RE: remote temperature monitoring

Do a search on MarCELL Cellular Connected Monitoring System. Dave We have MarCell.. I have no complaints at all. We spend a lot of time in the desert. The only thing you need is your cell phone for messages, phone calls and email alerts, plus the unit.

RE: Battery replacement brands

We have Optima marine batteries. We've had them around 4 years and they still work fine. We have Optima and they are great long lasting batteries. We are on our second set, not cheap.

RE: Bedroom AC?

My sister and her husband has a 5th wheel and they replaced one of their vents in their living area with a DOMETIC ATWOOD AIRCOMMAND 13,500 BTU, NON-DUCTED A/C, NON-DUCTED It made a huge difference in their RV. They spend a lot of time in Parker, AZ. on the river. We did the same thing with our motorhome, best thing we ever did.

RE: Keeping cool

We have friends from Arizona that sold their motorhome and bought a truck and trailer because when they were on the road the motorhome never got cool inside with the dash air on. We said why didn't you turn your generator and air conditioner on when you are traveling. . They said they didn't know you could do that, LOL.

RE: Length and public campsite availability lately?

We do both dry camping and RV Parks and never had problems parking our 35 ft. motorhome, except one place in the Red Woods, Ca. We ended up staying in an RV Park. Go for the 30 ft. if I were you.

RE: Keeping cool

I would say we drive 90% of the time with the generator and air conditioner on. Sometimes we have two air conditioners running at the same time.

RE: Motor homes and earth quakes.

Earthquakes are not going to stop us for driving on the 395 to the High Sierra's this month. I have been on the freeway during the Northridge earthquake. The road was a rolling. The other day I was sitting on bleachers watching my grandson play in his the Little League All Star game in San Clemente while the Ridgecrest earthquake was going on. The ground was rolling and it seemed like forever. The game continued 5 minutes later.

RE: Newby Dry Camping Questions

We carry a little Honda 2000 generator with us when we dry camp. It's quiet and doesn't use much gas. We use propane for the fridge and hotwater tank.

RE: Fireworks season

Katie hates fireworks and 4th of July & Christmas decorations in the house. She likes everything to stay the same, LOL.

RE: RVPetSafety vs Marcell

Pet Safety looks good, too. So far I'm very happy with Marcell. It notifies you by email, messages and with a phone call. Our phones goes berserk with alerts, LOL. We also use the Marcell in our home when we're not using the motorhome.

RE: 2nd AC unit worth it?

We have a 35ft. motorhome with ducted air and added a Atwood Air Command 13,500 BTU non-ducted Air Conditioner. We spend a lot of time in Palm Desert and the River. It makes a huge difference having both airs running.

RE: Running the generator while driving

I bet we run our generator 90% of the time on the road. When the dog starts panting the air conditioning is on..

RE: Anyone have auto get start for their coach?

When you have a power failure your RV does not go to 110° instantly, it would take up to eight hours depending on outside temp and if you have any shade. I park our 42'FW outside in the sun all day, in Alabama, and it very rarely gets above the outside ambient air temperature inside. Your puppies will be okay for several hours without A/C. Not really. We were staying in Palm Springs in May and this couple lost their dog, cat and bird because the power went out. Also at the Vets. a Bull Dog passed away because he was accidentally left in the garage. So sad you can't mess around with hot days.

RE: Anyone have auto get start for their coach?

We have Marcell Temp. Alert because we do a lot of RVing in the summer. Once you have it it's about $100.00 a year. When the unit is not in the RV I use it in the house. It's really user friendly.

RE: Air conditioner noise reduction

Might be a little cost prohibitive but our new Atwood AC is the quietest AC I have ever heard. It is easily half the DB of the dometic that was on our trailer before and out performs the dometic in every way also. It's as if Atwood designed it with noise in mind ;) We have the Base Air and a Non-Ducted Atwood AC. The Atwood AC is very quiet.

RE: Gas prices.

What gets me people move out of California because of high gas, taxes, home prices and complain how horrible California is, but when they move to another state they vote the same as they did in California.

RE: AA battery life

Whatever you do don't buy razor blades at the 99 Cent Store, they're lethal. LOL
