RE: Generator Gas Storage

I use RotoPax. I installed a RotoPax L bracket on the bumper of my AF 990, a Lox T handle and 2 GasPax. I have had them up to 10,000 feet without leaks.

RE: Best used truck campers for ~4400lbs payload SRW 1T 8' F-350

I would stay with a non slide out camper such as Northstar, Northernlite, Cirrus or Wolfcreek. Northwoods Mfg. recommends a dually truck for all their campers with a slide out.

RE: Overloaded or wrong truck?

EC 1165 dry weight 4917lbs Lots and lots of heavy options, big water tanks (-150 gal fresh, grey, black), etc, etc. Definitely OVERLOADED!!

RE: Ordering F-350 7.3 CCLB SRW - how big of camper can I get?

One more "1000#" stuff weight believer. I bought a 2020 Ram 3500 CC SRW to haul our new Northstar 12STC camper. The truck payload sticker was 4340#, so should be able to haul a good size camper, right? We bought the 12STC because we wanted the lightest true dry bath camper we could find. The 12 STC came in at 3330# dry (as weighed). Add water, propane, batteries, solar, the wife, and the camper was at 3945#. When I did the Cat scale camper and truck, then took the camper off and reweighed the truck, the final camper weight was 4780#, a full 1450# more than the dry weight! So I did what many folks do, air bags, adjustable shocks, Torquelift Stableloads, 19.5" tires. It actually handled very well, even though it was 440# overweight. I took my truck to the dealer for the annual safety inspection, and they asked me if I was interested in trading it in. They said they would give me a smokin' deal if I would order a new 2022 truck and trade in the 2020. They did, and I did, and now I have a the same truck with dual rear wheels, and haul the camper just fine with zero accessories. That is the truth about about MFG. weight and the true weight of a TC.

RE: Back up camera recommendations?

I used a commercial camera from Camera Source and a cable that plugs into the receptacle for my tailgate camera. I installed 2 rivnuts in the aluminum bumper of my Arctic Fox and fastened the camera to the bumper.

RE: Influenza 2022-2023 Experiences - Comments Etc.

We went to Myrtle Beach the first 2 weeks of October, right after the hurricane went through. The first week the wife and I were fine but the second week we both became ill with 'something'. We thought was allergies with the sneezing, runny nose stuffy head symptoms. I got body aches for 3 days along with the other symptoms....and no, we had not gotten our flu shots as yet. The stuffy head and sinus issues lingered for 2 more weeks after we got home to East TN. We have since gotten our flu shots. Schools here in TN are being closed because of a high rate of illness among the kids. Looks like we will just keep avoiding crowds and limiting our contact with others. Could have been Covid.

RE: All 2024 GM HDS get the 10 speed Allison.

Who cares what the transmission is called, GM is going to offer a 10 speed HD transmission in their 2024 HD trucks. End of story.

RE: 36" Hitch Extension for 2" Receiver - Are they Made?

Curious to how much weight the Supertruss adds with the extension over stock hitch? (and therefore decreases your "legal" camper carrying capacity?) it must be significant. It's beefy, but not that heavy. If someone is that close on capacity, they have other issues. And towing anything probably shouldn't be on the menu. After some net searching, I estimate that for my application, the hitch itself would add about 30 pounds over the stock hitch. A 36" extension adds about 70 pounds. If towing a 3500 pound trailer, there should be about 350 pounds of tongue weight. All the above reduce the carrying capacity you can put in the bed (your camper). If you have a 4500 or 5500 series truck, it probably won't be a factor. If you have a 2500 or 3500 series truck, you should take notice.. Really, wow!!

RE: COVID PERSONAL EXPERIENCES

We did our yearly trip up to Bar Harbor, ME and there were no mask mandates this year, it was busy with people from every state, Canada and cruise ships. For 5 days we dined out for every meal, went in and out of shops, touched and admired items without our masks and not washing our hands frequently and guess what happened? We caught COVID-19, with cold like symptoms, dam! We are both vaccinated and with both boosters and will return to masking and frequent sanitizing.

RE: Storing My Diesel Truck Over Winter Advice

Anymore old wives tales and misconception we can throw in this thread? Like maybe block your axles up so the tires don’t flat spot or the concrete doesn’t suck the good stuff out of the rubber? Lol When I park my truck for 4 months , I just put down 4 pieces of luan so my truck tires don’t leave black marks on the concrete.

RE: How many of you own an EV?

I don’t know why oil corporation’s are standing by and not perfecting hydrogen fuel refining and distribution. Every automobile manufacturer has hydrogen powered vehicles ready to go to market at considerably lower cost and pollution free.
