RE: closures

Well the government knows best. Power hungry politicians close down all the RV parks so that people thousands of miles from home have no place to stay. Well the issue isn’t those full timers currently on the, it is those that see being out of work, time to go camping! When you have tent campers sharing restroom facilities there is a greater risk of spread. Full timers with self contained units are less risk. Just saw several reports of here in the PNW people clocking to the beaches, crowds close contact, not what we need to be doing. Oregon is now closing all parks Monday 3/23 at 1:00 pm! We will be closed until at least May 8th. On Friday we did a drive through at Joseph Stewart,SP. north of Medford,Oregon and talked to the ranger and she said that the park was booked until April 3RD and now with so many people at most Oregon SP. they are closing them early 3/23/20! We saw lots of tent campers and RV and lots of kids and dogs.

GM van tire tpms info

People with 2006 to 2019 GM vans and some cars with tire pressure monitor systems (TPMS) can reset it yourself, if you do your own work or the tire shop forgets to reset it after tire rotation or with new tires. I wanted to try out my new floor jack so I rotated my tires and my tire light came on so I looked into it and found the tool on line that you need to reset the TPMS . I looked at some videos and pick the one that I liked and ordered it and it work perfectly , took 5 min to do it. click How to use it video click Part two click I don't have any interest in this company got this for self use only.

RE: Van Camping

OP here, It's nice to see that people are using their vans and getting out and enjoying the outdoors. We have a few things to get done around the house than we will take the bicycles and go to the lake that have some nice bicycle paths and nice camping area. I have a trip planed to go south into Ca. to take a 83 year old friend out for a day ride than I may do a over night camp. In April we will tow the trailer to Death Valley NP. and come home the back way through Nevada to Oregon. We will be planning more trips for the rest of the year. I sure like the van for the quick trips.

Van Camping

What type of camping do you do with your camper van and what activities do you do We camp at State, BLM, USFS, County CGs and some boondock camping WE see whats in the area that interest us , ride bicycles some hiking, take the dog for walks and relax. We like the Oregon Coast and the Hi country , I like some desert areas but the wife doesn't like the desert, we also like going to other states to explore history . We stay very little at privet campgrounds We use back roads 90% of the time and stay away from big cities.

Mike, I like your table setup and a good use of space and so nice to have the swivel seat. When I get my swivel seat done I thing it will work with my drop leaf table by the sliding door. We have had a few days of good weather and I got some work done around here as I'm having a 15'x 30'pavement done for the van to park on.

RE: My Chevrolet Express van Class B- camper

HI Mike, it's a never ending thing trying to get enough room for all the things we want to take with us, I'm still changing things around under the bed for the best fit. When we take the trailer out I remove somethings that I don't want for just van travel and put things in for trailer travel.

RE: My camper van

Beautiful build! We have a Transit that I did the very-basic conversion to - it makes the greatest sightseeing/touring vehicle! We have a tendency to drive places where larger RV's really shouldn't go, like Glacier's "Going-to-the-Sun" road Thank You for the nice comment, I have seen you build on your other postings and yes you have a nice build for your trips. I take trips by myself when my wife wants to stay home and work in her flower beds. We have a Casita trailer that we tow with the van for longer trips, will be going camping soon with the van.

RE: My camper van

Your layout is well done and looks much more professional than mine. Most of my modifications are done with the idea that I can pull everything out, put the passenger seats back in (mine was originally a passenger van) and there would be no holes left in the van. I used the floor seat mounting brackets to anchor my kitchen unit and bed frome. And that is exactly what I did when I purchased my newer 2018 model and sold my old 2001 LT passenger van. In fact, I advertised the 2001 in the morning and by supper it was sold, Keep posting your modifications. I love to look at what others have done. Thanks for the nice words! not professional but home done and I would do something different. The weather is going to be nice for a few days so I will wash the van and than take a picture of my just installed running boards.

My camper van

2017 GMC Savana Cargo Van 4.8 L V8 6 speed auto transmission 3.42 rear end PS, PB cruse control, PW and locks I installed a trailer tow package I converted the van into a camper van with a port a potty closet, a double bed at the rear, two cabinets with a drop leaf on the cabinet by the sliding door and with lots of storage under the bed. I insulated and paneled and add 5 LED lights . Two Maxxfans . I wired up a extra battery and a vent system for the battery and a fuse box for the fans and lights. I installed a simple 110 ac setup to run a small elect heater and a battery charger for the battery when camped with electric at a campground. The van will be used for one or two days trips and will be use to tow our 17’ Casita trailer for longer trips https://i.imgur.com/maosOBll.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QoiAA0bl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Cw74e6Sl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yjCAKEdl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UNyMTPPl.jpg

RE: My Chevrolet Express van Class B- camper

HI Mike, thank you for the wright up and photos of your swivel seat setup as it looks great. It is nice of you to offer me the wired connector and yes I would like it and will e-mail you my address and I would be glad to pay you for the connector and the mailing. I take it that you have not had any problems the connector causing any problems with the air bag system. Jay Jay, When I had the wires disconnected while working on the seat, I had to start my van up and move it out of the garage and drive it back in to a different position. While it was running it must have sent it's monthly info to OnStar because that same day I got my monthly Onstar email report. In the message it mentioned that my air bag system needed service. After I soldered the new 6-wire connector in and reinstalled my seat with the new swivel, the message was cleared up, so I am assuming I will have no problem with it. Mike, glad that you didn't have any lasting problems,I don't have onstar my van was a special rental that GM makes for company's and I bought it with 9.500 miles on it. Thank you for all the info and great pictures. Jay

RE: My Chevrolet Express van Class B- camper

Mike, good idea for a GPS mount, I like keeping the dash area clear and when I had my truck I keep my tablet with GPS on it below the dash. Storage under the seat is always a good place for easy to get to your things.

RE: My Chevrolet Express van Class B- camper

Hi Jay, Here is the link for where I purchased my swivel seat. If you search the internet, I am sure there are several other places to get them also. https://shop4seats.com/rv-furniture/rv-bases/class-c-rv-bases/gm-chevy-bases/96-gmc-chevy-aftermarket-seat-adapter-440.html In answer to your next question about the wiring, I cut the wires and soldered in a new six wire connector after feeding the wires through the seat swivel hole in the center because no connector would fit through the center bolt hole on the seat swivel. I would suggest disconnecting the battery before you do the cutting and soldering. Here is a picture of the 6 wire connector I used. I had to buy them in a pack of five, so if you want one for the cost of mailing I will send you one. Send me your mailing address to me at [email protected] https://i.imgur.com/RwwWW1Bl.jpg I forgot to take pictures of the wiring before I mounted the seat and swivel, so here is a picture taken after the mount was installed. A is the connector wired in after the wires were cut and B is where the wires were threaded through the seat swivel hole before I soldered them to the 6-wire connector. https://i.imgur.com/I0mAtyHl.jpg I will post more info on my GPS holder in my next update. HI Mike, thank you for the wright up and photos of your swivel seat setup as it looks great.
