RE: Standard definition tv

Thanks for the replies. So as I understand things my H24-100 will work with my existing 18 inch antenna or the Kingdome. This is also with the receiver and I assume that would need to be used inline. DTV SUP-2400 “B Band Converter (BBC) Module” (for Ka-Lo band up conversion) So one day I will need to upgrade to HD and get a Traveler antenna or a new dish that I aim or stay in one place that has good WiFi. What is the future of the carryout antennas? I could get one of those although none of those have HD for DTV as I understand it now. I do appreciate your help here on this forum, when I call DTV their push is to upgrade and or sell something, also seems harder to get a DTV local satellite provider. So far the D12 is still working. Thank You JimR

RE: Standard definition tv

Hello all saw this thread and looks like there is a lot of knowledge here; I have a couple of questions. I have the following receivers from DTV MDL D-11 MDL D-12 MDL H24-100 MDL HR-44-200 DVR The D-12 is the official one in use for DTV but the D-11 works as well. The H24-100 and the HR-44-200 are not in service but were in use at the house that I no longer have. As stated the D-12 is in service with a Kingdome or an 18 inch dish depending on location. DTV has been emailing me to get a new access card but will not send one to me where I am at in the RV, but that is another story. The last email that I received did state a date of January 11th. I did call and was informed that my equipment was out of date and I need a new receiver and that at some time in the future I would receive an error message on the TV. The receiver would need to be installed by a service person for $49.00. So my question is: Will the HR-24-100 or the HR-44-200 work with the 18 inch satellite dish or the Kingdome? Thank You JimR

RE: Dometic Fridge stopped working in cold weather? Ideas?

If it gets cold enough the refer will not work. I put a trouble light in the compartment to help keep it warm and that worked, use a real light bulb and at 60 watts or one not to exceed the recommended wattage. Outside temp was hitting 4 degrees. JimR

RE: Slide Topper Spring

Carefree of Colorado Go to the web site and look for parts then springs. I have ordered 2 toppers and misc. parts from them. you will need the Part Number and or the serial number from the roller, one end or the other under the fabric. I think the serial number worked. JimR

RE: Blocking "Restricted" Calls on Smartphone

I've had no problem blocking calls on my Samsung Android phone (Verizon), but when I receive a call that reads "Restricted" on the screen, it can't be blocked. The call is undoubtedly a scammer, and it's a sly attempt to prevent blockage since no number is displayed. These people are a pain. :M This statement is not correct. I have received Restricted Calls and all as I remember were from Law Enforcement. That said I assume a scammer might be able to use that but in my experience the scam calls use a phone number close to mine. JimR

RE: Mail Forwarding Cost. Virtual Mail vs Priority Mail

Why is everything coming Priority Mail? Do you have large items or so much that you need that? Is it business instead of personal mail ? We just have first-class mail, with advertisements and junk mail automatically discarded and don't spend anywhere near what you do. We order our mail when we want it, but actually get very little paper mail. Most of our statements, notices or correspondence is online. Priority mail has a tracking number and for me it is a bit more comforting than no tracking number. But ya it is more money. JimR

RE: Mail Forwarding Cost. Virtual Mail vs Priority Mail

PawPaw_n_gram "You need to look at each thing you received this year. Was any of it something you NEEDED to physically receive. That can help you with the costs. So far for us, scanning works out to be more expensive than receiving it physically." This is what I was looking for a comparison of the costs. I am assuming that for me the costs may be close for either service so will see probably after the first of the year. I had issues with my mail order RX as they would put me on auto refill and send it to BFE, this happened more than once so I just do the retail stores. The thing with the scanning is I can wait till I see an important piece of mail then the order the send. Thank You JimR

RE: Mail Forwarding Cost. Virtual Mail vs Priority Mail

I have USPS Informed Delivery. As mentioned, it is far from perfect. I like it though. So I would be very happy with Virtual Mail. Sounds like it would be more complete. I, as well, have slimmed down my paper mail. Many utilities, credit card companies, etc. offer paperless billing. We could be gone 3 or 4 months and get maybe two pieces of really important mail. Our neighbor collects our mail. She'll open, scan a letter, mail us a particular piece...as per our instruction. So with USPS Informed Delivery and neighbor...well, sounds like that's about what your Virtual Mail is. I'd say go for it. Can you go back to the other way if you don't like it? Janss Your neighbor is your mail forwarding service using Virtual Mail as I understand the information from the many mail forwarding service around the country that offer this service. I did cut back on all my mail and went to digital format billing and such. I am a full timer and have been using Dakota Post since 2004. The Informed Delivery Service with my Daughter may work. Thank You For the reply JimR

RE: Mail Forwarding Cost. Virtual Mail vs Priority Mail

So you are getting priority mail twice a month for $7.50 a mailing. It seems to me you have little to complain about. If you are concerned about the amount you could cut back on the frequency. Before I started out as a full timer, I worked on cutting out as much paper as possible and often went months before collecting my mail. I am not complaining I am just asking about Virtual Mail. Perhaps I worded thing the wrong way will edit. Also the last cost was $8.15 per mailing JimR

RE: Mail Forwarding Cost. Virtual Mail vs Priority Mail

not sure what you mean by virtual mail but if your forwarder allows you to pick and choose which mail they forward you might want to create an account with the US Post office and then sign up for their INFORMED DELIVERY SERVICE (free). you'll get a daily e-mail showing the front of the envelopes that have been processed for delivery that day. USPS Informed Delivery My understanding is that the Informed Delivery Service cannot be used for a commercial address such as a CMRA. Do you know of anyone that's able to use it with a CMRA account? CMRA? CMRA = Commercial Mail Receiving Agency JimR ok, well all i can tell you is our experience. we used America's Mailbox last winter. all of our mail was forwarded to them and all of that mail showed up on the daily USPS Informed Delivery e-nail. that's how i kept track of what should be in our weekly delivery of mail. but because most of our commercial mail had been switched to e-mail the amount of postal mail we received each week was small. it always fit in one of those small plastic envelopes. minimal cost. rk911 When you say forwarded to Americas Mailbox you are saying that the post office had a forwarding address and then forwarded your mail to Americas Mailbox? That would make sense but I have my mail sent to Dakota Post directly and do not think that the Informed Delivery would work but will check on that. Thank You JimR

USPS Informed Delivery Virtual Mail is a service that some mail forwarding companies offer. They scan the mail and post the scan on the internet via their portal for you to view when you get notified of such a scan. They can if you want open the mail and scan the pages inside for an additional fee. You can choose what to have sent to you eliminating junk or not needed mail. You would have the ability to save up the mail and have it sent when you want. The ability to see the mail (unopened for me) may be the cost saver of only sending when needed, say once every 60 days thereby saving some postage. Not trying to be a tight wad but Virtual Mail may give me more options at a possible savings or even a break even with what I am paying now but with the ability to see any very important mail that needs attention. RE: Mail Forwarding Cost. Virtual Mail vs Priority Mail

Let me try to understand. You’re complaining about $8 and change to have a box mailed to you? Last flat rate box I sent, which is the cheapest mail, was more than that. It may have been big enough to hold 2 weeks of mail. Grit Dog I am not complaining about anything. My post is aimed at those that have Virtual Mail and whether they like it or not and are they saving any money. I am currently paying about $345.00 a year and Virtual Mail may be a cheaper option at $239.00 a year plus any scan cost and a mailing fee of $2.00. JimR

Mail Forwarding Cost. Virtual Mail vs Priority Mail

Hello I am using Dakota Post in Sioux Falls SD for my mail forwarding and I am happy with them and the yearly service price. I am not planning on moving my mail forwarding service. Over the years the cost of postage has gone up and up and now the cost for priority mail twice a month is $195.60 annually (postage only). I know I could cut that in half by a once a month mailing but I like the twice a month service. So sans the yearly cost of Dakota Post just looking at the mailing costs: Is there anyone out there that uses a virtual mail service and how do you like it and is it a cost saver? Thank You JimR
