RE: West Texas Sierra Blanca Van Horn FM1111

The last time I drove it was 3-4 years ago. Trucks have beaten it up pretty bad.

RE: Buying RV from a far away dealer

About 15 years ago, I bought a Nash TT from a dealer 800 miles away. It was a leftover at the end of the model year with an extremely low price, and it was exactly what we were looking for.
I drove there, it was perfect, so I bought it. WE NEVER needed warranty work.
Four years ago, we bought a Cougar TT (biggest mistake in my life) at a local dealer. Took it on a 3 night shake-down trip, had many problems. On the way home we took it directly to the same dealer with a list of problems to be fixed.
They told me to drop it off and they would "check it out" in a few weeks!
So much for "buying locally" and warranty work.
We took it home, called the factory and they okayed using a qualified mobile repair service.

RE: Cougar 22MLS vs micro Minnie 2108DS

The poor quality of the Cougar will make you hate going anywhere in it.
have never heard anyone complain about Winnebago overall quality.

Gander Mountain IS Camping World. Be smart, save yourself a lot of grief and frustration, and buy somewhere else.

Only YOU can decide what YOU should buy since YOU will be using it and YOU will be paying for it.

RE: Tow Vehicle Liability Insurance

Progressive will drop you at renewal time if you have any claims. All companies look at the frequency of claims, not the total dollar amount.
Try State Farm. They are in every state, whereas some of the companies mentioned above are not.

It is their park so they make the rules and set the prices.
It is your money, so feel free to spend it elsewhere.

RE: 2 nights required

I can understand the logic of 2 nights on weekends, as far as the park mgmt goes. If I owned/operated an RV park, I would do the same.
HOWEVER...it always galls me to see an empty site when the park sign says FULL. These are people who booked and paid for 2 nights and didn't show up. Park mgmt says "but they paid..."
They have knocked someone else out of using the site!
I think it would be fair to open that site and re-rent it IF the original renter did not show up the first night.

RE: Texas/SE NM during Spring Break - just getting our trailer

Have you considered Ft. Davis and Davis Mountain area? I agree with Hords Creek Lake! Had a very nice site, with privacy and quiet last time there. (April)

RE: Colorado Springs big rig RV park?

Garden of the Gods RV park had a fairly recent change in mgmt. and ownership. It got run down a bit before it sold and probably is being upgraded. As I recall, they close in the winter.
The KOA is always full so it must be pretty well run. I have looked into the park and it doesn't look bad.
The KOA would get my vote.

RE: Pulling Long Travel Trailer to Glacier

That would be too long for CGs in the park. Private RV parks could handle it but I wouldn't want to haul one that long anywhere.

RE: Fredericksburg Tx

I am not a fan of KOAs BUT the one in Fredericksbury is very nice. We have had sites in the back of CG with large trees, big sites, quiet, and private. Nice management also.

RE: Mt Rushmore and Yellostone National Park

We have always preferred the CGs within Custer State Park. Not as pricey as Rafter J Bar and are more peaceful. Deer, turkey, bison roaming around you.
Some have electric only, some with elec. and water.

RE: Living in a Trailer

Thinking ahead a little....picture yourself recuperating from surgery such as hip or knee replacement and living in a small trailer. Would not be the most pleasant experience IMHO.
You would not be able to do a lot of the things required in a TT such as getting down to drain tanks, change LP tanks, etc.
Think about it.

RE: Life expectancy of a small C class.... Ex Rental

I would never buy anything (car or RV) that had been a rental. Renters don't take care of things, and in the case of RVs, they often don't know how to properly use systems.
There is a reason rental companies sell units at that mileage level: wear and tear are about to catch up with them.

RE: Incline Parking Tips

How are you going to get a car into the garage with a TT in the way? Have you checked with your HOA to see if it is okay?
I would also asked my neighbors if they object to the TT parked there as it looks like it will dominate the front and block the view of cars coming around the curve.
