RE: A top to bottom look at green energy

As far as trains go, I imagine the enviromental
study could be wrapped up in 10-20 years. :B
:B
Only currently does the 10-20 years apply.
In about a month that will change to 20-40 years and the price of the study will quadruple while they search for the ever elusive Unicorn fart as a power source, Come on man!.

RE: A top to bottom look at green energy

I dont think we can go full green energy anytime soon,bc airplanes for example will need FF for long time yet
However for shorter cross country trip electric high speed trains would do better, especialy for people who dont like to fly
But then we would have to hire chinese or Japanese to build it as our leaders dont seem to know how.
China high speed railways
https://youtu.be/aXo7wi488Eo
Where do they get power to run,,hydroelectric, wind, solar, etc and now
China already leads in renewable energy
https://youtu.be/Lvem_WvLiDU
How can they acomplish so much in such short time
China is run by engineers and well educated scientists, financial experts, not by some washed out tv personality science denier.
https://youtu.be/A3SbhDZtFsk
China is investing in infrastructure, roads, bridges, housing creating jobs for everyone and not wastin money on military no doubt helps.
https://youtu.be/TbyBKTqnkdo
They're the greatest, just follow the rules though or end up being sent to work camp or possibly just dissappear altogether. Those silly Chinese. Perhaps you should move there.
Lots of high speed train manufacturers out there. Spanish, French, German, Japanese. Spend some time on high speed train transport and you might change your tune a bit.
I dont dispute that,
so why cant we build such high speed railways here.?
Its obviously cleaner then burning fosil fuels.
Also
Japanese bullet trains have been trouble free over 40 years running, why are our slow trains so accident prone?
Could be that asians work ethics are better.

Here is some help with your problem.

RE: No hot water during a freeze

LOL.......Bored are we? Maybe go help the guy in that other thread get the stripped screw out of his 10 yr old laptop, or perhaps argue over how many inch pounds it was torqued to by Hewlett Packard and what the temperature was at the time in the factory?

Its highly doubtful a substantial number of lowlife thieves are now searching for some guy named Durbs based on his post, who is located somwhere in the NW. But you never know I guess.

The guy evidently was PO'd that AT&T throttled him back while streaming A Christmas Story or It's a Wonderful Life.
Or perhaps they had those 2 movies on so many channels at once it drove him plain bat sheet nuts lol.

RE: Comcast to charge extra for exceeding 1.2 TB data

For RV and on the road trips I have grandfathered true unlimited AT&T Mobley hotspot with good reception most everywhere and I do heavy movie streaming and web surfing for $22.00 per month with vet discount. Also use Mobley for internet backup at home with AC adapter. Very rare slowdowns or throttling but does happen sometimes. Can use up to 5 devices.
For phone call I use grandfathered AT&T prepaid plan that only charges a dollar a day only for the actual days I use it. Charge per minute or call is almost nothing.
I have Spectrum at home with no data caps and I do very heavy movie streaming, web surfing, heavy uploading and downloading of photos, emailing, etc. etc. with very rare slowdowns and no throttling. Speeds average between 116 to 134 mbs. Sometimes over 7 devices in use. Cost is $59.00 per month. Been lucky with AT&T and Spectrum
All that grandfathering is great until it isn't. AT&T will one day change the rules of the game, you can count on it, they always do.
Hopefully they drag their rear ends doing it.
I wish I had $10 for every time AT&T or Verizon changed the rules even when one was under a written agreement. It's always in the fine print.

RE: Comcast to charge extra for exceeding 1.2 TB data

Consumer Reports has a petition going on to help fight this.
https://action.consumerreports.org/20201221_finance
ROFLMAO.......Now talk about wasting bandwidth and time LOL. Comcast is going to pay attention to some petition? Comcast? Really? Now that's some funny stuff.
Consumer Reports in the past has been pivotal in pushing companies to make reasonable changes that benefit consumers. Better to do something than do nothing.
Ok.
I wager you have never had reason to deal with the fine folks and exceptional customer service from Comcast, as well as the great values they have time and time again. They'rrrrrrre Great!
The petition may have an effect though. It will probably make them raise the prices and reduce the limit to 1TB lol.

RE: Tiffin Acquired by Thor for 300mil.

When Thor purchase Jayco, NOTHING was done to change their people or management. Doug
And your point is? You don't think Thor is going to tell management of acquired companies what to do and how to run the business? I've seen RVs made prior to Thor acquiring a company and the same RVs made after Thor's acquisition. The drop in quality was glaring.
1. I work for a Dealer that sells Airstream/Jayco and Tiffin. ALL have been purchased by Thor
2. I DEAL with all 3 companies almost daily and the Employees tell me not one thing was changed after Thor purchased them
3. I have known Bob Tiffin for 41 years. We have been a Tiffin dealer for 45 years. Doug
So what, all of that means nothing regarding what Thor will do in the future. Thor bought out Dutchmen, rolled the support over to the Keystone division, which effectively amounted to no support at all. The guys who were instrumental in starting Keystone sold out to Thor, then left and started Grand Design. Then they sold that out to Winnebago and Grand Design then became garbage, at least a bigger pile of it than was at the beginning. Fleetwood bought out Coleman, then they drove the quality down and went belly up, were bought out by FCTA, and only lasted 2 years after that. History repeats itself no matter how long you've been an RV tech or who you know.
I drank at a bar one night with Bob Seger, and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.

.
Very high priced, paying for a name.
Because it's a great brand. Like most things in the cycling world, you get what you pay for.
True That!
Plenty of other brands and designs out there that are just as good or better. But then if you're interested in making a fashion statement on the back of your car its your money, have at it

RE: Receiver Bike Racks

Thule Made in Sweden I think is very good quality. I use mine all the time. It is so solid I can use it to stand on going in and out the back door of my truck camper. It also has a built in tightening nut to stop the wiggles. It swings down when not in use.
I got an rv type bike rack for free and only had one single bar to hold the bikes. It was not right as the bikes would swing side to side. So I got the Thule and they all have two bars. Very high end with excellent quality stretch bands to hold the bikes. I would look at Thule.
Very high priced, paying for a name.

RE: Factory Floor Repair at Keystone

Sorry for my rash statement, but your supposed to have plywood over the foam insulation.
How thick do you think it is? Maybe 3/16 of an inch?
Plywood thickness depends on what joist spacing you have. Buying plywood versus OSB is such a negligible cost increase when considering the much lower quality and problems associated with OSB.
Tell that to Thor and Forest River, as laminated floors used in RVs may have what they consider joists as far apart as 4-5 feet, the same as in laminated walls. I've drilled through 5 or 6 over the years and all had 3/16" luan on top and 1/8" luan on the bottom of the lamination.
