ski hill cause it weighs 9000lbs dry. But it will keep you warm. More than what her truck can safely haul, and a bit bigger than she is looking for, but the way that the one floorplan is set up like an office would fit her needs in about 5 years. Thanks, I had never heard of these before.

RE: 4 season camping

If price is not a concern, and since you're in the northwest, you may want to check out Bigfoot. I think they are a step above the others mentioned. I finally got to look at one first hand last week. VERY well built and stout. And very ready for extreme weather. I sent her the link, thanks.

RE: 4 season camping

Escape trailers Chilliwack BC - 4 NW season capable. (going to rain, light rain, wet rain, wet snow). Talked to an owner last week. They had used theirs which was spec’d for cold weather at -10F no freezes. Good looking unit, however she is looking for something a bit bigger. Of course that may change.
