RE: Travel Trailer Towing Recommendations

Just priced out a 2022 Chevrolet Express 3500, 12 passenger van loaded ready to go, $47,000.00. Not a bad price compared to a Suburban, Expedition, or Jeep Grand Wagoner. That will tow that TT and all the grandkids without a doubt.

Antivaxxers claim "Covid shots are not vaccines". Why are they against something that in their mind is not a vaccine?:h Just because someone doesn’t feel that the COVID-19 shots aren’t a vaccine, because usually a vaccine is one series and done, doesn’t mean that they against or not participating in the shots. I believe in the shots and have had all of the available shots for COVID-19.

There is no 'perfect' vaccine available anywhere. The problem with the death rate in the US, IMO, is the large number of people refusing to get vaccinated. Very true. People have gotten vaccinated for different diseases for years. This is the only disease in history and the vaccine for it that have become a political issue. Not really, polio was discovered in 1916, the first vaccine was in 1955 and there was problems with it, it actually caused polio in some people, it was perfected in 1960 and the last reported case of polio in the US was in 1979. The shots for COVID-19 are not a vaccine, they are similar to a flu shot.

RE: Truck Bed Crown

This has been brought up a couple times before. Newer GM truck? Folks have "shimmed" the front and rear with thinner plywood under a bed mat. I haven't had every model of GM, but 2 different 2016s, a 1500 and 2500, bed was flat as well as my 2020 1500. Maybe this is only a thing on long beds? Mine have all been shortbeds. Shimming the back with additional pieces of bed mat is what I had in mind but just wanted to hear others ideas. If you put a straightedge flat on the front and middle of the bed there is a 3/8” to 1/2” gap at the back. This is what I did to my 2015 GMC 3500 dually, I placed a 1/2” thick rubber mat across the rear of my truck bed. I believe it was about 20” wide, it got rid of the rocking/movement. If you don’t do the shim the bed sheet metal will crack from the flexing.

RE: Tailgate support rack

I would leave the end gate at home and buy the cargo net for the truck box. X2 on this. X3 leave the tailgate off the truck when the camper is on the truck.

RE: What did you do to your Camper Today?

fixed the mounting for the power pannel, put a new motor in the furnace, and discovered I had an intermittent fault in the mother board so ended up replacing that with a dinosaur electronics. works great now. also ordered the slim shade window for the door. Same thing happened to me, dealer thought the furnace motor had a bad spot in the armature, replaced the motor and found the the solid state board had a micro crack, replaced the board with an analog unit. Dealer didn’t charge me for the motor or the cost to overnight it in.;)

RE: 2.7l Silverado, 7,200 lb TT Vs Monteagle

I’m not convinced you’ll be this happy at 80,000 miles. Possibly with the Ford 2.7L but the jury is still out on this Chevy engine. I see BenK is also concerned. I wouldn’t worry about it, do your maintenance and enjoy your truck.;)

RE: Finding a 3500 series truck to test drive....

The GM 1 ton trucks ride the best of any 1 ton with the possible exception on the Ram’s with the air ride option.

RE: Parking permits in the GSMNP

We visited Zion NP and their shuttle system works great. Eliminate the parking areas and if someone parks there, tow them and when they come back to their missing car they can ride the shuttle to the tow yard and pay the fine.

RE: Protection/Maintenance Packages

I would request/demand my money be returned for this package and would put them on notice that they will be held legally responsible for voiding the manufacture warranty.

RE: In 2 years time I can no longer afford to buy a camper

I certainly don't see a recession happening this year, either. That being said, I'm not getting a 2nd job so I'm not sure if you're talking to me or who that advice is for. I work enough as it is.Not singling anyone out. Same with this: If all the savings is in a bank savings or CD there is tremendous risk of loss due to inflation continuing. Some should be in the equity market. No need to worry when the BIG drop comes. Not a question of if only when. We're closer than ever now. I know people that run around and talk about the sky is falling, the sky is falling, and they don’t have any money and will never have any money because of their mindset.

RE: In 2 years time I can no longer afford to buy a camper

Be patient, with record inflation and high gasoline prices, there will be people unloading their RV’s.
