RE: Chevy V8 vs Ford V 10

I can't speak about the the new V8 that has just been put into the newest Class Cs.I have not seen many posts on them, what I have seen is that they are much quieter than the V10 under load and seem to be de tuned some for better fuel mileage. I can however speak about a Class C V8 on Chevy Chassis. I have a friend that has a V10 in his and we go all the same places and we seem to have about the same performance except I get a bit better fuel mileage and am not as worn out as he is after a long run fighting an ill handling rig even after all the time, money and work he put into his, following all the tips that have been brought up here on the Forum.

RE: RV roof vent cover

As said before they get brittle with age,I replaced all of mine with the Polycarbonate ones then put Maxxair covers over them, been there more than 10 years and are still good as new. If you are looking for vent lids.First see what type vent lid you have using this For long lasting vent covers Polycarbonate ones are the ones you want. If you haven't done this before Here is a short video that will help you. You may need a new seal that goes on the metal edge this will make it a tight seal This is what you need Replace like this

RE: Opinions on diesel vs. gasoline

I think Amazon has come to the realization regarding the Sprinters. They are replacing them with the Dodge PM and Ford Transit. Around here they have been replaced by UPS type trucks, also at the MB prep center near me they had maybe 100 of them trucked in,painted, ready to go,plus more parked at the Long Beach Airport lot.

RE: Rotten potato issue

Loose coffee will absorb most smells. ^^ This is what I did when I did that same thing,WOW what a smell from a potato. Just sprinkled on the shelf, let set for a few days cleaned it up and did another coating, after that smell was gone.

RE: Stick-house Smoke detector question

If your home has been built in the last 10 years in the U.S., chances are they are wired together to intercommunicate. This sort of wiring guarantees that if one alarm in the house goes off, they all go off. California requires it NV may also.

RE: Maxxair original vs Maxxair 2 - experience

I have the old Maxxair Original and the Fanmate, which has the same pin/hinge mounting as the Maxxair 2.No problems with with water getting in on them at all. The thing I like about the Maxxair 2 is the pin/hinged mounting like my Fanmate,it makes opening, cleaning or replacing the vent lid easy. The original has a bolt down mounting, much harder to open for maintenance. If I ever have to replace my old ones, more than 10 years old now and in perfect shape,I would opt for the Maxxair 2 for the pin/hinge mounting for that reason, they are also about 3 inches longer and have a larger opening for better airflow like my Fanmate

RE: Must I have a toad with a 27' Class C?

My Tioga 26Q is 27 FT and I have had no problems going where I wanted in the more than ten years that I have traveled with this RV. Including shopping malls, older State Campgrounds, even sporting events and amusement parks. While touring Wine Country out here I was a bit worried about getting to the Wineries and parking, until I was at one and another RV my size was there. He told me not to worry,if they shipped UPS. If they could go there then you can, that was his rule of thumb for where ever he went :B:B Always worked for me!!

RE: 1987 22 ft Chieftan radiator issues

Having had a '87 Chieftain on a P30 Chevy Chassis I found the same problem,no one had them.So after some research I found a Radiator Specialty shop in my area and they built one for me. Check around they are they are sometimes hard to find these days, most shops just want to R and R them. Good Luck!

RE: Portable gas detector

One with a 10 year battery would not be practicable, Most LP detectors have a lifespan of 5 or 6 years. I have had 2 die just past their 5 year manufacture date.
