RE: 2021 Ford Bronco

I was excited about it until I learned it was IFS which is not ideal for the kind of off roading I do. I will stick with my JK. The Hummer H3 was another IFS with front lockers and it was even worse than the FJ. Folks seem to love the Toyota 4Runner, FJ and Tacomas just fine, not reason this can't be a performer offroad. Its less of a compromise to live with than a Solid front axle rig. H3s from 08 or 09 and up could be had with a front locker.

RE: What is included in the tow package on 2019 infinity qx80.

You do know that the payload for each vehicle is listed on the drivers door right? Maybe check out the Armada, it's what the Infinity is based on and may have a little higher payload rating. The Armada has a different rear suspension though. It uses air-springs with active, cross-linked hydraulic campers, while the Armada has some very soft coil springs that are grossly under-damped. I don't know how that affects payload, but the QX80 handles cargo weight FAR better. I was not aware of that, thanks.

RE: Brophy Tie Downs?

I use the clamp on Brophys for my little pop up camper, they're OK. I would prefer Happijacks or TL but am waiting till I upgrade trucks.

RE: GM trucks outsell Ford first quarter !

NJRVer That’s simply BS!!! Whatever you make you should be living within your means and have enough saved to survive at YOUR income level. How does one survive on a federal minimum wage of $8 hr? They don't, they make do! Barely I do agree with thought. Here in Seattle even with it's $15 min, you make half of what is needed to live! Marty Live within your means. How does one live within their means at $8/hour? Never heard of a food bank and having roommates??? Seriously who do you know that has a full-time job paying $8 per hour? Those people you mention I guarantee you they have Tattoos, Vape, Smoke, Drink and enjoy the Reefer. ALL or some mentioned and none of those are cheap. BTW I have no issue with people doing those things but people always have money to do them. Maybe you should find one of those people and give them YOUR check. Wow, judge much? Even with a roommate and social help it's going to be tough to save. Try showing a little compassion in these hard times. Since you are obviously doing OK why don't you donate your stimulus check to those in need? Back on topic, in the TFL video they mentioned the sales figures for the mid size trucks separately. The Ranger sure has taken a chunk of the GM twins sales, probably the Gladiator to a lesser degree as well. I wish Ford and Ram would separate the full size sales like GM does.

RE: Sun lite Eagle SE cargo light wiring

Like said above, on my Sun Lite there is a plug on the front left corner of the camper that I plug a pig tail into that then plugs into the trailer plug in the rear bumper of my truck. Your camper doesn't have this plug?

RE: It's time for a replacement truck

This has been, and continues to be, a moving and shifting target. I started out really considering one of the gas units. But after some of the advice here, and doing some follow-up research of my own, I'm pretty well convinced that I'm staying with a diesel; Ram or Chevy. Whether it's a 3/4 ton or 1 ton (SRW or DRW) remains to be seen. Budget will play a large influence as well as what is actually available when we're able to actually start looking to buy. I really do appreciate all the information that has been passed my way. It's really helpful to be able to benefit from someone else's knowledge/experience. Thanks! I'm sure it's been said in here somewhere but when looking at 3/4 ton diesels watch the payload ratings, some are under 2,000lbs.

RE: 2019 Ram 6.4 drivers

Please not another gas vs. diesel thread, OP asked about the 6.4l gas Ram not a diesel.

RE: Is a tandem axle cargo trailer worth the extra $ over single

When the tire is FLAT and the wheel is on the ground what are you going to have with you to fix it? This is my way that i don't have to even touch the ground. What would you do to get under and lift the axle with a 13 or 14" wheel? On both of the single axle TTs and one pop up I had, with 10" wheels/tires, I was able to use the bottle jack that came in my truck to lift the trailers. The jack even has the long handles so I can slide it under the trailer without having to get down on the ground.

RE: Leaked 2021 Ford Bronco

I'd like it a lot more if it had a solid axle on both ends. That only matters if you're rock crawling with big tires. For the majority that will never see much more than a dirt road the IFS will be fine. Ford still has issues with death wobble in their solid axle Superdutys so why chance it on a new model driven by soccer moms? Lots of soccer moms are rolling around fine in Wranglers. I understand that most folks don't venture off pavement much, but this is sort of a halo product for Ford and they had an opportunity to create something that would be a hit for enthusiasts but they mailed it in instead. Not surprising but still disappointing. I get what you're saying, in order to truly compete with the Jeep it should have been a solid axle and the enthusiasts will discredit it for that. My guess is that most of the people that will drive one of these will not know the difference. It looks to me like Ford is setting this up to be more along the lines of the Raptor than a rock crawler with all of the teaser videos showing it bombing down a trail at speed rather than slower, tighter trails. I do think the Bronco is a great looking vehicle, I used to have a 73 myself. Wonder if it can tow anything?

RE: 2015 Calorado

The diesels have the 6 speed transmission, the transmission referenced above is the 8 speed, it only comes behind the gas engine. When the 8 speed first came out there were some teething pains but they were worked out by the 2019 model year. Payloads for most Colorados hover around 1500 lbs, the ZR2s are around a 1000 because of the DSSV shocks and suspension changes.

RE: Generator at High Altitude

I had a Champion 3100 that I ran in CO at around 10,000'. It did just fine charging batteries, it even ran my friends Nuwave oven without issue. It ran on whatever jets were put in it from the factory.

RE: What about a Keystone Bullet Colt 17Ft Travel Trailers?

Shorter trailers with only one axle will "porpoise" badly on rough roads. I've had two different single axle campers and never had a problem with porpoising. I had a blowout on one of them at around 65 MPH once, I pulled over and changed it, no swaying or loss of control like so many on here think is going to happen. It's all in how you load it.
