RE: First tow with new 2019 Ram 3500 and ...disappointed.

With my Anderson, I make sure to re-torque the hitch after the weight of the camper is on it, per the instructions. Really helps.

RE: What's Opened?

I understand that the closure of overnight camping is to prevent the spread, such as travelers across state lines, or farther. It's unfortunate that they can't control the camping to local people only. Anyhow, we will probably be using our 5th wheel as an isolation chamber in the driveway, as my wife works in a hospital that has been chosen as a Covid-19 unit. Looking forward for this to be over. Stay safe everyone.

RE: What's Opened?

We, (Me, My Wife, and two of our children,) went camping in Nebraska last weekend. The sites are roomy, and far from other campers. We stayed away from other people. There were plenty of people out camping and enjoying the outdoors. Nobody was getting close to anyone. We went for walks, and when there were other people walking, we keep distance, and so did they. We were firmly believing that here in Nebraska, we had a good grasp on social distancing, hoping that the campgrounds would continue to allow overnight camping. But, alas, they closed overnight camping a day or two ago. Unbelievable. The parks are open for day use, makes no sense. I don't have to explain to the folks on RV.net. Just frustrating. At least we got out two weekends this spring before the madness started.

RE: Combined home computers reach exaflop levels

The PlayStation 3, with it's unique and powerful Cell processor, was a part of the [email protected] project. I let mine run it regularly, to help humanity. Don't be scared. They are not hackers. Amazing use of technology.

RE: You can buy S637 tires here, but install: HAHAHAHA

Sorry for the poor wording. The tech at Discount Tire did say they could go higher with the manual gauge. To clarify on the bearings, I should have left out the US made comment. I will be installing Timkin bearings and races, although they may or may not be made in the US.

RE: You can buy S637 tires here, but install: HAHAHAHA

No wasted effort here. Discount tire was able to mount and balance the trailer tires. But, could not inflate them to more than 90 Psi. Also they damaged the bead of one of the new tires they removed, which I have already sold to a prospective buyer. I think the damaged tire will be fine for the purpose of the buyer, but, still disappointing. The lesson here is that Discount Tire, or Walmart, or possibly some other automotive tire shop, may struggle with the Sailun S637 tires, or other tires outside of the normal load range of cars and light trucks. Possibly, using a big rig tire shop may be a better option.

RE: You can buy S637 tires here, but install: HAHAHAHA

It's simple guys, I just bought a 2020 fifth wheel. First thing I did was look at the tires, in light of the many tire and bearing failures my family has had in the last ten years of camping, even with a brand new camper. The instant I looked at the tires, I knew immediately that I would not trust those tires for anything but local trips. The tires on our new 2020 Coachman 360IBL are Ridgway Sport St tires, 235/85R16 load range F. 7K Dexter Axles. GCWR 14,000lbs. Load Range F tires at 95PSI are good for 3,960lbs per tire. Plenty for this fifth wheel. Yet, I knew they would not survive, just by appearance. I quickly ordered the Sailun S637 tires. The tires arrived. These highly recommended Sailun S637 tires are incredibly stout. The Ridgways are, in comparison, extremely flimsy, as expected. Anyhow, in relation to this post, I have been bringing the wheels in one at a time to Discount Tire, to remove the ridgways and install the S637. When I brought the third one in, the young man at the counter asked me: "are these the big tires?". I said, well they are 235/85/R16. He the said Oh Yeah, you brought a couple in already. Those were um, interesting to mount. I asked him what they aired them up to. I had requested 95PSI. He said their inflators only go to 90PSI with accuracy. I had to inflate them at home to where I wanted them. So, lesson learned, standard automotive tire shops may have problems with the Sailun S637 load range G tires with max pressure of 110PSi. I have never felt so confident in a trailer tire. Now I need to get USA Timkin bearings in the hubs, and do it myself, to feel confident. I have had failed bearings 3 times, resulting in RV damage. Twice on a 1 year old trailer. Once, on an older trailer. Yes, I was using an infrared temp gun on each hub and tire at every gas stop. On the last fifth wheel, I had invested in a TST pressure monitor. Never alarmed for temperature or pressure, as the bearing failed, and the tire and rim left us with a very loud and alarming "Bang" on I90 middle of nowhere, SD. On our new 5th wheel, I have had the new Sailun tires balanced, and purchased Centramatic Balancing Rings for it. With my luck, I need all the help I can get. On the positive side, the kids and I have gotten extremely efficient at changing tires on the side of interstates. We are like an Indy pit crew.

RE: Question on inner bearing grease seals

I worked in industrial maintenance at one of the largest meat slaughter and packing facilities for 10 years. National and Chicago Rawhide seals are what was used in those extreme environments. From 100 below 0 degree blast freezers to 120 degree and up kill floors. I would stick with National or CR instead of no name brands. If you are worried about cash, try the cheapies. Maybe they will hold up? I'll pass. If you're broke down in the middle of nowhere, use what you can get!

RE: exchanging propane cylinder that came with TT

I recently exchanged a tank with a bad valve at a gas station. The attendant kindly looked through the tanks and found a brand new one. Previously I exchanged an expired tank at a home improvement store. Took 3 or 4 exchanges, but I finally got an almost new tank. I then keep the good tanks and refill at Tractor Supply.

RE: Tesla Cybertruck

I rather like this vehicle, and I do not think the new Chevy HD is better looking, but, just my opinion.
